Christmas

Christmas 2009 was so special. At first I was sad that we didn't get to go home and visit our families. But Leif and I ended up having such a wonderful time together with just the 2 of us. We started out our Christmas morning eating Cinnamon rolls and eggs. We then opened the present Santa brought up and found home-made pajama pants. They were great except Lief's already had a hole in it!!Leif also got a surprise gift from our 2 babies. They gave him a picture of themselves with PINK ribbon and a title that said, "We love Dad". Leif was really surprised, and put the picture in his study so he can look at it every day. The reason for the pink ribbon is just a foreshadow of what I think is going to happen.

My sisters wedding

My little sister, Amy, got married this weekend. She was the most beautiful bride and she had such a wonderful wedding weekend. I truly love families, I truly love temples, and I truly love my dear sister Amy. The whole family (except Leif & Alena) Me, Kjersti, Lori, Daryn, and Josett (lovely sisters)

SISTERS

The whole weekend was a spiritual high for me. I got to enter the temple 3 different times, as Amy got married and Kjersti is preparing for a mission. I love temple! Amy's sealing made me miss Leif, and reminded me how important marriages really are. Listening to the sealer made me love and appreciate my husband so much more. I am so excited for Amy and Cody and the lives they are starting together. Congratulations Sister.
Beautiful Bride and Me
On the Friday before Amy's wedding, we had a Maughan Christmas. All of us children decided to make a Christmas gift this year for each other. Josett wrote everyone a sweet letter. Kjersti make us homemade jam, cranberry and strawberry. Daryn got each of us cute frames with pictures. Amy make fun soup mugs. But Lori had 4 girls, so she decided to go to the store instead. Yet, she always picks out cute presents. I ended up making all of my sisters aprons. And they ended up looking really cute. I was just sad I didn't make myself one!! On Thursday I went to school with Amy. She is a first year Kindergarten teach at a Charter School. And man is she great with the kids. These little 5 year-olds just loved Miss Maughan. She got so many hugs and loves thoughout the day. It made me wonder why I ever decided to teach 8th graders! I was thankful that I got to spend a day in her classroom. I felt like my father, because I was so proud of her.

Thanks Giving

It Thanksgiving, and we had a wonderful day. Together we shared this holiday with one of our neighbor friends. It was a great time to get to know this couple better and to enjoy a tasty meal. Everything turned out wonderful and was filling. I really do love Thanksgiving and for the reminder of our wonderful blessings.

10 things I am thankful for.......
#1 I am thankful for my sweet, wonderful, hard working, thoughtful, funny husband. He not only makes me laugh, but he makes me feel loved. I am so thankful to have found the love of my life.

# 2 I am thankful for the future and all the opportunities that comes with it. I don't know what the future will bring, but I know it will be accompanied with many smiles, hugs, laughs, and memories.

#3 I am thankful for trials. Along with an unknown future comes unknown trials. Each trial, does mode me into the person I am today. Trials do bring heart ach, but they also bring joy. Overcoming each trial is a journey of faith, and I am thankful for that journey.

# 4 I am thankful for my family. The world wouldn't be so full of love if it wasn't for families. I look forward to talking with my parents each week. I love to hear their voices and listen to their stories. I love my sisters, brother, and all my in-laws. It is great knowing that there is always someone I can call that will love me uncontrollably.

#5 I am thankful for good food. I can sleep so much better after a good home -cooked meal. Mac-and-cheese, Lasagna, Alfredo, Chicken Parmesan, potatoes with ham, and sweet rolls are just a few of the foods that make my body smile.

# 6 I am thankful for the beauties of this world. How lucky we are to live in a country that has; snow covered mountains, fresh cut grass, rolling hills, crystal clear lakes, fresh smelling pine trees, granite rocks, flowing rivers, beautiful sunsets, amazing sunrises, and so much more. I love the camping trips and visits of National Parks that I have taken over the years.

# 7 I am thankful for technology. It is so nice to be able to talk with family and friends who live miles away. I can communicate with loved ones so many different ways. This blog wouldn't be possible with out technology.

# 8 I am thankful for Sundays. I truly love Sundays, and the peace it brings. Having one full day together with my husband and the spirit is so needed each week. I love everything about Sundays; naps, church, meetings, dinner, taking to family, FHE, and more. Sunday are the perfect ways to start of a week.

#9 I am thankful for my sweet son in heaven. I am thankful for the chance I had to give birth to such a special little spirit. I know Kaden watches over Leif and I. He was a special blessing in our lives.

# 10 I am thankful for our future children, and for the chance I have to be carrying not one, but two, of God's special children. What joy will come as these little children enter our lives.

Exciting news!!!!

On 11/23/09 I went in for my first doctors appointment and was then blessed to have an ultrasound, due to the fact that I had some bleeding. The ultrasound tech was trying to locate the baby as I was silently praying that a baby really was there. And to my surprise she found 2!!! We are having twins. What a small little blessing from heaven. I know this doesn't replace my first baby, but it shows me that God is aware of me. I started to cry on the I had an ultrasound today because I had been bleeding and doctors wanted to make sure everything was OK I started to cry on the ultrasound table and was overcome with the joy these babies will bring into our lives. I am so happy.

We are Pregnant!!!!!

Today was November the 15th and it was a great Sunday. It started out with me waking up at 6:30 and not being able to go back to bed. The reason I couldn't go back to bed is because I knew that I was going to take a pregnancy test, and I had a really good feeling about what it was going to say. So I walked over to the bathroom and laid everything neatly out to take the test. After dropping my pee, the 2 lines appeared very clearly. We are Pregnant!!!!! And it is a July baby!!!!! I was so excited but it was still too early to wake Leif. So I went into the office and wrote Leif a note from the baby. I then went downstairs to read my scriptures. Well, after about 30 minutes I couldn't control my anxiety so I ran back up the stairs and awake Leif from his slumber. I told him I wanted him to go to the bathroom. Leif knew exactly what I was up to, but he humored me and went anyways. When Leif returned, I was given a sweet hug, and kiss and a congratulations. Leif and I are having a baby. We are so excited!!!!!

Happy Halloween.

For Halloween we had a fun party with the young men and young woman in our ward. I had a lot of fun dressing up with the other leaders and eating candy. During our party Leah put on a fear factor where we all had a chance to eat chicken feet and duck eggs. It was quite an experience. I also make a pinata for my first time. It was a lot of hard work, but it held our strong. Me eating a Chicken Foot!!!!!!

Life moves on

So it is November; where does the time go? I can't believe how fast life is passing us by.

Leif is loving his rotations, but is staying really really busy. He now has done pediatrics, Family Med, and just started Internal Medicine. He is working 6 days a week along with studying each and almost every night. When he is not studying, we try to find time to be together.

I am loving teaching in the 8th grade. I love my current position as a class-within-a-class teacher. We just got done doing parent-teacher conferences and I realized that I have the best students ever, all boy but 2!!! I enjoy going into the science and social studies classroom and learning about atoms and world history.
Young Woman's also continues to keep me busy. I am very excited to be gaining 2 new behives this month. I truly love going to mutual on Tuesdays, and teaching my girls each Sunday.

Together we enjoy watching The Office on Thursday nights and having FHE's on Sunday. We are looking forward to the holiday session even though we will not get to see family this year. Life is good, and we thank the Lord for all the blessings in our lives.

Back In Missouri

Life has been moving fast since we came back from our summer trip. I am teaching 8th grade this year and loving it. I have 14 students who I enjoy very much. I am also working at Bravo 3 times a week. Getting my 50% discount is well worth it! Leif has started his rotations and is currently in pediatrics. It is nice to have him rotating because it means less book work and therefore I get to see him more.
Throughout the last couple of weeks, we have really been enjoying ourselves. Lately we have been rock-climbing and playing vollyball with our friends. It has been a lot of fun.

Time in Spokane

Leif and I took the train over to Spokane, where we stayed with my family for 10 days. First off, if you have never taken the amtrack, it is truly an experience!! We truly enjoyed riding the train through the Gorge, and meeting all the friendly travelers.

While in Spokane we did a lot of rock-climbing, hiking, biking, swimming, and camping. My favorite camping trip as a child was Stephen's Lake. And I had the opportunity to take Leif backing into my most favorite site. The hike the shorter then I remembered, but the view was more beautiful. It was a great trip!!

Leif ended up carrying most of my stuff!!

July 21, 2009

My sister Amy and I took what we now call a 2 week ghetto road trip. We called it a ghetto road trip because everything we used was borrowed. And the only food we brought was cans of soups and granola bars. We piled everything into Amy's little Nissan and headed out. We had 5 main stops along the way. First we stopped at Zions National Park, Lake Mead, Mathew's house, Channel Island National Park, Lori's house, and Yosemite. We had a blast together, starting with 2 days in Provo.
The first stop on our ghetto camping trip was Zion's National Park. While in Zion's we hiked Angle's Landing along with Weeping Rock. The weather was perfect along with the company. The ghetto park came when we ate dinner. While everyone was eating a well cooked dinner we made a fire and placed one can of soup on top. I have never tasted a better can of soup. After dinner we swam in the Virgin River as a substitute for our shower. We then went to a Ranger Show and slept in our borrowed tent. Our fast but fun 2 hour stop in Las Vagas!!!!We then stopped at Lake Mead, and only because it was on the way. Amy and I didn't understand why we were one of the only people camping. Now I realize why.... It was HOT!! Amy and I swam in that dirty lake all day, not because we wanting to but because when we got out we were sweating of heat. I have never been in a place more hot. We slept under the stars, not because we wanted to but because it was way to hot in the tent. We did hike but not until it was 8:00 p.m. and we did see the Hover Dam.Amy and I then drove to Mathew & Daryn's house in Southern California. They were both wonderful host and we had a blast. My favorite thing was boggy boarding on the beach. It was fun except for my late sunburn. My new favorite National Park is.... Channel Island National Park. It is a chain of 5 islands of the coast of central California. They only allow 100 people or less onto this island at a time, and the only way to get there is by carter boat. While on the island Amy and I went hiking, snorkeling, kayaking and even saw a pod of dolphins. This is one island I truly would love to visit again. After the visit to the Island Amy and I drove 5 hours over to Lori's house. Lori and Mike currently live in Walnut Creek, California and have 4 beautiful daughters. We had a lot of fun swimming, watching movies, playing and just being together. Our last stop was to Yoesimite National Park. Amy and I did one main hike up to Navada Falls. We ended up hiking past 2 waterfalls and 2 emerald pools. In the end we hiked 4 miles in 5 hours.
