So I'm going to try and briefly explain some of the I guess you could say memorable events that have occurred in our lives these last couple of months----
Number 1--I haven't blogged for any of you readers in over 30 days!!!!!!!!!!! That's a lot and I want to apologize especially to our friends and family in Oregon or for those of you who don't see us very often. After reading through this whole post maybe you'll know why it's taken me so long to sum up what's happened around here lately.
2--OK so as a lot of you may know our family was diagnosed with the wonderful Pertussis, better known as the whooping cough. Thankfully we did not nearly reach the terrible symptoms of not being able to breathe and using an inhaler!!! There's ALWAYS something we can thank God for no matter what the circumstance.
I know it's hard to believe at times, but trust me I know, I live with my family. LOL. Just Kidding.
Anyways this cough can supposedly last 90-100 days, and thankfully those days are almost up :) (Oh and by the way, we are not contagious anymore as of more than 2 weeks ago, so no worries)
3--Before discovering that Matt, Dad, Abby, and I had this horrible cough we attended our CHD (Classical Home School Day) History event, which was great!!!!! This year's historical event was held at North Creek Church in Walnut Creek (where we live) and we had a Roman Feast! It was wonderful, there were slaves serving us (but they weren't real slaves though they were mainly just high school student volunteers), we met Cleopatra, Julius Caesar, Octavian, and more memorable people. But don't worry I won't sell you guys short, I will definitely be putting up a new post just with pictures of our family in toga's!
Including Abby believe it or not :)
4--Well as much fun as the Roman Feast was it was actually rather sad, because it meant that our school year at CHD was coming to an end :( As much as Matt and I miss seeing our friends on Wednesdays during CHD we also miss our CYO basketball league. Matt and his team--Walnut Creek's Saint Mary's Spartans--had an awesome year doing very well throughout the whole season and at their Thanksgiving tournament "The Turkey Trout" where they placed 2nd!!!!
- My team was also Walnut Creek's Saint Mary's Spartans, we weren't quite as great overall during the season as Matt's team, but by the end of the season we were invited to two different tournaments: The first one being the West Diablo/Tri-Valley CYO league where we were ranked 2nd aka the runner up. And the second tournament we were also placed 2nd as the championship runner up for the whole Oakland CYO Diocese. Yeah I know two 2nd places but hey I grew in my game and that's what the goal was right?
Well anyway that's how I look at it.
- So after my CYO league finished up I started a new spring league called Camelot, which is a development program with mainly high school players. This is the next step up for me in basketball and I'm already to show you some of my bruises from last Wednesday nights game. By the way we lost, but like I said we're playing in a high school league, but my team consists of 6th through 9th graders.
So it's a big step up for most of us :-)
5--Enough about basketball Matt started track!!!!! But due to our seemingly endless whooping cough, Matt was unable to run in two meets because the first one was when the illness started to kick in and Matt said "I really can't run because I don't feel good at all"--Matt's not a quitter so we knew this was bad. And the second meet Dad, Matt, and I were put on isolation for 5 days which overlapped with his track meet.
But like I said, there's always something to be thankful for.
Thankfully neither of these track meets had anything to do with progressing into the CYO Oakland Diocese for track (by the way CYO stands for Catholic Youth Organization and runs basketball, track and field, and cross country sports which are the key leagues around our area). Yesterday Matt ran in the Semi-Finals for the Oakland Diocese and since Matt and I are still not at our superb best, health wise, he decided not to run for a fast time but only to place. Matt ran a 6 minute mile. Good game plan Matt. Not surprisingly at all Matt placed 3rd, and only the top 3 runners get to move into the Finals, and then the top 3 runners from the finals move to the Diocese! So Matt has another race to run this next Saturday which will tell us is he moves onto the official Diocese. Wow. That's a mouthful and we're so proud of our fast kid Matt, I know he will go on to accomplish great things. ----- I''ll also be posting a
quick video of Matt doing awesome in yesterday's race.
6--OK I just realized I've haven't really said any big news about Abby!!!!! And she's probably the whole reason you're reading this blog, so anyway let's move onto her ;) This is Abby--"I crawl, wave, pull myself up on things, high five, eat big girl foods, oh and I can clap!!!!!" So much excitement for such a little person! Now again I will be making a separate post of pictures and videos of all the new talents Abby can perform! So keep checking in for all these new adventures soon to be posted.
7--Oh hey speaking of babies two of my Uncle's wives are going to have a baby!!!! Yay more cousins!!! Not that I don't already have enough, just kidding! We love our cousins dearly, and love spending time with them. What is it about cousins that just adds sunshine in your life? A lot :P Yeah so this means that Matt and I are up to a grand total of 9 cousins, pretty thrilling for us.
P.S. In case some of you don't know our cousins here's a brief description: On dad's side of the family we have 2 cousins and they're sisters named Erin (20) and Kymee (18) who live in Oregon.
Then on my mom's side of the family there's siblings Michael (8) and Katie (4) and then there's Emma (5), Grady (3), Landon (1), and their new sibling who is still yet undiscovered :) Oh and of course there's Auntie Kimberly and Uncle Craig who are having their first child due sometime in September and are finding out this coming week if their new blessing is a boy or a girl!!!!
8--Hey number 8!!!! Maybe for graduating the eighth grade..... Yep that's right this June I'm graduating from the eighth grade and moving onto high school!!! Exciting and kind of nerve racking at the same time. For my graduation the eighth graders and high school seniors have to give a presentation, which at first I had no idea what I was going to do, but praise the Lord for ideas! I'm now starting to get ready for this speech which I'm giving and I'm really looking forward to sharing it with all of you on the blog soon.
9--OK so this news isn't that big, but it's more of an adventure that I want to tell you about. So mom, Abby, and I went to a CHEA (Christian Homeschool Education Association) convention--which is a convention for homeschooling families to attend. Mom went to the administrator conferences and a bunch of my friends and I went to the teen conference. The CHEA convention was in Santa Clara and it was quite exciting for Abby--in the stroller most of the day, without any real places to crawl around, meeting many new faces, sounds, and baby holders. Oh my!!!! Yeah she was a little overwhelmed, but she was never bored.
Besides just being at the conference, Mom and I especially enjoyed some get away time from home. We went to
In N Out 3 times in 3 days (which by the way, again, if you've never been to
In N Out than you haven't lived yet!!! LOL it's a fast food restaurant which we love and usually can't get enough of, if you didn't already notice). And we got our daily coffee--Carmel Frappachino's with whipped cream are my favorite!!
10--And lastly just wanted to let you all know how ready we are for summer!!! Yep we have some big plans! No not really actually we're just ready to take a break from all the chaos, but each time we look forward to this break more and more seems to jump out at us. But that's ok we're loving every minute of it and are looking forward to what plans God has in store for us :)
Hopefully this post didn't bore, and if it did I truly apologize *wink*wink ;)
Keep checking in for new video's and photo's! We would love to hear your comments!
