Saturday was truly a Special Day

On Saturday March 27th Nathan was baptized. It was such a special day. We were so proud of Nathan for taking this important step. We were also grateful for the love and support from family and friends for this memorable day.

Preston's mom aka Nana gave Nathan a white towel that was embroidered with his name and baptism date on it that he used to dry off after he was baptized.

All the cousins that came to the baptism. We are missing 3 from my side. These kids also sang the musical number for the baptism and they did a great job.

Nathan and his cousin Rachel. She will be baptized in June.

After the baptism a lot of the family came over to our house for a luncheon. Here are most of the kids eating pizza in our backyard. (fyi: if you let kids have a picnic I recommend bringing the extra food in right after and not let it sit on the blanket for a couple hours. There were ants EVERYWHERE!!!!!)

Nathan wanted a pinata for his party too, so we got one that was Optimus Prime.

Natalie would touch the bat to the pinata and just giggle and pose for a picture. It was funny.

We then ate donuts (Nathan doesn't like cake) and opened presentsThe present from us was the traditional set of scriptures for your 8th birthday.

After presents we went and played at the park. This is Taylor running with a kite. Now that is what I call happy.

Nathan and Daniel flew their dragon gliders.

They rode bikes and played on the playground and just had fun enjoying the spring day.

That night Preston's side of the family went out to dinner at Famous Dave's. The restaurant sang to Nathan and he got this really cool thing of ice cream with the sparkler on it.

Just a random picture but I wanted to document that Nathan went to his first day of scouts on Wednesday the 24th. He got the scout shirt from my mom. Now I just need to sew on the missing badges and troop #

Our Zoo Trip

On Monday March 22nd we took advantage of the beautiful weather and headed to the zoo.

I gathered a group of other mom's and we went in as a group and the cost was only $4 a person. We brought Hayden along with us. Here is Nathan and Hayden posing.
Taylor's friend/cousin Grace came along with her mom too. Here the girls are checking out the Orangutang's.

Nathan and Taylor going up to view the giraffe'sAll the kids that were in our group. There were 16 total.

At lunch time they had a blast throwing food to the squirrels. That is Natalie's bald head in the bottom corner of the picture. She was on her own adventure, she is not one to follow the crowd.

Before we left I let the kids ride the carousel one time since we got in for so cheap I figured I could splurge on the carousel this one time.

This is Natalie at the end of the day. She was wiped out.

Nathan's 8th Birthday

Nathan turned 8 on Sunday March 21st. His really big day is this Saturday when he will be baptized but we did do some celebrating last weekend that I wanted to post about. Last Saturday night my sister Sherri babysat for Taylor and Natalie so that Preston and I could take Nathan out to dinner. Nathan chose to go to Texas Roadhouse. He sat right next to his dad because and I quote "He is another boy" Nathan loves spending time with his Dad and likes to be his little buddy. I think he gets tired of how often he is the only boy with 3 girls.

I did get him to come to my side of the table long enough to get a picture with him. I can't believe how fast he is growing up and what a mature little man he is becoming.
We let him get a motorcycle balloon from the balloon guy that was at the restaurant.

He got to sit on the saddle and swing the towel while they talked about his birthday.

Eating the ice cream sundae they give to those celebrating their birthday.

Nathan celebrating on his actual birthday. Funny side note. Nathan wore is Dash Incredible shirt. After he put it on we had this conversation.
Nathan: Mom do you know why I am wearing this shirt today?
Me: Because you are incredible
Nathan: Well yeah but there is another reason. Because Dash is fast and I am growing up really fast.
What a clever little man.

Blowing out the candles on his brownies. (he doesn't like cake)

Recap of the past few weeks

Our past few weeks have been pretty busy and I have been good at taking pictures. I am finally making the time to post the pictures.
Last Saturday the 20th we went to the temple grounds as a family for our Stake Primary clean up day. Our groups job was to clean the lights and signs around the temple and the surrounding gardens. Preston and Taylor took the lights that shine on the Temple

When we first started. Then Nathan and Natalie and I set off to do the fixtures around the gardens. It took me 2 days to get the vinegar smell off my fingers that we used to clean.

Natalie and I dressed up in green for St Patricks Day.

Nathan and Taylor making sure they would not be pinched. That morning I made green waffles. When Nathan came into the kitchen and saw the waffles he said Wo What Happened! Then remembered it was ST. Patricks Day

On Tuesday night (16th) it was our ward Blue and Gold Banquet.

Nathan with 2 of the 5 incoming Wolves for this year.

Natalie turned the age of 18 months the end of February but due to Stake Conference and her being sick her first day of Nursery was March 14th. She loved it. When we walked in her eyes were huge. The leaders say she is very well behaved. That makes me happy.

My kids have really been getting along quite nicely lately and I have captured a couple with the camera. Natalie is actually asleep after curling up with her big brother and big sister.

Craft time at the kitchen table.
Nathan received an award at his school pride assembly. It was the Perserverance Award. It is given to students that portray: Goal setting, Goal Achiever, Always give their best effort and Hard Worker. We were very proud of him. This is a picture of him after the assembly the ones I took of him receiving the award didn't turn out.

Taylor and Natalie at the awards ceremony with their pretty pink visitor badges. They cheered hard for their big brother.

At Nathan's school during the 3rd quarter the students participate in a student led conference. Nathan is reading to us from his folder and demonstrating some of the work he has done. Taylor is looking on with interest.

A couple of weeks ago our car was in the shop for a couple of days and the dealership gave us a loaner car. This is a really nice suburban. I really liked it and was sad to give it back.
Not a great picture but I wanted to document that Nathan started a Fun with Science class with the city. They do different experiments like make homemade ice-cream with ziploc bags, test the density of water by adding salt, a simple version of a lava lamp. He is really enjoying the class.

At the end of February Nathan finished his winter basketball season. He is getting a medal from his coach. His skills are really improving and he is currently participating in the spring season.

His coach treats the whole team and their families to a pizza party at Peter Piper after the last game. The coach is very generous. Preston and Nathan are shooting some hoops at Peter Piper.
