American Idol

So obviously one of my favorite shows to watch is American Idol.. Real people, really singing, with real competition. Its great.
My sister got two tickets to go to the show yesterday VIP and decided to take her hubby. Needless to say I was a little bummed considering he doesn't even love the show like I do, but what can you do. I did however get a call from her an hour before they were leaving informing me that they had one extra ticket and it had my name on it if I could go.. ummm Hello you don't even have to ask twice.
What a fun night it was. Not only did we get to meet all the contestants (except Jordin and Melinda.. they left early) but we met a few other celebrities and rubbed elbows with a couple other Hollywood folk.. included Ken Baker who is one of the top reporting Celebrity gossip hounds for US Weekly. I love that trash.
It was one of the funnest nights we have had in awhile, and I was sad Baker didn't get to go, but got over it since he was at the Angels game.
Thanks Becks for thinking of me, and thanks to Colton for scrounging up that extra ticket!
PS. Please excuse the pregnant face in all these pictures.. I promise you that when I look in the mirror I do not look this pregnant. They are right that the camera adds ten pounds.

First we saw former idol contestant Brandon Rogers.

Me with power house singer Lakisha!

Our favorite family man Phill Stacy. Who did absolutely amazing last night.

Oh Word! Blake Lewis the beat boxing king.

A new favorite of mine.. Chris Richardson. He was maybe the nicest of them all, and has really come around vocally.

Unfortunately we didn't get to hand with Jordin and Melinda, but at the same time they were taping dancing with the stars so we did get to meet and mingle with a couple of them.

The host of Dancing with the stars, Samantha Harris.. who is pregnant too. She is so tiny in real life I couldn't believe it when I had my arm around her waist. They all were.. her Janice Dickinson and Paula. So Tiny!

Cheryl Burke.. my favorite dancer. This season she is dancing with Ian Ziering who is from my favorite show as a kid. 90210.

Brian, who him and his partner were cut a bit early from the competition.

We also got to meet Simon's girlfriend Terri Seymour. Three words.. Legs for Days.

The American Idol Judges.. Yo Dog Randy Jackson.. Funny clap Paula Abdul.. and Attitude Simon Cowell. Ha.. we had so much fun!

Thanks again to Rebecca and to Colton.. I had so much fun!

Two Things I am Completely Over

Numero Uno
So every morning Baker and I watch the Today show while we get ready. Well more while Baker gets ready and I wait for the very last second to get out of bed. I normally enjoy this time getting and staying up to date with the nation and world news. This week however, has been a little repetitive and a little annoying. Morning after morning there is a huge story about Don Imus and the apparent "racist" remarks he made about the Rutgers woman's basketball team. First of all what was so "Racist" about these remarks? There were no profane comments using the N word or names that refer to the color of their skin. I wake up every morning and have "Nappy" hair so should I be offended? If anything, Mr Imus referring to these players as hoes should be the problem. Not a racist problem, but a sexist one. Even then as a woman I'm not offended by this. Why has this turned into such a racial debacle? Would this have been able to be made such a big deal of if there would have been just 1 white girl on the team? I'm still trying to figure this all out.

I should state that I do not listen to Don Imus, and quite frankly had no idea who he was until all of this surfaced. Therefore I am not biased in my opinions. Did the guy really need to be fired? And why is it alright for the singers to rap about things like this, and African Americans to refer to each other this way. A complete double standard that is getting quite old.

Here is a team that has just as much nappy hair as the next. And if you look at the second girl in on the left.. that is about as nappy as it gets. And would you look at that, she is white. How about number 32 or 25? Neither of them black, but both with a Nappy head. Which makes me think this.. maybe this shouldn't be a race that is offended but rather an organization. Women's basketball.

Numero Dos
Why is gas so stinking expensive right now. I am over it.

* If any of the girls on this basketball team happen to run across this blog. I apologize. Just a girl trying to make a point.

Who Would Have Thought..

That my Husbands best friend would have the coolest wife? It's not very often you find a pair that meshes, and its even harder to find one that meshes as well as we do with the Jones'. So thank you Baker for having such a fabulous best friend, and thank you Matt for having an even more fabulous wife. And to that, thank you Kay for having a birthday so I could write about how cool you are.

Happy Birthday Kay!

My Latest Obsession

So anyone who has come to our house knows how much Baker and I love frozen yogurt. There is a fantastic "FroYo" joint just on the corner of our neighborhood that has been a Morphy Staple since we moved in. Self serve, wide variety of flavors, and all the toppings that you could imagine right there for your taste buds pleasure. My personal favorite is the marshmallow flavored yogurt with rainbow sprinkles. Sound good for you? Probably not, but I still love it.

So I'm not sure if we have overdone it, but I have been feeling like I need a little change, but don't want to give in to the ice cream just yet. I have been looking for an alternative for quite some time, and was pleased to find one finally just two miles from our house on Main. It's called Beach Berries.

Unlike most frozen yogurts, Beach Berries doesn't have that artificial flavor. It's not just a Yogurt flavored soft serve ice cream. It is to die for. It literally is like they took a carton of plain yogurt and froze it. Perfect blend of creaminess, and the perfect tart flavor. On top of that, they don't have a ton of artificial toppings like cookie dough or fruit toppings drenched it sugar loaded sauces. They only serve fresh fruit toppings, granola, chocolate chips, dried fruit, and a few different cereal options including my personal favorite Fruity Pebbles. The stuff is amazing. I can't wait to get one tonight.

Ummmmm

So I decided that I was going to go register today on my lunch break. Baker has been fighting me about going since I mentioned it last month so I figured that I might as well just do it without him.

I walked into Babies R Us thinking it would be as easy as registering for our wedding. Man alive was I wrong. It was one of the most overwhelming things I have ever done. Ever. I didn't know where to start or what to get. I have no idea what I am going to need and what I am not going to need.. and do people even buy things off your registry anyway? In the hour that I was there, I managed to get 15 things on my registry. 15! A third of those were just the basic shampoo, lotion, powder and Butt Paste. Really? Am I that clueless?

I wanted to run out of there as fast as I could and cry. Through all the mess there was one great thing that came out of it. I found this:

Its a little cup that you put over your baby's "Wee Wee" when you are changing them so you don't get a squirt from the little geyser. Can you believe that? Too bad I am not having a boy.. I would love to embarrass him with pictures of him in this when he gets his first girlfriend. Hilarious.
