Last night, I went in my bathroom and discovered a live cockroach
sitting in the bowl of the toilet. (Not swimming--just sitting there.)
Before I realized my dilemma (squish or flush), I quickly flushed the toilet (twice). Now
all I can think of is how difficult it is to kill a cockroach, and I wonder how
soon it will be before it crawls back through the pipes and surprises me
during a midnight bathroom trip! I wish I had squished it!
I told my dad about it, and his response was, "Well, it looks like you
found a civilized cockroach. At least it's potty trained!"
Thanks.

Conversation with Megan
"Megan, where is your list of kids from school and their phone numbers?"
"Hmmm. I don't know . . . why don't you look upstairs . . . or downstairs . . . or anywhere i could have put it. "
Thanks, Megan. That really clears it right up!

New Haircuts
I tried to talk Melissa into letting me bob her hair, too, but she decided to keep it long. I must admit, I think Megan looks adorable!

Happy Birthday to Lacie!
My little Lacie is 5! She is so excited. At age 4, she taught herself to read and learned to write and ride with no training wheels. I can't imagine what's in store for her at five--maybe performing her first brain surgery?
We've had cousins visiting all week, so Lacie had some extra guests at our family party--Aunt Julie, Uncle Brian, Jessica, Cameron, Andrew, and Sam. We sure enjoyed having them visit.
Somehow I missed getting pics of the birthday cake (we have a video, but I can't find it right now). For her cake we had these yummy oreo cupcakes. (For a tutorial and recipe, please visit my other website at OneCreativeMommy.com.)
I'd like to see anyone try to eat these without getting cream all over their nose! (They are Oreo-in-the-middle cupcakes with real whipped cream and Oreo crumbs for the frosting. Yum!!!)
As I continue this post, please ignore Lacie's "my-mom-never-combs-my-hair" and "I-have-chocolate-all-over-me-from-licking-the-bowl appearance. It was a run to gymnastics, now swimming lessons, you've got fourty-five minutes to make the cupcakes--oh, no we ate all the eggs for lunch(!) kind of day! Thanks, Trina for bailing me out with some eggs!
Lacie was so excited to open her presents that she spent a good five minutes posing for Daddy while we waited for her.
When she was finally ready to open, I'm not sure who was more excited--her sisters and cousins (who already knew what was in the giant bag)--or Lacie!
Baby Penguino finally has a mommy!
This card explains that the store was all out of the bike she wanted, and it will come in the mail next week. (She just inherited Megan's old bike a few months ago, and she's already outgrown it!)
She got this great Princess book from her cousins. She looks at it for hours at a time! She hasn't asked anyone to read it with her. The pictures are so much fun that she hasn't needed the stories yet!
To end her great day, the kids all participated in an awesome water fight in the backyard.
Phew! What a day! We love you, Lacie!
