Its about time I post this. Paxton "Cowboy" William Pollock was born on December 29, 2011. We joke that he is our rebate baby because we had him in 2011 for a better tax return. Unfortunately all of that child tax credit and more went to medical bills. Tuesday December 27th I went in to my doctors appointment and was told that I was only dialated to a 1 and that I would be induced on January 12, 2012. I was pretty upsey by this news because I was already feeling pretty crappy. The next day I was still feeling crappy but was getting ready to go to Ephraim for our family Christmas party. That night we drove to Provo to help Kami move into her new apartment, we then went to dinner in Lehi at Texas Roadhouse while waiting for a table I kept telling my mom that I was uncomfortable from Braxton Hicks contractions. She wanted me to start timing them and see how far apart they were. As we timed them they were about 5 minutes apart. They were not very painful at all so I did not think much of them. By the time we got home I was still having them pretty regularly. I decided that I would go get checked to see how far along I was to see if I should stay in town or just take it easy. When we got to the hospital I was dialated to a 4 and 90% efaced. The doctor wanted to wait an hour and see if I was truly in labor. They started to get uncomfortable by that time. When she checked me at midnight I was at a 6 and 100% efaced. The nurse asked me if I wanted a wheelchair and I told her I felt just fine. When we got to the room she asked if I wanted my epidural and I told her I might as well so when they do start to hurt then I wont feel them. Before I even got my IV in they were ready for the epidural. Me and Larvin then fell asleep. My progress slowed down so they sped me up which made Paxtons heart rate go up so they slowed me down. Then the doctor came in and broke my water. Within 5 minutes I told Larvin I was ready to push. The nurse ran to go get the doctor. I was shaking so bad trying to keep my legs closed. It hurt so bad. Even with the epidural I could feel quite a lot of pressure. The doctor told the nurse that I should do a couple "pratice" pushes. I felt relieved to push but then when she saw it was coming faster then she thought she closed my legs again. Finally after which felt like eternity but probably 5 minutes the doctor came. It took 2 pushes and he was out. The nurses did a "skin to skin" which I highly do NOT recommend. They came me Paxton and left the room. He was very very purple and would not stop screaming. There were no doctors or nurses and all I wanted was for them to take him and make sure he was okay. They had me hold him all the way to my new room. He was still purple and still screaming. They then did take him to the nursery. That was the last time I saw him that day. No one called me or said anything. I finally asked where my baby was, they told me he was in the NICU and that they would call and inform me. That they did not. Finally I got a nurse who called and told them they needed to tell me what was going on. Paxton was having a hard time breathing and his lungs were not developed enough. I was released on December 31, 2011 with no baby. It was so weird leaving the hospital with Paxton still there. Paxton spent an entire week in the NICU. (I do not wish this on anybody) But everything is now great and I have a wonderful happy healthy baby.
