I've Been Tagged!

I was tagged a little before Christmas, but with all the hub bub, I am just getting around to it. So here it goes!
1.Wrapping paper or gift bags? Both! Some presents are just much easier to put in a bag!!! Plus, what am I supposed to do with all the bags we get our gifts in?
2.Real tree or Artificial? Fake!!! It is so much easier...we don't have to water it and the needles are not always falling off & then we don't have to worry about Nathan trying to eat the needles!3.When do you put up the tree? As soon after Thanksgiving as I can. A lot of times it depends on Matt's work schedule!
4.When do you take the tree down? Sometime around New Years, again it depends on Matt's work schedule (that darn Coscto schedule, nothing ever stays the same!)
5.Favorite gift received as a child? I can't remember that long ago...ahh I must be getting old...my memory is already going & I just turned 30!!!!
6. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes, it is one I have had for at least 10 years, I think I got it from my mom when I was in college.
7. Hardest person to buy for? My father-in-law, brother-in-law & brother!!!!
8. Easiest to buy for? My kids. This year, almost everything Ryan saw on T.V. he wanted.
9. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail.....e-amil is too cheesy! 10. There was no number 10. It's like the child that Santa forgot... How sad!
11.Favorite Christmas movie? "So many to choose from!!! I love the Santa Clause trilogy & the original Grinch....the list goes on...so nope I don't have a favorite!
12. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? YES, especially the ones from the Kelley family Christmas Eve sugar cube gift exchange game we play!
13.Favorite thing to eat at Christmas and dinner? Fudge, sugar cookies, dutch babies (my birthday breakfast), almond roca, just about anything!!!!
14.Clear or colored on tree? Either...we have don't colored in the past and this year we did white...as long as it is one or the other...I am not too particular!
15.Favorite Christmas song? Too many to list.....
16.Travel at Christmas or stay home? Stay home. WE don't have anywhere to go...Both our parents are in the valley. Mine in South Jordan and Matt's in Santaquin!
17.Open presents Christmas eve or morning? Christmas Day
18.Favorite ornament theme or color? Mismatch. We get new ornaments each year and so we add to our mismatch each year too!!!. A theme is too formal for me!!!.
19.Most annoying thing about this time of year? Rude people...but they bug me year round. ( I have to agree with Lindsay!)
20. What I want for Christmas this year? Since Christmas is already past...this doesn't apply;)

I only know two people with blogs...so Jenni & Amanda you have been tagged!

Breakfast wtih Santa!

Today was our ward's primary breakfast with Santa. What was so awesome about the activity, is the nursery children were invited, which meant that Ryan was able to go! His first real Primary activity. It was just the kids & me, since Matt had to work, (what a big surprise!) so after the kids ate pancakes we went to the craft room. Here the boys helped mom make "candy cane reindeer"

All Ryan cared about doing was going to see Santa and telling him what he so desperately wanted for Christmas. I was able to get him & Nathan to do the candy walk where each of them one a pack of "smarties", then off to see Santa we went. Ryan was so excited to see Santa that he kind of cut in the line that was somewhat formed to sit on his lap. I scrambled to get my camera out fast enough to get a shot. He told Santa he wanted a, "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" toy, a spinny chair (from Ikea), & a train table (mom convinced him to ask for that one!) He told Santa those so fast and he was done & ready to go home and play. Oh...but let's see if Nathan will sit on Santa's lap.....

Did he????? Did he cry?????

YES!!!!! He sat on Santa's lap & NO He didn't even cry!!!! Good job Nathan!

3 Person Gingerbread House

The boys & I went up to GranDee & Grandpa John's for an eventful evening. After wondering through the children's' section of Ikea the three older cousins, Dylan, Ashley & Ryan got to decorate the Gingerbread house that Matt bought for cheap after Christmas last year!!!!
Ryan had a blast doing the wall around the bottom of the house & telling us where to put the various candies. His favorite part was getting to decorate one of the BIG gingerbread men and then eating him on the way home until he fell asleep! It is fun to see how creative he is starting to get and seeing that crafts such as this are starting to hold his attention for longer periods of time.

Smart Kid!!

One of Ryan's favorite things to do this Christmas season is to have us read "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" by Dr. Seuss. I bought the cartoon version of the movie this year also, which has become a favorite of his.

One day I was reading the book to him and he "helped" me read it. He has memorized several parts of the book and then "reads" them when we get the right place in the book.

Another favorite past time of Ryan's is to watch the "Grinch" movie and read the book at the same time. As with me, he will read parts of the book along with the movie.

I thought that he could help us read the Grinch book because he had heard the Grinch movie & book so many times in such a short time, but then a few nights ago Matt was reading "Green Eggs & Ham" to him and Ryan helped Matt "read" that book too! I told my mom about it, and she said that is how my niece started to read was by memorizing stories at a young age and now she is a brilliant reader! Kids these days are so smart!!!!

My First Dinosaur

Last night we had a little family gathering at Uncle Steve's & Aunt Angie's to celebrate Christmas while Maw Maw was in town. We had a wonderful homemade dinner and all the cousins ran around the house and played together. After dinner, Maw Maw presented us all with Christmas gifts. Nathan got a "Little People" construction set which he loves to play with, Mom & Dad got a snowman tea light candle lamp and I got my first dinosaur!

Now this isn't just any dinosaur. This dinosaur roars, and moves its head all with the push of a button. His eyes even light up green (that's my favorite color!). It came with lots of cavemen and other small dinosaurs and I like to have my big Dino eat the small ones. I was so excited to get the Dino because he helps protect me at night from all the monsters. When he got home that night I even had to sleep with him. My Dino is great! Thanks Maw Maw

Our first snowman

We finally got around to bulding our first snowman at our new house. Actually our first snowman with Ryan. There just didn't seem like we had anywhere at our condo to do it.
Matt built the snowman and Ryan & I made sure Matt had enough snow.

Ryan & Matt gave our snowman a face and clothes to stay warm.

Nathan's first Snow Experience

While Ryan & mom shoveled the driveway, daddy dressed Nathan in his first snowsuit and prepared him for playing in the snow. He was a bit wobbly standing up so daddy had to assist, but sitting was not a problem. Moving while sitting, now that is another story!
He loved the snow, at least at first.
Ryan was so excited to have his brother out in the snow with him to play!
Yummy....nothing tastes better than fresh fallen snow!!!!

Nathan liked the snow for a while, but by the time our snowman was built he was done...he wanted out of his confinement (the snowsuit) and wanted to run amok.

More snow!!!

When we woke up this morning we still had snow on the ground, plus a few new inches and Ryan just had to build another snowman so we could use his hat again to keep a snowman warm! On with his snow clothes and on with the boots for him and mom and out into the snow we adventured! First we decided that the driveway needed to be shoveled and that is what we did. Ryan had a blast "helping" me shovel and there was no method at all!

When we were almost done with our driveway one of our neighbors came out and started shoveling his driveway. Ryan turns to me and asks, "Mom, can I help Gary with shovel his snow?" "If it is OK with Gary," was my reply...so off he ran to Gary's!

Let it Snow!!!

On December 7 my parents came over for dinner and games. Like always Ryan asked GranDee & Papa if he could spend have a sleep-over at their house. So when they left at 1am they took Ryan with theym and drove to South Jordan in the snow. The next evening when I went to get him Ryan was so excited because he had helped build a snowman!
