7 Years Ago Today

Ryan and I met on May 28th, 2006.  It was the day before memorial day so every memorial day I think about how we met and remember how young and cute we were. Here we are on our very first date.  We went to Timpanogos Caves.
We got engaged that fall.  Aren't we so adorable!
And ridiculous!
Here we are on our wedding day.
Awwwww
And because we met 7 years ago today, all this happened...
We are pretty lucky!

Lucas's 4th Birthday

I can't believe my baby boy is 4 years old!  Although it's weird to think it's been that long - it feels like forever ago that he was this teensy newborn baby.
Here's pictures from each birthday.
Last year I asked Lucas some questions on his birthday, and this year I asked him the same questions.  Some of the answers have changed, and some have stayed the same.  First his stats, then questions.

Weight - 38 lbs
Height - 41 inches
Favorite Color - Green
Favorite Animal - Squirrel (I tried to convince him he likes dogs more but he insisted that squirrels are his favorite)
Best Friend - Zac and Walker
Favorite Foods - Pasta and Cheeseburgers
Favorite Pastimes - Playing bad guys with daddy, Playing at the park with friends
Favorite Cartoon - Jake and the Neverland Pirates
Favorite Movie - The Incredibles
Favorite Toy - Iron Man
Favorite Book - 5 Minute Pixar Stories
Favorite Song - I am a Child of God (this has been his favorite since he was a baby)

Last year he was really into trains and Thomas, this year he is really getting into super heros and playing super heros and watching super heros.  He's learning how to play pretend more, and it's really fun to see what his little mind comes up with.  He's finishing up his first year of preschool and he's learned so much.  He seems like such a little grown up some times.  We love our sweet little Lucas, and are look forward to another great year of watching him grow up.

Paige and the Vacuum

Paige is not a huge fan of the vacuum.  She is terrified of it.  When I get the vacuum out she just sits there perfectly still and watches that thing like a hawk.  If I stay far enough away from her, she just sits and watches, but if I get too close, like within 5 feet, all of a sudden she lunges in the other direction and crawls frantically to get away.  Sometimes I forget how afraid of the vacuum she is.  The other day I got out the vacuum and turned it on right next to her without thinking.  She lunged away and crawled over to Lucas's lap and laid her head down on him and just sat there until I turned the vacuum off.  It was seriously the cutest thing I've ever seen.  Now I usually have Lucas sit with Paige while I'm vacuuming so that he can protect her.  He's such a good big brother.

Disneyland Wrap Up

Here are the pictures from the last two days of our trip to Disneyland.  The first day we were by ourselves so we just spent a lot of time going on the rides that the whole family could enjoy.  Here's Paige being entertained by Lucas while we were waiting in line.
Me and Lucas on the Astro Orbiter
Resting in a teacup.
We went onto Tom Sawyer's Island and let Lucas run free.  He really loved this one.  He was running into all these little tunnels and bridges and climbing up anything he could.
He liked all the pirate stuff, especially this pile of treasure and gold doubloons.
After that we took Lucas on Splash Mountain for the first time.  He LOVED it!  We went on it like 4 more times during our visit.  This picture is actually from the next day, but it has all three of us in it so I like it best.
We also waited in line to get our picture taken with Woody.  He was pretty excited, but also kinda nervous.
Waiting in line for Toy Story Mania.
We stayed out pretty late and the kids got tuckered out.  Lucas fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
The next day Grandma and Grandpa Crapo met up with us. First stop was cars land to go on Luigi's Flying Tires.  Lucas got to take turns riding it with me and with grandma and grandpa.
Waiting in line for Toy Story mania again.  I love this picture.  And I got the highest score this time around too!  I was so proud.
Lucas meets Pluto
Grandpa got to hold Paige in the Bjorn.
In the Innoventions area they had this Iron Man exhibit with a bunch of display suits, and a computer simulation where it looked like you were wearing the suit and you could move around.  Lucas thought it was awesome.
My mom, dad, and I rode space mountain a bunch of times.  I love that ride.  The last time we got to sit in the front seat, and my brains got a little more scrambled than they had the first few times.  But we got this awesome shot of us...

We also rode the Buzz Lightyear ride a bunch more times and Ryan finally broke a million points.  I can't ever even get over 30,000 so I'm not sure how he did it, but he did.
Right before the park closed, we got a few more pictures in front of the castle with my parents.  A little blurry, but still cute.
We had such a fun time this trip to Disneyland.  I feel like we get better and better at doing Disney with kids every time we go.  It was so much fun to be able to spend time with both my parents and Ryan's parents.  Lucas and Paige are both spoiled by their grandparents and they love it.  Thanks again to my parents for coming down to play with us.  We had a blast!

Disneyland Day One and the Beach

We went to Disneyland last week as a family and we had so much fun!  We were lucky because we actually had both sets of grandparents join us at different points on the trip.  It was nice to have people to trade off with to go on the roller coasters and stuff, and it was fun to get to spend some time with our parents.  Lucas and Paige loved spending time with their grandparents too.
The first day we went to Disneyland with Ryan's parents.  This was our first time going to Cars Land.  It was pretty awesome!
Lucas has always loved Cars and Mater so he was pretty excited to see all his favorite characters.
We actually took this one later in the week, but I'll just post it here.
Both Paige and Lucas were troopers for the whole trip.  They did really well missing naps and being out all day.  Paige was even getting over an ear infection and she was an angel the whole time.  We have such good babies.
Here's a couple ride pics taken with our phones so they're grainy.
The second day we were there, we decided to take it easy and just go to the beach.  We found this really pretty beach to go to, Crystal Cove State Beach, and we were basically the only people there.
Both of my babies LOVED the beach.  I think they get that from me.  I don't know what it is about the beach, but I just love it.  I love sitting there in the sun, listening to the waves.  I just feel so happy when I'm there.  There's probably more beach pictures than Disneyland pictures.
This was Paige's first real experience with the beach.  She loved walking in the sand and watching the waves come in.  She was a little hesitant when the waves touched her feet, but as soon as they went back out she wanted to be down and into everything again.
Lucas was just running around in the waves, getting knocked over and loving it.  We are going to have to take him back to the beach more often, he really enjoyed playing there.
Here's a little video of the kids playing in the waves.

We stopped to have lunch, and Paige kept trying to eat the sand.  I guess that's just what happens when you take a baby to the beach.
Then she decided to take a little nap...
..while Lucas and grandma George looked for star fish in the tide pools.
We kept forgetting to take pictures with Ryan's parents so right before they left to fly back to Utah we took a picture of them with the kids.  This and the tide pool picture above are the only photo proof we have that they were actually with us on this trip.
Thanks for making the trip out to spend time with us, Jim and Cheryl!  We had a lot of fun with you.  Next up, we have two more days at Disneyland and Grandma and Grandpa Crapo join us.
