Tummy Time - necessary evil (3 weeks old)

Like most babies, Everley just loathes tummy time.
But, it's good for her so I'll do it. A little bit. Not the ridiculous 30 minutes a day her doctor recommends. That's just impossible. Not that she couldn't do it, it's that I can't stand to see her so upset. So, we'll do it. A little bit.
She's just so pretty.
Yummy Little Sunflower. :)

Sisters - (3 wks old)

I loved growing up with a sister, and I miss my big sister, Melissa, terribly. Especially when I think of how much she would have ADORED my children, and how they would have adored her.
In my daydreams when I was growing up, when I pictured what I wanted my life to be, it was this... A handsome and loving husband,
a sweet son,
and 2 little girls. God has so blessed me with a life I always dreamed of. Although after my sister passed (even though I still really wanted to have 2 girls) I was concerned that having 2 daughters would be too emotionally painful for me. Specifically because I thought it would actually cause me pain to watch the bickering and sibling rivalry that inevitably comes with sisters. I now realize that the joys will far outweigh the difficulties. And of course God knew it would be good, and gifted us with these 2 beautiful girls to love. I wouldn't change anything for the world.
I have delighted in watching my 2 girls bond with each other. I am imagining they'll have an unbreakable connection and amazing friendship that will last their whole lives.
I love watching Avery take care of her baby sister, she is so caring and such a natural.
Watching her "read" books to Everley warms this Momma's heart
I couldn't be more thankful, and can't wait to watch them grow up together!

Everley's 1st Bath @ 3 wks. old

Everyone gathered round to watch Daddy give Everley her very first tub bath at 3 wks old, after her umbilical cord healed.
She didn't mind an audience one bit.

Notice her hair is already curling up !!!!
all cozy in her towel, still warm right out of the dryer.
And Daddy made Momma get out from behind the camera...
there is no better smell on earth than a baby right out of the bathtub!
Here's her after-bath chill face
She slept for a few hours after this!!! YAY!

Tiny Strawberry @ 2 wks old

I saw some ADORABLE strawberry outfits while I was pregnant, and asked Avery if we should get them for Everley or if she wanted to be our only strawberry. Avery was absolutely certain that she wanted Everley to be a strawberry girl too! SO sweet! As you can see, Everley was REALLY excited to wear this outfit. (Actually, it was the bow that really pushed her over the edge.) Thankfully she got used to it, because bows are an absolute must for our girls.
Notice the next picture of Everley...
Now, this is a picture of AVERY when she was 2 weeks old. They look EXACTLY alike !!!!
LOVE it.

Everley - 2 weeks old

I can't seem to take enough pictures of this tiny girl !!!
oh my goodness, that sweet belly!! She's a fantastic eater! The nurses in the hospital were so impressed with her immediate latching prowess. She eats about every hour and a half, and sleeps about every minute in between. She is almost constantly being held by one of us, but sleeps in her bassinet when we absolutely have to have our hands free.
And she's got Momma's long legs!
I spend ALL my time holding her, staring at her, and inhaling her. Daddy, Reilly & Avery can't get enough of her either! I hope all the camera flashes aren't damaging to her sweet little eyes!!

Our Girls' Room

Avery & Everley are sharing a room, and Avery couldn't be happier about that! Here are some pics...
