Day 14 and 15 of December: Ballet and Caroling

Day 14: Here's a pic of a bunch of my friends who all went to go see my amazing ballet dancing friend Sophia (who's in the green plaid below me in case you wanted to know). She was the best toy soldier in her ballet school's performance of the Nutcracker by far :)

Day 15: Here are some pics from when some home school families and ours got together to sing at Aegis (an old folks home). Matt performed a hilarious poem about the Gingerbread man, and my friends and I performed a crazy funny version of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. But, besides just what we did, other kids performed many different things as well. And as a group we sang about 5 different songs for everyone who was willing to listen.

Some homeschooling families who sang at Aegis are below:

Matt had a blast as you can tell ;)

Even Abby got into it!!!

Day 17 of December

Now this pic is outside a museum in San Jose where a bunch of home school families, including ours, went to see a ton of dead bodies. At first it sounded disgusting, but it was actually pretty interesting to see things like in example: what a person's lungs look like who have smoked compared to a person's lungs who have not smoked. After seeing that I can pretty much say that I will always hold my breath when walking past a smoker, and basically NEVER smoke.

There were also kinda cool things to look at like in another example just the blood vessels, or just the skeleton of the body, or just the muscles of the body. Things like that made it way easier to focus on one thing in the body at a time then the bones, nerves, muscles etc. all clumped together.

Here's Matt with a group of some of his buds outside the museum also.

Thankfully we weren't allowed to take any pictures of the dead bodies (you're probably very thankful for that too) But we had a really fun time, and being with our friends made it waaaaaaay more enjoyable. So word of advice if you ever go to this attraction in this museum grab some friends so you won't have to look at the body parts all by yourself.

What a first 11 days

Our first 11 days of December have been filled with excitement. Yesterday my friend and I went to see The Chronicles of Narnia The Dawn Treader, as my belated birthday present. And let me just say that movie was amazing!!! I love Disney and always will, the Chronicles of Narnia series is great, I highly recommend seeing every single Narnia movie by Disney and Walden Media any day :)

And today Matt had a basketball game, that well let's just say to put in short, interesting.

1st thing that we noticed was that the score and clock keeper were not doing their job very well.

2nd the ref's were just a little weird (maybe they were just tired from reffing so many games that day)

3rd about 3 or 4 times there were 6 people on the court

4th but something we've never seen for the 4th grade before was the half time show. A boy 8 or 9 years old came racing in through one end of the court and out the other on a trike (that sat very oddly low to the ground, maybe to help him with the drifting and spins that he did during the game!?)

Yes we will never forget that game.

Remembering December

Ending November -

Lizzy - 1st thing in the month of November I got to celebrate my 14th birthday! It was super exciting, and kind of weird, because I realized that that means next year when I turn 15 I will be entering high school and leaving middle school. Time really does fly!
- Saint Mary's 8th grade girls basketball team just participated in a 3day weekend tournament called the Turkey shootout, played in Pleasanton. We didn't win overall as much as we may have liked, ending up in 5th out of 8 teams. But I definitely scored some personal achievements I've been working hard at, so I'm very happy about that.
Matt - Unfortunately Matt's team didn't enter the Turkey Shootout, but his past games have been very impressive, we love watching Matt drive the ball to the hoop, foul, and make his shot. Way to go Matt!
Abby - Well out of all the basketball games we've been to in the past month Abby has learned that she cannot sleep peacefully when a buzzer goes off for 5 seconds every 10 minutes.

Beginning December -

Abby - Whooooo!!! Abby's first Christmas is coming soon! We are so excited to pick out an ornament for her, decorate the house, and possibly host part of Christmas this year :) We just got our tree Friday and finished decorating it today! Although we may be finished with the tree there's still much to be done, like buying presents, singing in rest homes, making a Christmas card, and figuring out costumes for my Aunt Julie and Uncle Dylan's annual Christmas costume party. hmmm. . . . . ?!?!?!?

- Matt and I are getting excited for our school break, but I personally am not too thrilled for all the work that needs to be done before then. I need to do my science preparation for my presentation, finish writing my paper based on the Iliad, a History test is to be taken, and of course all the reading that goes along with every subject :) But Matt, Grandpa, and I are hoping to get away from worries by visiting my Great Grandparents today, but in the car ride I might be doing some school work (it is a 6 hour ride to their house and back).

- Oh and yesterday I did have a blast ice skating with my youth group. Although it was very crowded and busy we still 'chilled out' and had a fun time knocking each other over from behind, and screaming! The pic at the top is of some of my friends and I posing on the ice.
Keep checking in with us to see all the things we will remember as we enjoy Abby's first December
