September 2006

Jayna is such a little sweetheart and we just can't get enough of her. She makes the most adorable faces and sounds! She's had a pretty busy first month of life, besides keeping us entertained 24 hours a day, she also:
  • gained almost 1 pound (she weighs 6 lbs. 4 oz.)
  • met her grandma, aunt Cassandra and cousin Samantha
  • started sucking her thumb
  • had 3 Dr. appointments
  • had a baby shower
  • went to church for the first time
  • first pictures taken at kiddie kandids
  • had her cord fall off
  • does the hugest stretch whenever we pick her up from a nap or her carseat
  • had a real bath in her tub

Jayna loves to streeetch!

Jayna's first days

Jayna Nadida Fitzner was born on Wednesday, September 6, 2006.

Jayna surprised us by coming 3 weeks early and weighed in at a hefty 5 lbs 14 oz!

6:45 am - Jordana's water broke while she was getting ready for work, we called the doctor and started packing our bags

7:45 am - Admitted to the hospital

8:30 am - Dilated to 3cm, 90% effaced and -1 station, having very mild contractions, mom and baby both look good on the monitors

9 am to 2 pm - Walking the halls on the labour and delivery floor trying to get things going (Gibb was getting more tired than Jordana), contractions becoming a little bit stronger and closer together, but not enough (Jordana was still smiling)

2:30 pm - Start the ptocin (we wanted to have this baby before 4 am)

4:00 pm - Dilated to 5cm, 100% effaced and +1 station, things are finally starting to get going

4:30 pm - Get me an epidural!

5 to 6 pm - We can relax again and watch the movie Elf

6:00 pm - Jordana is complete, 10 cm dilated and +3 station, head is engaged, but no urge to push at all, Jordana is completely numb

6 to 6:30 pm - Turn off the epidural and wait for it to wear off

6:30 pm - Feeling is coming back and so we start to push

7:18 pm - Jayna is born!!! An amazing mircale that we can't put into words

Jayna weighed 5 lbs 14 oz and was 17 inches long.

We stayed in the hospital from Wednesday night until Saturday morning. All the nurses and doctors there were absolutley incredible! She had a few visitors and met some of our good friends from Cleveland.

Jayna came home around 10:30 am Saturday, September 9, and spent her first day at home with Mom and Dad. Late Saturday night Grandma, Aunt Cassandra and cousin Samantha came to visit. Cassandra and Samantha could only stay for one night, but Grandma will be here helping us out for a while. Unfortunately Gibb had to go back to school on Monday, and that was very sad!

We are all doing great at home and can't get enough of our precious baby girl!

We have no idea what we are getting into!
