Ireland

Well, as you can see from the million pictures--we had a wonderful time in Ireland. Benson did surprisingly well, and it made the trip that much more enjoyable. It is a beautiful country and well worth a visit! I would even say go in the Winter if that is the only time you have--it is a mild climate and it is just gorgeous there! We had such a wonderful time. It was so nice spending a week with just my boys. I loved it. Josh loved it and is already trying to plan a return trip. If you ever get the opportunity--go visit! You'll all love it!

Ireland 1.18.11 (Newgrange)

The last full day in Ireland was the only day we saw snow and it quickly melted as the day went on.
Just North of Dublin is an ancient burial site called Newgrange. Supposedly these tombs are around 3,000 years old. There are a bunch dotting the east side of Ireland, but Newgrange is the only one open to the public and it's also the largest.

No pictures are allowed inside the tomb, but it is surprisingly small for how large the structure is.The interior is shaped like a cross. A NARROW passage leads down the center of the structure and it opens into a small room with three little inlets. They used to lay their dead on these huge stones in the inlets. The tomb only lets in natural light once a year  (during the winter solstice). As the Sun rises on December 21st for 7 minutes the sunlight shines in the tomb. The rest of the year it's pitch black in there. Crazy!!!!
