Trick or Treat...Smell my Feet...and don't forget to say Thank you!

Trick or treating was a blast this year. AJ is now 3 and I think this was the first year he really understood the concept. We are really trying to work on manners and the night started out a little rough, something like this...

*Knock* *Knock*
"Trick-or-Treat"
(then as they opened the door, AJ would say)
"Give us some treats"
this was sometimes followed by a "Thank You"

As his mom I was a little mortified but trying to be understanding that he is only 3 so between houses I tried to remind him about his manners, his response..."let's just worry about ourselves"...seriously what am I going to do with this kid :)    However something must of sunk in because by the end of the night I am happy to report that the "give us some treats" went away and "Thank You" was happening 95% of the time...whew

Jackie, Angie, Brooklyn, AJ, Sunny, Avery, Susie & Lia

As usual the kids got so much candy that when we dumped it all on the counter the next morning and took a look at it we all agreed it was way too much and we would pick our favorites and send the rest to work with dad!

Bones & Cheese Haunted House

Every year Ty (Bones) and our good friend Tony (Cheese) put on a free haunted house for the kid's in Tony's neighborhood...this year it was bigger and better than ever. They are like a couple of little kids getting out all their toys and setting up their "fort".
The neighborhood loves it and there was a steady stream of kids, and adults, from 7 to 10 Halloween night. Our kids are still a little too young to appreciate it but this year AJ was the bravest little guy and actually went through it (he got special VIP treatment and all the "actors" toned it down for him)...we are still working on his big sister, maybe next year!

Here are a few of the highlights...

The Cast...L to R...Nate, Ty, Max, Max's friend, Tony & Paul (Not pictures Ty-man and Logan)

Ty was the scary "gatekeeper" we found some shoes that made him about 6' 9" paired with a cloak and scary mask and he had the patrons pretty freaked out before they even entered...
Paul (Tony's brother) was the "hung man" he gave everyone a pretty good scare at the end of the journey...

If you were not scared of clowns before...

The Jason room...can you find the real Max?

Scarecrow, Nate & Chainsaw Cheese (Tony)...

Creature Encounters

We were invited to attend one of the funnest birthday parties ever! Our friends hired a company called "Creature Encounters" to help celebrate their son Jayden's birthday. The kids, and let's be honest the adults, had a great time interacting with tarantulas, cockroaches, lizards, scorpions, snakes and more...

AJ and his new best friend...

Lia with the tortoise.
Brooklyn & Ty held two snakes...

AJ was Mr. Tough Guy and held a snake all by himself...and mom stayed safely behind the camera!

Giant cockroach ewwww

The Gracious host family...Jason, Lyndi and Jayden (m.i.a Lucas)

The neighbors behind us also had a new addition to their "farm" . My kids are loving giving carrots and apples to the new miniature pony :)

25 Random Things about me...

Did this for Facebook but thought I should add it to my blog ;)

1. I hate to be late, my mom used to always run late and now my husband does...it drives me crazy
2. I have had Juvenile diabetes for 30 of my 32 years.

3. I love bedtime for my kids but after they have been asleep for a couple of hours I have to avoid the urge to bring them to my bed to snuggle cause I miss them. It probably doesn't hurt that they look so sweet and well behaved when they are asleep!
4. Feet bug me, the look, smell, feel...yuck!
5. Believe it or not but once upon a time I was shy and my mom used to have to make me talk to other kids.
6. I hate to drive on I-215, it bugs me and I don't know why but I would rather drive on any other road than it.
7. I am super competitive, and love a good competition and/or challenge.
8. I have often wondered if cows are conscious of their color or spots, like if one cow considers another "good looking" cause she has awesome spot placement. (this often happens on those long drive to southern Utah or Idaho when there is nothing else to look at)

9. Laundry takes me forever but it is mostly my own fault, I procrastinate and I have issues with sorting: darks, lights, brights, whites, reds, denim, towels, sheets... none of those can be washed together.
10. I am a great starter of projects...my husband has now become a great finisher of projects.
11. I have probably heard the theme to sesame street sung more then most due to the name "sunny day..."

12. I love my name even with #11
13. I admit and am well aware that I am a klutz, if some one is going to fall or get hurt odds are usually on me.
14. I have a really hard time saying "no" especially to social engagements or volunteer positions.
15. However I do usually stand up for myself (and others) and will fight for what I feel is right.
16. I think my kids are the cutest, funniest, smartest, sweetest, and most talented...yours may be a close 2nd but I will always believe mine are a little better ;)
17. I was once visited (along with my sister and best friend) by the cops for vandalisms, spray paint on houses, fences, signs, cars, sidewalks...I was 8

18. I love to talk and spend way too much time on the phone
19. I hope to never ever build a house again...this one will hopefully be our last!
20. I love family and friends and love to be surrounded by them
21. Red is my favorite color but I don't like to wear it
22. When I used to work the place I went for lunch knew my order as the "Sunny Salad" I had fine tuned it over the years and they knew just how I liked it...I went in a few weeks ago and they still remembered how to make it :)
23. My kids are the oldest on my side of the family and the youngest on Ty's...they get the best of both worlds.
24. I love volunteering in the classroom sometimes I think I missed my calling as a teacher.
25. I have a pretty good memory, I can remember all my teachers and what grade I had them in, everyones birthday in both Ty & I's family's, events, locations...somethings I wish I could forget :)

AJ's First Day of Terrific Tots

AJ started the terrific tots program at little gym today, it is a two hour twice a week program, kind-of a pre-preschool, really a sanity saving break for mom!

The first couple days were a little rough and he did'nt want mom to leave. He is now loving it and drop offs are completely tear free. He is always very proud and excited to show me his "project" when I come to pick him up.

His two friends Izzy-belle and Lia are in his class and we always have to talk about them on the way home :)

For his class we had to fill out a favorite things paper, a few things I already knew but it was nice to find out a few of my sons unknown preferences:

  • favorite color: blue
  • favorite song: don't give up by yo gabba gabba
  • favorite treat: sucker
  • Favorite thing to do: play building stuff like dad
  • favorite animal: pig
  • favorite show: mickey mouse clubhouse
  • favorite book: pajama time

Music I love...
