Zoo

This was the first time that we have ever gone to the Cleveland Zoo as a family. Usually it's just me and Jayna, and Gibb has only been once before with friends. It was a great day to go because there was barely anyone there and all the animals were being so funny! It was also fun because Jayna actually knows animal sounds now and could recognize the animals. Our camera is still broken so we didn't take very many pictures and most of them are blurry, we really need to get that fixed soon!

This HUGE monkey was sitting right by the glass for so long! You can't tell from this picture how big this guy was, Jayna was totally scared of him, big surprise!
I swear he even posed for a couple pictures.

Quilting Group

I decided to join the Quilting Group that was one of the mini Enrichment groups at church. I don't really sew, except in straight lines, and I haven't used a sewing machine in years. But Anna and Rochelle said that the rag time quilt we were making was really easy, and it actually was! I was so excited I ended up making 2 quilts. It was so fun to find the material and see them actually turn out, and I'm getting more excited to have a boy! I had so much fun I decided to try a new kind of quilt, that doesn't seem as easy, but is really cute when it's done. So I'm working on 2 more quilts right now, wish me luck!

Happy Easter!

We had a great Easter Sunday today, despite the snow and cold weather! Of course we had to take some family pictures. Which turned out pretty good considering we just realized this morning that our camera is broken, which is why a lot of these pictures are kind of blurry.

We even got a couple shots of just me and Gibb!
(What do you think of the dress Mona?)

Jayna wanted to pose for some shots all by herself.
Thanks Pat for the adorable dress!

Then we did a very mini Easter Egg Hunt for Jayna. First she had to put her bunny to sleep in the basket and carry him around for a while. Then she had so much fun putting the eggs in her basket! But she lost interest in finding all the eggs once she realized that the eggs made a neat sound when you shake them. Finally she realized that the eggs opened and there was something inside each one. It took her a while to try to eat what was inside and realize it was candy!

Our friends the Holman's came over for Easter Dinner!

Their 3 boys: Sam, Tommy and Aiden
They each brought Jayna an Easter Egg filled with treats!

Brad, Terri, Gibb & Jayna after dinner

Jayna turns into a monster at the strike of 6 pm on days where we have 3 hours of church, she has a short nap, eats a TON of sugar and we have people over!

Can you say early bedtime!

Well this is turning out to be a really long post, but I have to add one more story, just for my journaling sake. I went into nursery today to take attendance and they were having cupcakes. Everyone has their own style of eating cupcakes I guess. Jayna's style is to lick off all the icing, then leave the cupcake on the table and using no hands devour the rest by sticking your face into it. To each their own, I think it's because she didn't want to get her hands dirty!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter week-end!

Potty

No, we are not potty training Jayna yet! But we did buy her a little potty since she is starting to be really interested. She says poo-poo whenever she has a dirty diaper now and I can't remember the last time I had privacy going to the bathroom. She likes to sit on her potty and put toilet paper in it and close the lid. But she will only sit on it with her clothes on... one thing we've learned with Jayna is that she takes baby steps with everything. Which is fine since we won't even be attempting to actually potty train her until after we move and have the baby. But for now she is loving her own potty in the bathroom!

Nursery Girl

Jayna turned 18 months old on March 6 and was supposed to start Nursery last Sunday, but since church was canceled, yesterday was her first day. I was pretty sure she was going to love it and she did. She wasn't really sure what to do at first, but we just let her go in with the nursery leader and they said she didn't cry once. We were so glad that she had fun, and Gibb was so excited since he usually has her during church. I was excited but sad at the same time. This girl is getting too big too fast.

S N O W

We had a huge blizzard here this week-end. I was supposed to work on Saturday morning, I work at Parma Hospital which is about 35 minutes away. Luckily I had called in on Friday saying that I probably wouldn't be able to make it in, I couldn't even make it off our street! Gibb timed it pretty well so that he only ended up shoveling the driveway 3 times, but he shoveled about a foot each time. Pretty much every car that tried to drive down our street that day, got stuck, including me! The Stake President even ended up canceling church on Sunday. These pictures really don't do it justice.

Yesterday all the streets were plowed and it even warmed up enough for the snow to start melting already. Jayna had fun stomping in the snow and exploring the piles of snow that were taller than her.

She thought it was fun to walk through the "tunnel of snow" on the sidewalk, even though it was kind of hard to walk in her big boots.

All dressed up with nowhere to go

It was supposed to be the Dental School Formal yesterday. Gibb and I have never gone to it and we thought (or I thought) it would be fun to go since this is our last year. I was so excited, except for the fact that I had to wear a maternity dress. I had even made an appointment to get my hair done, until the salon called in the morning saying that there were no stylists coming in that day since no one could get to work because of all the snow! I was so disappointed, especially since I was planning on getting shoes and jewelry while I was out! That's what I get for leaving things to the last possible second. Luckily my friend Julie had told me she had some jewelry I could borrow and she also happens to do hair and offered to do mine. So I headed out to her house which is about 4 or 5 blocks away and 15 minutes later finally made it off my street! I ended up getting there 45 minutes later after getting totally stuck twice and having to have Casey come pick me up. Julie ended up doing 5 beautiful updo's that afternoon (with Kisha as her assistant) and we all went home to put on our dresses and finish getting ready. Then an hour before we were going to leave we heard that the formal had been canceled, we were so disappointed! So we decided since we were already dressed up and had baby-sitters lined up we mind as well still go out. So we found a restaurant that was still open and went to the melting pot! We pretty much had the place to ourselves and it ended up being a really fun night!

Daddy's Helper

Jayna loves being our little buddy when we're running errands or doing chores. She likes to push the cart when we're grocery shopping, open and close all the doors for us, hold the packages when we go to the post office, and she likes to walk everywhere. She especially likes being Gibb's helper since he gets to do all the fun jobs! She loves going outside with him when he shovels the driveway and "helping" him do the dishes. She cries when the dishes are all done.

Road Trip

This past week-end Gibb wrote his board exam in Toronto. We left on Friday to drive to my sister's in London, and arrived 9 hours later (this is usually a 5 hour trip). We were totally stopped in traffic for 2 1/2 hours! Then Gibb still had to drive 2 more hours to Toronto. To make a long story short he didn't get to the hotel until 1:30 in the morning and was dead tired for his exam the next day. Poor Gibb has been studying SO hard for this test and said he could barely keep his eyes open. But we're glad that it's over with and are patiently waiting 6 weeks until we find out if he passed!!

Jayna and I hung out at the Hill's all week-end while Gibb was gone. Cassandra and I mostly just hung out and played with the kids. But we did manage to sneak out to a couple stores and both found really pretty dresses for Mona's wedding in May!! Of course we forgot to even get the camera out most of the time, but I did snap a couple shots of Nathan and Jayna having a little tea party.
