#HeadlineTherapy Burkina Faso must ‘forget’ about democracy military leader says.

Thanks to Wedaeli Chibelushi and BBC News Online for the headline

Captain Ibrahim Traore who seized power three years ago in a military coup has said that Democracy will not work in Burkina Faso and also that it was a way of Governing that perhaps did not “fit” with Africa in general. His thoughts on Politicians were that they are “divisive” and perhaps outsiders class him as a revolutionary who is rebelling against the historical and real threat of Western Imperialism. Perhaps he is right.

Whatever happens, hopefully a rule will emerge that the Country’s resources are used to benefit the people and not squirreled away in Swiss Bank accounts or used to buy arms from those very same Western Imperialists or indeed their Counterparts in the East.

It is a fine line to tread and I wish him and the people of Burkina Faso hope for their future.

#HeadlineTherapy ‘Very lucky to be alive’: Buzzard left trapped in car grille makes ‘remarkable recovery’

Thanks to ITV News for the Headline

A buzzard was hit by a 4×4 vehicle in Oxfordshire and ended up impaled on the grill at the front of the car.

Amazingly, it survived and although it had to be carefully removed by Wildlife Rescuers and Vets, it lived and it’s injuries were treatable. A damaged wing and a head injury. The buzzard will live to fly another day and after a period of rest and recovery will be released into the wild again shortly.

Watching….

Daily writing prompt
What Olympic sports do you enjoy watching the most?

There used to be a time I only wanted to play sport,

If someone said what do you watch? I’d quickly retort,

“I like to play sitting on my bum isn’t fun,

To be honest I think it’s really dumb,”

However as the years have caught me up,

Am I tempted now to watch the Cup?

The answer is no.It’s still the same,

Afterall they’re only playing a silly game.

A rustic living room with a fireplace, a television showing football, and cozy seating.

#HeadlineTherapy

Headlines are made to grab your attention, to make you think about whatever someone has put in the Public Domain and for whatever reason wants to prioritise or in the worst case scenario hide.

So a few days ago, I read that the Nobel Laureate and Iranian Human Rights Activist , Narges Mohammadi who is imprisoned in Iran had became seriously ill from the conditions in her jail and despite having a suspected heart attack has not been allowed proper medical treatment or hospitalised.

I have to admit the Headline shocked me. The news has unfortunately gone quiet, but I was quietly tending my garden yesterday and I suddenly thought how I wished Narges was with me in the Peace I was experiencing, with the soil on my hands and seeing things begin to grow. It was a hope that suddenly didn’t seem so forlorn and it made me realise how futile all this aggression really is and how important freedom is.

I cannot help Narges but I am thinking of her and I hope she knows there are many in the World thinking about her too.

#HeadlineTherapy Everest guides accused of poisoning foreign climbers to force fake rescues in $20m scam

Thanks to Amelia Neath & Shweta Sharma and Independent News Online for the Headline.

Well who would have thought the criminal fraternity would go so far as to ruin the reputations of the likes of Sherpa Tensing and also ruin the landscape of Everest itself, scattered with tents and discarded equipment.

Apparently from 2022 to 2025 a total of 4782 international climbers have been “poisoned”, including lacing food with large amounts of baking powder to stimulate gastric distress. The scam was to claim on insurance for aerial evacuations. The scam included a range of participants including ” actors” who faked illness in order to be rescued.

So far the bills to the insurers and the climbers for fake rescues have amounted to $20million dollars.

Honestly if this article had been published on April the 1st , I would not have believed it.

Community Improvements?

Daily writing prompt
How would you improve your community?

I know my community a little better,

Having been here twenty years,

Their little quirks , prejudices and also their strange fears,

On the whole they are not a a bad bunch,

A little gossip about tittle tattle over lunch,

Where’s the harm in that?

It took us all by surprise when Esme told us who killed her cat,

She even knew the murder weapon,

It was Gerard’s cricket bat,

Gerard didn’t perform the terrible act,

Apparently ,it was number forty-seven,

The man’s mental health situation sent Esme’s cat to heaven,

His house is now up for sale for an unrealistic price,

Seems the owner thought he decorated it very nice,

We chatted about it and all thought the same,

He’d only been there five years and the colours were insane,

All in all we live our lives,

Some bury bodies others tend hives,

I don’t think much will change in our Community,

We appreciate now and hope we get our place in posterity,

We deserve a plaque or perhaps a few,

For being here and also sharing time with you.

#HeadlineTherapy Artemis II astronauts manually pilot Orion: Nasa video shows spacecraft heading towards moon

Thanks to Times of India Online for the Headline

So many ideas hit me when I read this headline and saw the video attached to it.

Really was it safe to send those astronauts up there in the middle of a crazy presidency where resources are now on the brink of scarcity due to Politicians?

Secondly, the video of the spacecraft looks like a metal box detaching itself, not exactly a spacecraft. It’s like the back of a silver articulated truck.

Oh well it’s progress I suppose?

Covid….. Cough, Cough

Daily writing prompt
How have you adapted to the changes brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic?

It took a biological threat to slow us down,

To makes us unhappy and to frown,

For suddenly hugs and kisses were banned,

And for viruses we were all scanned,

It hit loved ones hard when visits they could not make,

And no one could go to Uncle Ben’s wake,

The Politicians guffawed and said it would last a week,

Until Boris ended up in a heap,

A hospital stay and some time on a ventilator,

Gave him and Carrie some ideas,( of that a bit later)

Meanwhile we worried about what was going to happen,

It wasn’t that we had any hatches to batten,

All we had was advice and information was bitty,

Then we saw on telly Professor Chris Whitty,

He seemed to know a thing or two there wasn’t much he didn’t know,

That mad professor look was not for show

The vaccines were nearly ready ,

And everyone should keep their arms steady,

They needed volunteers to arm the stations,

There’d be plenty of oranges for practicing sessions,

Cooks cleaners anyone would do,

It’s like the War we need you!

So like lambs to the slaughter we made a leap,

It might bankrupt the Country but life wasn’t cheap,

And there the sad story ends I’m afraid,

From fear and isolation a plot was made,

Government Contracts galore were awarded,

To be honest it really got very sordid,

It didn’t matter if the PPE leaked,

Who would notice if the ventilator squeaked,

Boris and Carrie saw a golden egg,

They could retire to Greece with and not have to beg,

A contract here and a contract there,

Let’s face it we were screwed and were told ” Buyer Beware!”

Polished golden egg surrounded by ornate white masquerade masks and sealed paper scrolls.

#HeadlineTherapy Holocaust survivors in France came home to stolen apartments, looted furniture and bureaucratic hurdles

Thanks to Shannon Fogg, Missouri University of Science and Technology and The Conversation for this Headline

The displacement of refugees after the War, particularly the Jews who had had their property and businesses confiscated by the Nazi’s in lands that they had invaded.

Unfortunately even through all the suffering to those who if they weren’t killed themselves lost whole families in circumstances that for us, though we can read about it , we will never understand fully the trauma or appreciate the feelings associated with the experience of being so hated as someone wanting to destroy us.

Yet today it still happens.

However, this article from “The Conversation” details how even on their return to their homes, those displaced Jews did not or could not get immediate relief. There was no welfare effort to help them re-establish their lives , no, as I recently heard a “Modern Charity ” asking for money for Gaza call it ” Mental Health Aid”.

Those who survived and I think very much for Simone Veil, a phenomenal French Lawyer, and Human and Woman’s right advocate who survived Auschwitz and the Holocaust and recently passed. She overcame all of it and continued to pursue a wish for “rights for all”.

Administrations and Governments very often lose sight of the “rights and wrongs “of this World. I have no doubt that it’s only the people who can keep them focused and we must never forget that one man’s cruelty can affect millions, and prejudice and bad judgement can infiltrate and persist and needs to be constantly monitored.

Sad to say, this article made me realise how easily bad behaviour and lack of understanding can affect those who have been dealt severe blows and deserve empathy not disdain.
