Unto us a child is born!

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

I am thankful that Christ has come to save! Rejoice in the Christmas miracle!!

God has blessed us always, but we are especially blessed this Christmas with our newest addition. We have felt His presence more than ever this year!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you have a wonderful holiday with family and friends filled with much joy.

My Memory...

is HORRIBLE!!!!! You know how people always say "Oh, that's pregnancy brain." Well, it continues into motherhood. I know, I didn't believe it either, BUT it has proved to be true for me. In the past week, I have forgotten my pin for my debit card twice!! I am talking checked out, swiped the card, put in (what I thought was) the pin, and then got the: "Invalid Pin." Who does that?
Josh is happy because now I am afraid to buy anything. Great with him!
Do y'all think something is wrong with me? I am 25 years old for crying out loud!

In other news: My baby boy will be 1/2 year old on Friday! I know I sound like a broken record, but my gosh- where does the time go?? So thankful for that little Jack rabbit.

Christmastime in Mississippi

December has been BUSY!! We have literally been living in our car. But, it has allowed us to spend time with family, and that has been fun! Also, we have had lots of help with Jack for which we are very thankful :).
Here we are riding Rudolph at the country club
I love this picture for ONE reason- Jack's smile. Not the greatest of Josh and me. Hello double chins!!
The Sims fam! We are definitely not perfect, but we do have so much fun together!
How could I leave this one out?? I was getting dressed for my company Christmas party Sat. night, and came in the den to find these two sleepyheads!
I love Aunt Claire :)
and Pop

Also, Jack met Santa this past weekend! Of course, he smiled at him and thought he was funny. At this point, my child will go to anyone. It may be different next year, but this year we didn't have any tears! As soon as my sweet husband (ahem), scans the picture; I will post it!

5 months

Well, folks... I am FIVE months old. Can you believe it? My, how far we have come in just 5 months. My life is pretty darn good, considering I am the only child AND only grandchild on both sides. Yep, the world pretty much revolves around me. But, Mama and Daddy should be counting their blessings because I am such a good baby. I heard Mama saying the other day that either I was going to be a "rowdy" teenager or she is going to be "in for it" with the next baby. Only time will tell....
Let's see- what am I doing at 5 months? Our latest, greatest is that I HAVE TEETH! My Mama and Daddy are such dingbats, they didn't even notice!! My aunt Snoozie found them last night. If you can imagine, they feel like horrible parents. Bye, Bye, gummy grin :(. I am getting even stronger, and when I roll over to my stomach, I am kicking my legs and pushing my booty up. Mama and Daddy think I am trying so hard to crawl. Not sure if Mama is ready to be chasing me all over the place!! Also, I am lifting my head and wanting to sit up. Who knows what I will be doing in the next months??
In other news: I am LOVING baby food. But, you better give it to me quick, because I will cry in between bites. Can we say, oink, oink?
Oh yeah, I got a new sitter, Ms. Betty Ann. She is pretty cool, and says I am a very "blessed baby." Mama and Daddy agree, and are so thankful for such a sweet person to keep me when they are away.
I just recently started laughing. Not a full-out cackle, folks, but you know what I mean. Have you ever heard my Mama sing? You would laugh too, believe me.
That is about all I can think of right now. Basically, life is good in this neighborhood. Some things have just recently happened to allow us to stay in Oxford and start looking for a house. Exciting times! I am just pumped about a backyard, and maybe a dog?? Mama says not right now, and Daddy says yesterday. Oh, brother!
Check you peeps later!
H-A-M
Give me that camera, Mama. I am going to chunk it at the wall!
Who is this Santa Claus everyone is talking about? P.S.- I promise my Daddy has a stocking, he is covering it up!

Thanksgiving

How creative are my titles?? Sorry, it is 8 p.m. and I get up at 5 a.m..... Need I say more?

We were fortunate enough to spend Thanksgiving with BOTH families. This is definitely one of the perks of our parents living 1 1/2 hours apart! We did miss Kirk and Caroline, although I don't think they missed us! They were in Europe; bless their hearts!

Jack FINALLY got to meet his other great-grandparents; Gran and Papa in Picayune, MS. Let me rewind; first we stopped in Jackson, celebrated my grandmother's birthday. On Thursday morning we headed to Picayune. After we made our appearance there, we made our way up to Greenwood to see the Whelan side. Whew! It was a whirlwind, but so worth it. Here is some documentation:

How cute is Maw?! I was scared she wasn't going to be strong enough to hold the little Jack rabbit.... He is B-I-G.

I love this picture because it so accurately portrays my family- CRAZY!
Papa, Honey and Jack, Gran, and Aunt Susan
Honey with James (my cousin's little boy), Gran, Jack and Aunt Susan

We think we will keep him :)

I don't know why this is underlined?? Coming soon.... 5 month update (late, of course).

I won't make you gag with all the things I am thankful for, because I know I have been a little gooby before :). But, God has blessed us so much more than we deserve! I now understand that unconditional love parents talk about. I thank God everyday for my wonderful husband and son.

Getting a little sentimental

Because I do a lot of joking about my husband on this blog; I feel I need to brag on him a bit. I was scrolling through my pictures and couldn't help but laugh when I found this one. This picture was taken exactly 5 days before we became a family of 3. People may say what they want about children, and Lord knows we have many obstacles to overcome in raising them, BUT I think we can both agree that so far, it has been the greatest thing that has ever happened to us. It hasn't been easy, and there are definitely sacrifices involved, but there is just nothing in the world like it!
Thank you Josh for giving me my precious Jack man (after all- he is you made over again:)), and for loving us unconditionally ALWAYS! You are such a great Christian leader and example for me. I am thankful God gave me you.

New York, New York!

This Friday, I am heading to the big city!! I am so excited about a little getaway with some close girlfriends from Oxford. I have never been to NYC, and have always BEGGED Josh to take me. He claims he is sad he isn't getting to go, but secretly I know he is happy he doesn't have to pay for the whole thing! My friend, Chandler has a birthday this Saturday and her sweet, thoughtful, selfless (Josh are you reading??) husband is flying four of us up to New York AND paying for our hotel rooms! Husband of the year, Ladies and Gentlemen!!!

Friday night we are headed to a Broadway show (not sure which one yet) and then to eat here:
Saturday, we are planning to do a little shopping--- CAN'T WAIT!! Then, we are going to try and see some museums, Rockefeller Center, possibly Empire State Building? And, Saturday night we are headed here:I am super excited about eating here! 21 Club is the name of it. Have you ever heard of it? I looked on the website and 11 movies were filmed in the restaurant. Also, it is supposedly a big "celeb hangout." My sweet husband tells me they just say that so people like me will go eat there. Well, it worked for me!

My two boys are headed to Greenwood for some loving from the grandparents. Speaking of loving; I am loving on my sweet baby boy mucho this week!!!! I have never been away from him for the night before. He will be in great hands, but Mama will miss him :(.

I will post pictures when we return. Wish us luck. I feel some funny stories brewing for sure...

Lastly, because I can't resist... Look at my little ham! He is a manipulative little thing, especially with his Mama!!! I fall for him hook, line, and sinker.

Phone Pics

These are the pics Josh sends me at work in the morning. Lately, I have been missing my little buddy so much!! Don't let this smile fool you; Jack is not a big fan of the swing anymore. He wants to be held or moving. Once again: S-P-O-I-L-E-D. But could you say no to that gummy grin??

Jack LOVES his Daddy! Nobody makes him smile like him.
My bib reads "My aunt is hot and single"
Look at me sitting up in my bumbo!

Happy Thursday! I thought I would share some of my favorite pics from our phones. The grandmothers like to be updated, so we email these out like crazy!

Fun story: Today, I was getting my hair done at La Rousse, and as I was walking up to pay, I noticed Olivia Manning sitting in the waiting area. I was like, "I wonder what she is doing here." Then, lo and behold, my hairdresser comes to get her! I came home and told Josh that I share a hairdresser with Olivia Manning. His reply was that I probably needed to find a new one, because that sounded too expensive!!! Men!! All they think about is money!

So happy tomorrow starts the weekend! Yay! It is Ole Miss homecoming here in Oxford. Our football team may be in shambles, but supposedly there is "no room at the Inn" anywhere in Oxford! So funny.

Be back soon...

Bittersweet Day

Beating LSU in Death Valley 2008
Josh and me after the Rebels beat Texas Tech- Cotton Bowl 2009

Yes, I know. It was definitely some time for changes around Ole Miss. I know that in the SEC, you have to win or your out.... BUT, I will miss Houston Nutt. What a man of great character and integrity! I have always admired him, and I know he was such a great leader to his players. I wish he could have won a few more games so he could have stuck around. I will always remember going to Dallas for the Cotton Bowl in 2009. Such a fun memory with so many friends from Ole Miss! We wish you the best, Coach Nutt!

Jack's 1st Halloween!

Aunt Jenny and Elvis
The fam
Uncle Sparky with the horsie
Amanda and me. People always ask us if we are sisters. I always take this as a huge compliment! In this pic, I actually kind of see it. We are going on a girls trip to NYC in 2 weeks- CAN'T WAIT!

We made our first stop at the Carr's!
I slept right through it...
We are out of order here. This was earlier. We had to have some wardrobe changes, people.
Can you find Jack??

4 months!

4 months (a little late)! Mama is getting caught up today. Speaking of Mama; she is sad :(. I am already 4 months old and growing WAY too fast. I change so fast, she can hardly keep up. By the way, I don't know if y'all have seen me lately, but I am a HAM!!! I will flirt with just about anybody that smiles at me. Even Mississippi State folks like my Pop. He makes me laugh. Luckily, Honey hid his cowbell, so he can't brainwash me just yet.
Let's see.... what am I doing at 4 months:
My latest trick is rolling over! I can go from my back all the way to my stomach, but once I get to my stomach I get stuck. This makes me very mad! But, let's face it, Mama is so wrapped around my finger she flips me right back over. I am S-P-O-I-L-E-D and I know it! It's amazing how manipulative I can be.
Also, I am squealing and screaming like crazy. I just like to hear my voice and Mama and Daddy think it's hilarious. The other day I got to try some baby food for the first time. Where has this stuff been all my life??? I am still trying to figure out what to do with it once Mama puts it in my mouth? Do I spit it out or swallow it? Soon, I will figure it out!
I am still sleeping good, and you wouldn't believe how much nicer Mama is because of it. That woman loves her sleep. I sleep from about 7:30-6:30. You're welcome, Mama and Daddy.
I just recently went to the doctor this week. Have y'all ever been stuck with that horrible thing?? Worst pain I have ever felt! Mama is such a wuss, she stood in the corner while Daddy held me because she "couldn't look at my face." She was right there to comfort me, though, and only cried a little this time!

4 month stats:

eating- 6 oz every 3 hours, and rice cereal with 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. bottle. Just tried a little baby food 1x a day, too!

sleeping- 7:30-6:30

other fun things- rolling over, lifting my head from my back, squealing, screaming, grabbing at things, smiling

weight- 16 lbs 10 oz. That's right folks, I am a big boy! 80th percentile for weight! You can poke fun, but one day I may take you down :).

height- 26 inches- 90th percentile for height. Mama says as long as I am taller than I am fat, she is okay. Who cares??

10.30.11

This past Sunday, we celebrated Jack's Baptism. It was a special day for all of us! Jack did wonderfully during the service and only cried for a split second. We were so blessed to have so many of our family members here to celebrate with us. We are so thankful for all that the Sims/Whelans' do for us!! It was a memorable day at St. John's!
Parents, Godparents, and Father Joe
So proud :)
Super baby!
Jack's pretty godmother and girlfriend
Aunt Aimee and Godfather Ronnie Wade. Mama says I am not allowed to hear Daddy/RW stories!

By the way- Who is pulling for who tonight?? Whelans say GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!! (Josh's grandfather played at LSU and we both HATE Bama).
