Kepler is growing so fast! He's already gained over 5 pounds since he was born and went from 10th percentile to 50th for weight! He is happiest in the mornings right after he eats and smiles so easily, which Jayna finds so funny. He "talks" a little bit, and is starting to look like his own person now, except his smile is really similar to Jayna's as a baby. He loves snuggling and sleeping with someone holding him and is starting to pay attention to toys.

Kepler at 2 months

Edmonton ZOO
We've made a few trips to the Edmonton Zoo this summer. It's pretty fun, but it just doesn't come close to the Cleveland Zoo. But Jayna still has fun either way. This time she was most excited to see the elephants, and when we got there the elephant was having a bath. She thought that was pretty cool, and we watched the whole thing.

When we went to see the Sea Lions they took them out and were playing with them and feeding them. We were so close to them, it was so cool!
We miss Grandma!
My mom came and spent almost 2 months with us this summer. We don't get to see my parents very often since they live so far away, so it was so great to be able to spend so much time together. She came a couple weeks before we had Kepler and so Jayna got all her attention. She instantly became Grandma's little buddy!
My mom was such a huge help to us, we really appreciate her coming and spending the summer with us. We all miss her tons! I think Jayna finally understands that Grandma is gone. The first couple days after she left she wandered around the house looking for her and calling "Grandma!", and at bedtime she would say "Grandma hug, Grandma kiss". Then she figured that she must be at work like Daddy, so she would ask "where Grandma go?" and then she would answer "work". The other day she finally said "Grandma bye-bye", so sad! But she's still not sure if the room beside hers is Grandma's or Kepler's, poor girl. We miss you and we can't wait to see you again!

Cheese Please!
The more Jayna talks, the more we are entertained. There are a few funny things she's done lately that I wanted to write down.
1. Jayna loves all fresh fruit, especially strawberries and watermelon. The other day we had some blueberries, and Jayna now asks to eat blue strawberries all the time.
2. Jayna is learning to use her manners, and now whenever she really wants something, especially something she knows she's not allowed, she puts on a huge smile and says "PLEEEASE!", half the time we don't even know wat she's trying to ask for, but it's still hard to resist. One time I said "Please what" when I didn't know what she wanted and so now she says "Please what" to ask for things.
3. Jayna still drinks whole milk and knows the difference between the two milk jugs, she calls the one with the yellow lid "Jayna's milk". I was pouring my cereal with the skim milk and she said "Daddy's milk", as if only Daddy is allowed to drink the other milk.
4. Jayna loves smoothies, and is kind of obsessed with them. We can't even say the word smoothie unless I'm already making one. The good thing is that I can put healthy stuff like spinach in it, and this is one of the only ways I can get veggies in her. Today I asked her if she wanted a smoothie and she ran to the cupboard and got out the blender. Then I asked her what I should put in the smoothie and she said "Cheese!"
5. Jayna rarely stops eating, she is such a bottomless pit. A lot of times she asks for something to eat right after we finish a meal. The other day she had so much to eat and she actually stopped eating for once. She pulled up her shirt and said "tummy full", and I felt it and her tummy was so hard.

Poor Little Guy
Well I knew as soon as we found out we were having a boy that he would have to play with girl toys for a little while, until we bought him his own boy toys. And that when he got older he would play barbies, and get dressed up as a princess with bows in his hair and everything, just so he could play with his older sister. We have some great pictures of my little brother twirling in a princess dress. I just didn't think it would start so early, poor Kepler.

First Smile
It's so easy to tell when Kepler is in a good mood (uaually right after he just ate), because he goes from his usual serious face to a super happy face and it is sooo easy to make him smile when he's like that. He is such a fun little guy to have around, we sure love him!

Princess Jayna
Jayna is definitely starting to become more of a girly girl lately. Her favourite colour is PINK, and she loves putting on necklaces and breacelets and is starting to like Princesses too. I have to admit I'm loving this stage! We were at our cousins in Airdre the other day and she got to dress up in this Pink Princess dress. She loved twirling around in it! On the other hand Jayna also loves trains, cars, airplanes and could play in the dirt all day!
