Disneyland--Day 5 (Last Day!)

Friday, March 26th--As weird as it sounds, I was rather happy today was the last day. I think I've decided about 3 days of Disneyland is perfect. By day 5, my feet hurt like crazy, blisters and all. I was incredibly tired and just anxious to sleep in my own bed again. We still had fun though!
Back in Disneyland, we were first greeted by the Queen of Hearts and White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland (on a side note: there were so many people that had purchased and wore Mad Hatter hats from the recently released Alice In Wonderland, orange, fuzzy hair too!) We took some time to take pictures by Walt's statue and Sleeping Beauty's Castle.

The kids had been wanting to ride Astro Oribitor all week so we finally went over and they rode it with grandpa and daddy.

Next, around the right side of Fantasyland. Elise wanted to stop by Snow White's wishing well. She thought it'd be funny to use her jacket and make it a "beard" so she could be like the other dwarfs.

We rode Alice in Wonderland then Elise knocked on White Rabbits door--aw, shucks, no answer.
Then to Storybook Canal Boats again. From there, Matterhorn and then we went back to Small World.

We took advantage of our Fast Passes and headed to Indiana Jones. This time I got to sit at the wheel. Suh-weet! Such an awesome ride!
Off to Tomorrowland next. Autopia was first, then Space Mountain. I didn't go on either, instead I went to the Star Wars shop and got me a Captain EO shirt and Nate a hilarious Chewbacca shirt. I could have bought so many things in that store. So much of it was cool! I was good though. I met back up with everyone when Space Mountain was over. From there we headed to Buzz Lightyear.

Our day flew on by! Before we knew it, it was time to go back to the hotel. What a great trip! The weather was perfect, we all got along. Elise developed a cold the last day but other than that, we were all healthy. The drive home was the next day and was much less eventful, as far as traffic goes. Just as with our drive to Anaheim, we enjoyed chatting and playing games. It was a great drive home. I was so happy to see our house and sleep in my bed. Who knows when our next trip to Disneyland will be. There is a possibility of a trip in September, going with Nate's brother and his family, but we're not 100% yet. In the meantime we can look back on this trip with wonderful memories and souvenirs. Elise and Brady love their many pennies from the penny press machines, they each have books they are held in. Elise cherishes and loves her lanyard full of pins. And there are tons of pictures!

Disneyland--Day 4

Thursday, March 25th--The picture on the left is one I took of a large board indicating all the changes that are/will being/be made to California Adventure.
Just like Tuesday, we got there when the gates opened. In the main area, by the front entrace, there were a few characters signing autographs. The lines to see them were fairly short so we happily stood in line. The kids were so excited to see Stitch. We had barely missed him 2 days ago. They really love Stitch so this made their morning. We saw Donald Duck too. He actually talked to the kids, something we've never heard the characters do, other than Princess's. And yup, he had the duck voice. It was pretty funny. Nate wore his Disney Hawaiian shirt. Donald Duck was quite happy to see himself represented on the shirt.

When our visit with the characters was through we rushed down to Toy Story Mania to ride it before the lines got too long. We were able to ride it twice. Such a fun ride! We gotta get the Wii game that is the same.

Then off to King Tritans Carousel again. Once again, there weren't any lines for this ride so the kids went on it a few times. Sadly, when Elise got off the last time we noticed one of her pins was missing. We looked all over but never found it. The backs were rubber and quite often would fall off and go missing. We found a bag of rubber backs to purchase but I didn't like taking the risk of her wearing the lanyard and losing more pins. Luckily, we were in a shop next to Grizzly River Rapids and I found a bag of metal backs that you screw on. Once those are on those pins stay on nice and tight. Fortunately, the pin she lost wasn't one she was overly fond of. As we left the pier area we took a picture of the upcoming fountain project being constructed. It's suppose to be as amazing as the fountains at Bellagio, in Las Vegas. I can't wait to see it!

After a few more rides, we headed over to Disneyland. Dan & Rosemary headed over to Frontierland to catch a few shows and we headed to Toontown. We hadn't done Toontown yet and the kids were quite anxious. We went through all the houses. The kids loved it alot. Toontown gets pretty crowded so we made the best of it.

After Toontown, we met back up with Dan & Rosemary for a ride on Splash Mountain. Elise and I stayed off and relaxed. Indiana Jones was next. Nate was thrilled he finally got to ride in the "drivers seat". He never has before. For some strange reason, I end up in the "drivers seat" quite often. It's kind of fun hanging onto the wheel. Then onto the Jungle Cruise.

From Adventureland, we headed back to California Adventure for some yummy ice cream and then the Aladdin play. Such an amazing play! It's unique every time, in many ways. We enjoy watching it and it gives us plenty of time to rest our feet--some of us even take a snooze.

After the awesome play we headed back to the hotel. We drove to Taco Bell for dinner. Then Nate took the kids to the pool while I attempted to do laundry at the hotels laundry facilities. That was a joke and a half. I ended up wasting more money than I want to think about trying to do 2 1/2 loads of laundry. The few items I could "salvage" were worn for the next few days and then when we got home I washed everything all over again. UG!

Disneyland--Day 3 (Happy 8th Birthday, My Sweet Elise!)

Wednesday, March 24th--What an expensive birthday! Brady has already informed us he expects the same for his 8th birthday (Oy vey!). We started out the morning waking Elise up to a table of goodies. Along with the birthday Stitch and button I got her the day before, was two presents from my sis, Amanda, sent from Hawaii (she sent an oriental dress and oriental pajamas), and a gift card from Nana and Papa. She got a quick glance and then we all got dressed and ready to go before she opened her presents. Grandma and Grandpa came over to our room, when we were ready to go, and also presented her with a birthday card and money. She was quite thankful to get more money to spend, as her funds were almost depleted.

We caught the bus and headed back into Disneyland. We let Elise pick the first several rides. Her line-up of choice: Peter Pan, Storybook Land Canal Boats, Dumbo, Casey Jr. Train, Mr. Toads
Wild Ride and Alice In Wonderland--basically all of Fantasyland.

Well we did all the rides in Fantasyland the gang headed over to Matterhorn. While they rode that a few times I took Elise over to Pixie Hollow. It's a new addition to Disneyland and Elise was quite anxious to go but the lines had been quite long the last few days. The line wasn't so bad so she and I got in line. It took a while but we were able to see and get autographs from Fawn, Tinkerbell and Terrance. It was a very cute little area and I know she enjoyed it quite a bit.

After Pixie Hollow we were off to Nemo's Submarine Ride. Perhaps it's growing up in the Pacific Northwest and all but this ride does nothing for me. I don't know why, it's just a "been there, done that--all my life" type of feeling. Everyone else enjoys it and I'm happy for that so I go along. Fresh off the submarine, it was time for our reservation at Breakfast with Minnie and Friends. We LOVE coming here whenever we're at Disneyland. It's a delicious breakfast buffet, complete with Mickey Mouse waffles, and characters come to your table to take pics and sign autographs. It's not cheap but well worth the money for both the food and no hassle/lines when visiting with characters. Throughout the morning and all day long, Elise got "Happy Birthday" wishes from so many "cast members". The characters at the breakfast are: Minnie, Captain Hook, Pocahontas, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Brear Fox, Max (Goofy's son), Chip and Dale.

With our bellies beyond full it was time to walk for a bit. We stopped on Main Street at the silhouette shop. Rosemary had silhouettes done of her children when they were young, at the same place, and I've always admired them. We stopped in and asked how much they were. We were happy to hear they were affordable and decided to get both Elise and Brady done together. The lady that did the silhouettes was amazing! As she gabbed with us all she looked at Elise and Brady's profiles and clipped away. She was done in 10 minutes! With both! And they look just like the two. I am still in awe when I see them. She clipped two of each and they were put on a paper. The frames were affordable too so we bought two. One is in our front living room and the other in our bedroom. One day, we'll pass these on to each of them as a remembrance.

After a train ride around the park, Elise and I broke away from the rest of our group to shop with that birthday money burning a hole in her pocket. She knew exactly what she wanted---more pins for her lanyard. She had spotted some adorable Haunted Mansion pins and wanted all 4 of them. She already had one so we set out to find the other 3. It took many shops to locate them. I was suprised she was so dead-set on getting them considering all the fun things she saw in other shops before we found them. It took almost all of the birthday money to get them but they are her pride and joy, as is all the special pins she found on this trip.

When Elise had made her purchases we met up with our group again and headed over to the Mad Party Tea Cups. Brady was throwing a bit of a fit, saying he peed his pants when he really hadn't (I'm guessing he just didn't want to go on the ride but wouldn't say so). Off to Buzz Lightyear from there and then off to Downtown Disney. We walked through World of Disney and got a few birthday presents for other members of our family with birthdays coming up. Then went to the Lego store. Brady and Elise adored this place and it was hard to get them out. Elise bought a bucket of various Legos that she got to choose and fill with.

From Downtown Disney, it was time to head back to the hotel. It was a long day, but a fun one and I think Elise really enjoyed spending her special birthday at Disneyland, a place she loves dearly. When we were rested and hungry, we headed to Red Robin for dinner. I gave the waitress a heads-up that it was Elise's birthday. Several of the staff came and sang to her and then gave her an ice cream sundae. She loved it and it was a perfect ending to her birthday. It wasn't long after we returned to our hotel room that we were all fast asleep. Today was one of our best days and I know Elise felt that. I enjoyed celebrating her special day with her in our families favorite place.
