I was due to have Hudson on January 5th, but we decided to induce at 39 weeks because I had already started progressing a little bit. As weird as it is to call labor easy, it was a quick and extremely smooth labor experience! Jacob and I headed to the hospital at 5:00 a.m. for our 5:30 check in. I was a little anxious, but was so happy to see my good friend, Pam, who is a nurse in Labor and Delivery. She didn't think that she would be able to make it, but she came in early just to get everything started and get me settled in! They started the Pitocin at 6:00 a.m. and my doctor came by around 7:00. I had really started to feel the contractions at this point, but they weren't anything that I couldn't handle. However, I could tell they were coming on strong, and I didn't want to miss my chance for an epidural. After I got the epidural, my right side immediately started feeling much better, but I could still feel the very strong contractions on my left side! After adjusting the epidural, it still wasn't helping, so they turned me on my side and said to let gravity do it's job. It finally started working, and 5 minutes after that, I had Jacob call the nurse because I knew that "something" was happening! After a quick check by the nurse, she ran out the door and said "You're having a baby!" I think Jacob was a little panicked because he had been laying on the couch in the room, but all of a sudden was standing up, saying firmly, "Melanie, do not move! You can't have Hudson without the doctor in here!" He probably told me to stay still 10 times in the next five minutes it took for my doctor to get there! After two pushes, Hudson arrived at 9:30, weighing 7 pounds, 11 ounces! This was such a different experience from having twins, but it was still amazing to see our little miracle! I was also very blessed to have Jacob and my Mom in the delivery room with me. This summer, when I didn't think that Mom would make it through the night alive after her brain aneurysm and stroke, I just kept telling her that she had to fight to live because I needed her to help me through the delivery and with this baby...that was a whole different set of emotions! I'm so thankful that God spared her life so that she could be there with me for this huge milestone in our lives!
After Hudson was born, Jacob and I had some time with him, but then figured that four grandparents and two aunts were having a hard time with two, two year olds in the waiting room, so we brought them in to meet their baby brother! Griffin was all about him, which surprised me a little, and Bailey was very hesitant! I think it was a little strange to her that we had talked about Baby Hudson for so long and now she could see him!
I'm in love!
I sure am a lucky girl to have him as my husband...he's amazing with our kids and helps in any way that I ask!
So happy to see my other little guy...
Griffin is quite the active little man, so it was so sweet to see him sit and pat Hudson!
My sweet boys!
Bailey isn't quite so sure about him.
My family of five...and yes, five is where we will stay! :)
Bailey decided she would give him a chance!

So glad to have her there with me!
My favorite nurse, and sweet friend, Pam...so happy to have her through both labors with me!
Hanging out in the hospital room the next day, and so well coordinated! :)
Having one baby is easy! :)
We made it home...Bailey likes him more at our own house instead of the hospital!
"He's wookin (looking) at me!"
Bebe and Hudson cuddling!
Poppy had to do a little work on his laptop, so Griffin decided he would too!
Made in Arkansas! :)
Griffin is a fan of Hudson's toys! Little monkey!
Checking him out...
Sweet boy can't figure out where he is and why it's so loud!
After a rough night of little sleep, this is a great thing to wake up to!
I will be honest and say that I have had my moments where I am majorly overwhelmed...the first night, I think Jacob thought something was seriously wrong with me when I couldn't stop crying! Between him and my Mom, they did a lot of comforting! It has gotten much better, but it was a rough couple of days! He was a great baby (except at night), I just think hormones were on overload! Bailey and Griffin still go to our sitters house some days, and I must say that having one baby at home is much easier than two! He might be spoiled rotten because I hold him much more than I did them, only because I can! It must be true that they can hear what's going on on the outside before they're born, because he doesn't flinch at the chaos that goes on around him! He's a sweet baby and I can't wait to see what his personality will be like, and watch as he will interact with Bailey and Griffin! Welcome to the family, "Baby Hudson"!
