My 32nd Birthday

Saturday April 24th was my 32nd Birthday. The weekend was full of free things from different restaurants that I signed up in their Birthday clubs. Thursday night I went to Red Robin with my Mom and Sherri to get my free gourmet burger. Then on Friday night we took the kids to eat at Rubio's (free meal for me, Nathan had a free meal for doing Pat's kids run, and a free taco for signing up in their club)

Then on Saturday morning I got to sleep in. Preston and Taylor made ham and cheese omelets and orange julius with fresh strawberries. After my wonderful breakfast we headed to the church for Nathan's friend Hayden's baptism. Hayden and I share a birthday so he was able to get baptized on his actual birthday. The two studly 8 year old blondies.
Taylor had to get a picture with them too. She is always telling me that Hayden is her best friend too.

After the baptism we went home and I opened my presents. Here I am modeling the 2 pair of earrings that Natalie got for me.

Preston surprised me with a new iPod touch. I was shocked and I hope I can figure out how to use all the applications.

Posing with the kids and their presents with me. Taylor picked out a purse/bag for me. She kept telling Preston she wanted to buy me a purple purse for my birthday. The best they could find was a black bag with purple lining. Nathan picked out the movie Blind Side. That is a really good movie if you haven't already seen it. I just have to point out here that I can't believe how tan my kids are and summer hasn't even officially started. Especially Nathan. I look like a ghost next to the 3 of them.

Picture moment with my handsome wonderful Husband. He really does a great job at making my birthday special.

Then we went to Joe's BBQ for lunch. (yes another free meal for me). To Nathan's credit he wasn't aware that he was in the picture but this is the only one I have of all 4 of them.

Me at Joe's sitting on the bench all by myself. After lunch we headed to Nathan's basketball game. Happy to say he made a basket during this game too. He is improving at every game.

Nathan's team is all boys but they play in a coed league. Nathan guarded a girl the whole second half. He says it is weird playing against a girl. Preston of course teased him about this girl. He would say "Nathan she is cute did you get her number" Nathan's response was "Oh Dad come on" She was cute and a good little player.
After the game I took a NAP it was GREAT!!!! When I woke up I went to get a pedicure at JL Nails where you get a free design on your birthday.

Aunt Sherri came over to babysit the kids and Preston and I went out on a date. We first went to Black Angus for dinner. (Free steak dinner baby) Afterwards we went to Dave and Busters to see what that place was like. It is basically a mix of Chuck E Chees and a Las Vegas Casino. I wasn't that impressed to be honest. We played some ski ball. (Preston beat me every time)

We played some arcade games.

I do not play the car race games I usually end up going the wrong way. I did play whac-a-mole. Preston mentioned he wish he had a video of me playing that one.

We played a lot of basketball Shoot Out. That was my favorite thing we did. Preston beat me most of the time but I did manage at least 1 time of winning.

After Dave and Busters we went to Cold Stone Creamery. (free ice-cream, gotta love it) I really had a great day. It was fun to spend so much time with Preston. I also got a lot of birthday wishes by phone, text, facebook and cards. I really felt loved and that my Birthday was a special day. Thank you everyone.

Pat's Run 2010

Today I participated in Pat's Run. It is a 4.2 mile race held in Tempe. The race ends on the 42nd yard line inside Sun Devil Stadium. The purpose is to honor Pat Tilman who played #42 at ASU and died while serving in Iraq. The proceeds of the race go towards scholarships for veterans and their families. There was a record turn out this year, just under 20,000 runners ran the course.

The race was supposed to start at 7am so we got up way too early for a Saturday morning and left the house at 5:30 am. Here are the kids right after we got to the race. Natalie's face makes me chuckle. Her expression tells a story of "Yeah I am here and it is 6 am. Is this some kind of joke?"

Me before the race.

While I was running the kids played some video games, got some free stuff, met some mascots etc. They were really late starting the race. I was lined up for a whole hour before I actually crossed the starting line. So the kids had a lot of time for play. The final stretch, I had about a quarter mile to go at this point. I mustered up a small wave to my kids and Preston. I am in the middle of the picture to the left of the lady wearing black shorts and a black tank top.
My friend Hollie signed up and did the race with me. I was so glad that she did. She kept motivating me throughout the whole race. This is after the race was done. Happy to report I finished the 4.2 miles in 53 minutes 2 seconds. My goal was 1 hour so I was very pleased with the results.

Nathan participated in the kids race this morning. They ran .42 miles and also ended on the 42nd yard line. Nathan never ceases to amaze me at his running abilities. I am so proud of him. I don't know what his time was, I am guessing around 3 minutes. After he was done he asked if that was all he was going to run. He is very used to running at least a half mile 2 times a week during running club.
Before Nathan's race started.

After Nathan's race we had to pose in front of the finish line. To showcase our accomplishment.

I then took Nathan around to get autographs from Sparky and some of the ASU football team.

His shirt after he was done getting autographs.
This is what Taylor looked like on the drive home. She was pooped, you would think that she ran a race, maybe next year. That is cotton candy all over her face. I don't think she will care for this picture much when she gets older, but I had to take it. It sums up how I was feeling after the tiring morning.

Money for Mom's

Hello Family and Friends

I have made a fundraising goal for myself for the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure.

I challenge myself to raise half of my fundraising requirement by Mothers Day. I will call it Money for Moms.

Here are the specifics: I need to raise $1150 to reach my halfway mark which is about $1000 more to raise in a little under 4 weeks.

Please go to www.the3day.org/goto/julie.scheier to donate or click on the widget on my sidebar.

Once again feel free to do any or all of the following
1.Pass on my info to your family and friends
2. Link my donation website on your own blog.
3. Talk to your employer or spouses employer to see if they match employees charitable contributions.

Thanks

Easter 2010

Last Wednesday my Sister Sherri came to our house and made these little treats with my kids. She always does the cutest things and is an AMAZING Aunt. (and Sister)
Nathan's finished product.
Natalie enjoying the one Aunt Sherri made for her.

Taylor starting to make hers.

Her finished product.

Friday afternoon we headed to Eagar to spend the weekend with Preston's side of the family.
We originally intended to go on Thursday night so we could snowboard on Friday but the resort ended up closing on the 28th of March. There was plenty of snow but the crowds were dying down so they closed. Bummer for us. We did have a nice relaxing weekend nonetheless.
So here are the girl cousins dying Easter eggs.

All the gang and Nana after eggs were all colored.

Then Preston's sister Andrea and I went in the backyard to hide the colored eggs and some plastic eggs that had candy and some had money in them.
The gang before we released them to some egg hunting.

In the act of hunting.

Natalie enjoying the thrill of the hunt.
Taylor grabbing an egg.Scopeing out what area she will search next.

Nathan would not act normal for a picture so this is what you get. He is a goofball.

The Easter Bunny still found the kids in Eagar.
Nathan received a Bakugan some Pokemon cards and candy.Taylor and Natalie each received a stuffed animal some play necklaces and rings and some candy.

Natalie enjoying some of the above mentioned candy.

Some random pictures.
This is Preston and Natalie after the Saturday afternoon session of General Conference. So sweet.

Picture of Natalie enjoying some library books.
No picture proof but I have to post. While we were in Eagar Preston and I went to a MUSICAL with his parents on Friday night. The High School performed The Sound of Music. Friday was April 2nd so I am not pulling an April Fools joke. If you know Preston this is a big deal he does not do musicals. He was kind enough to please his Mom and Wife by going. I told him if I could go to a Metallica concert with him he could go to a musical. When it was intermission Preston's comment was "This is seriously only half way over?" Oh how I love that man. I just wish I took a picture for documentation purposes.
