Gavin says it all day to everything, but what's great is he actually knows what it means. He just has to show off his new skills and say it all day. So, when he sees a dog he says, "
daw," but not with a strong 'w' sound. He learned the word this weekend at my Mom's, or his
Grammy's, house. She has a chihuahua (
Chalupa. The kind of mean one.) and Gavin crawled over to her kennel and started talking to her. I went over to the kennel and Gavin and said, "Do you see the dog? The dog's name is
Chalupa." He
immediatley said, "
Daw." Of course I jumped up and asked my mom if she heard what I heard. So, I tried again. I pointed to
Chalupa and said, "Dog." Gavin copied me. he pointed and said dog, too. WOW--he's picking things up so quickly. I tried to get it on video and the whole time I thought I was videoing, I had forgotten to push the record button. Talk about kicking yourself.
Today we were leaving H-E-B (getting bananas...I can't believe I forgot them yesterday) and a girl, about 2 years old, was walking in with her mother. In her arm was the Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Puppy. Yup, the one with the crazy blue ears. Gavin's Aunt's Mom and Dad gave it to him for Christmas and he's still interested in it every once in a while. So, I pointed towards them (I know, teaching him bad manners already.) and said, "Gavin, what does that little girl have?" He saw the dog and said, "
Daw." It was SO sweet. I was beaming with pride. The mother and little girl thought it was cute. Of course, the rest of the trip home he kept saying dog over and over. I can't get enough, so I in turn encouraged him by repeating dog every time he said it. :)
If I can ever get a video uploaded, I'll send one because I did get him saying it later at home. If you have any suggestions, please email me (Alana?)!
