Progress

We've pretty much finished trim. The closets are done too.

The dining room trim all done.

And the island is looking closer to being done, just a couple more things.

The new thing this week is they have started tiling the showers, and will probably finish that in a day.

Jaxon's/Guest Bathroom

They delivered our kitchen tile as well, and Jason laid them out in the pattern. Think I like it!!

There are boxes everywhere of toilets, sinks, and faucets!

The paint guy has been prepping this week!! Which means there is one guy with a caulk gun caulking every little thing in the whole house. He's come for 3 days, and he's only done 2 rooms. Y'all, slow as Christmas. They are going to have to actually get a crew going instead of one guy! Anyways, we've picked out paint colors, and stain colors for doors and cabinets, so they say next week they will start. We'll see, but that sure might start changing the looks around here!

Cabinets and Trim

About a month ago we started with some "renderings" of the cabinets.

Stared at them for a couple days, thinking and hoping something would jump out at us, if we needed to change anything, decided to make a few changes, and then gave it a go.

The cabinets are in, for the most part!

We are still missing a bathroom vanity, and a few cabinet fronts, and the island is here, but not nailed down, or finished completely.

The Entertainment Center is HUGE! I'm a little worried, but no one else is, so I guess it's fine! And the fireplace is pretty much done too! For that matter, the rock people are sweeping and loading there materials up as we type. Glad they are done because that's been the biggest, white powdery mess!

Trim and doors are also going in! Closet shelves are going in as well!

Did you hear the cry?

Jason was chatting with VR, our builder the other day, and openly asked him, if we would be in the house by Christmas. He started mumbling, and said "Everything would have to go just perfectly."

So, I take that as a, "NO!"

Also, it's taken about 2 weeks to get our cabinet drawings done, which isn't to bad, I guess, but I think it's going to be about a month before they are made and installed in the house. That's the next stage for the inside, so it looks like we will be waiting a while.

If these 'ol walls could talk......

They would say, "Hurry up!"

The walls are up, the ceilings are finished, and in fact the texture is on too!!

They have cleaned everything up inside pretty good, so you can see things better! I love it!

Status Now

As of now, the bricks are nearly completely done. The rock has been delivered, and we are waiting on that to start.  There is rock on the front and back around the porch.

The brick is a re-claimed brick from Dallas, and I was really nervous about it, but it has turned out great.  From the road, the house just looks beige, but when you get to the house, you can really tell the different variations in the colors of brick!

There are 2 huge piles of sheetrock laying around (under the big yellow tarp).  We are currently waiting on the sheetrock to start.  They were supposed to be here yesterday. We have already done a walk through with the cabinet guy, and are waiting on 3D drawings back from him.

The insulation is completely done! They finished up and cleaned up yesterday!

The front and back doors are both in!

We are also waiting on the framers to come back, and finish the front porch. There will be two arches between the pillars that needs to be done.

It kind of feels like it serious business now. Everyone is talking serious, and not joking around. I like it; hopefully they are trying to get us in before Christmas. We shall see. Either way, I still am enjoying the house process, and before we know it, it will be over, and that will be it, forever!

We've decided on a granite that we found in Abilene, and they are extremely close to ordering our bathroom tile.

We're Cookin' Now!!

Well, not literally, but we are making some progress, and I haven't had time to keep up.

We went to Lubbock two Saturdays ago to go to Ferguson's Showroom.  They had plumbing, lighting, knobs, appliances, and fans.  It was fun and overwhelming at the same time. We were there for 4 hours straight, and then ate at Rudy's (YUM), and came straight back home!

The AC Crew has been here for about a week now, and just finished up yesterday.  The pocket doors are in, and the electrical is sticking out the side of the house. I guess that good! :) Everything is ready to start the spray foam insulation today! Pictures later!!

Floors!

I thought I had all the floor decisions made about 3 weeks ago after I brought home samples, took them back, and brought more home.

But, when Jason asked me Sunday night, if I knew what I wanted FOR SURE, I panicked!

So, back to the floor store on Monday morning, and I ended up changing my mind on all of it!! :)

This is the Kitchen, Dining Room, Hallway, Laundry Room, Office, Powder Room, and Craft Room Floor.  It is the one I saw the very first day a few months ago we went into the floor store, and I liked it, so makes sense that I reverted back to it. It meets the criteria I wanted for this floor:
1. Looks like stone
2. Tumbled Edges
3. Comes in a Versaille Pattern

Master Bathroom Tile. Hope this turns out pretty....

Both Kids Bathroom Tile.

Now, the majority of the house has engineered wood flooring.  We haven't made a final decision on it, but here's two we like.

The problem we have with the wood is we both like the dark woods.  And, we'll we live in the middle of a dirt field with young, messy children.

So, we might go a notch lighter on the wood.

And, we haven't really picked out the carpet for the 3 kids bedrooms, and I am on the search for a zebra carpet for the master closet!! I want one that looks more muted like these, but I can NOT find it, and the local stores don't really have that....

Updates

Updates are fun because that means things are happening!!

Plumbing has come and started working on the pipes through the walls.

Electricity has made contact with us. Hoping they come soon.

Framers are doing a couple more things.

Made final decisons on flooring; pictures coming soon.

Bricks have been ordered.  Have a feeling we will be waiting about 3 weeks for any of that to start.

Pre-wire for the Tv's and speakers has come out.

Progress, Progress, Progress makes me Happy, Happy, Happy!!

Done and Done!

And just like that the framers framed the house! With the exception of a couple small things to do, which I think they will do them when they come put windows/doors in.

Dining Room with Trade Ceiling

Living Room, with a corner fireplace, and windows.

Walk through the living room towards the right is the kitchen.

Playroom with 3 windows

Kylee's Room at the front of the house. She has the biggest room, but the smallest closet.

Maggie's Room.  She probably lucked out the best with her room and closet!! :) It's harder than you think to keep things fair when drawing up the kids rooms, closets, and bathrooms.  Making the living room bigger, and the dining room smaller; all of those things affect the rest of the house, and throw off the bedrooms.

Jaxon's Room is the smallest, but a good size closet.

The Roof, The Roof, The Roof is ON!!

And it's just nearly done.  Picture OVERLOAD.

They are going to fix one of the gables on the front right side.  Then I believe they will start putting the boards on the sides and roof of the house.  Hoping they will be done by the end of this week.  It's hard to believe the framers haven't even been here a week yet. It's only been 5 full days!
