Birthday Girl!

My baby girl turned 2 years old last week! We had such a fun day with her. We are so blessed to have this beautiful little girl in our lives. She has the funnest little personality. And even though this age comes with it's challenges (what age doesn't :) I'm lovin every minute! So some things about my Kiya:
- She had her 2 yr doctor appointment the day after her birthday. Her stats: 24.5 lbs - 30th percentile, 34 inches - 70th percentile, don't remember her head measure but it's in the 5th percentile - the girl's always had a small head :) and she's skinny and tall - it's all that energy cuz the girl definitely has a healthy appetite!
- She loves candy or "treat" and even though mommy will give in, she knows daddy is a softy and will almost always. In fact if mommy says no she'll go straight to daddy and try to work her magic with him!
- She still loves the phone. She'll bring me my phone and say "daddy" or "papa" and want to call them or anyone else for that matter. If I say no not right now she's says "work" - if someone isn't home or not available they are at work.
- She loves daddy's cars. Lance has been working on them lately, he takes her out and she sits in her stroller and watches daddy (it's the cutest thing) the girl is ACTIVE and at first I didn't think this was going to last but she'll sit in there for even an hour and just watch him. She loves his jeep especially and riding in it!
- She is definitely at the mimic stage. She is quite the jabber box and will try to copy and say whatever you say and do. Funny example - we were driving somewhere and I think the car in front of us was going especially slow, so Lance said "come on buddy" and this little voice from the back seat says "buddy, buddy" it was her new favorite word for a couple days :) She puts lotion on her legs, mousse in her hair, brushes her teeth, and puts makeup on with mommy.
- She's becoming more and more independent - she likes to wash her hair in the bath, and the newest thing is dressing herself. I'll put her clothes on for the day, and then Kiya puts on over them whatever articles of clothing she can get her hands on, she's put on daddy's shorts like a skirt her whole body through one leg, multiple layers of shirts, underwear, skirts, daddy's socks up to her knees, and tops it off with a hat, lately it's been her sun hats :)
- Loves the outside, she's always asking mom and dad to take her outside and walk or go play on the "wee" - playground. It's turned a little chilly the last few days, but before that mommy and Kiya have been going to the pool a few days a week, she loves playing in the water.
- She goes to night night so good, I LOVE that about her :) we'll put her down and then she'll usually play for a half hour in bed with her animals, baby and books. It's so funny to listen to her in there singing and talking to her animals and baby.
- Kiya is quite the little helper. When we need to go bye, Kiya brings daddy his shoes, mommy her shoes and then puts her own shoes on. Loves to throw things in the garbage, she takes the trash and says "away". She likes to close the blinds at night when daddy asks her. And likes to walk to the mailbox and help bring back the mail to mommy.
- She has a cute little sense of humor. She thinks it's hilarious to steal mommy or daddy's seat. If she knows we'll be sitting down somewhere she'll run and sit there and then smile and laugh like it's the funniest thing.
- She gives the best hugs and kisses - especially when she wants something :) or when mommy is sad and when either one of us gets back from being gone - I love that, I love coming home to my little girl who is so excited to see mommy.
This little girl is truly the light of my life. I love her so much and can't imagine life with out her. I'm so grateful to have her.

I blew up a bag of balloons the night before, so when we came downstairs the morning of her birthday she was soo excited to see "boons". She played with them all morning it was so cute.

We took some lunch to the park and let her play on the "wee". Her favorite was definitely the swings, and she was such a big girl swinging all by herself.

She rarely gets pop - she calls it juice, so she was chuggin it down!

I thought this was cute, the playground was more for older kids, so daddy got in there to play with her :)

My Favorite Pic

We went out for dinner that night. Kiya's favorite part was definitely the birthday ice-cream at the end!

All the goods. Kiya was a spoiled birthday girl, mostly thanks to her generous grandmas and great grandma!

Books from grandma Riddoch, the doggy book is a new favorite for sure! She also got this awesome alphabet pocket board. Thanks grandma Riddoch!

Money, money, money MONEY! She wasn't sure about this, but mommy made sure and got her something fun with it :)

Thanks to Great Grandma DeHaan she got two new BEAUTiFuL dresses. She opened them and kept saying "dresses oh pretty dresses"

Kiya had the whole unwrapping thing down!

She loves this Noisy halloween book from Grandma Cook. Thanks mom :) It has push button that makes it light up and play loud music. Kiya can't push the button so she brings it to mommy and daddy and says "push push"

She also got puzzles from grandma Cook this one makes animal noises - so cute! Thanks Grandma Cook!

Kiya got her first baby doll from mommy and daddy. She was so cute with it. Everytime the baby would get a boo boo or owie she'd bring her to mommy to kiss it better. All night she said "baby, oohh baby". She'd sit and rock the baby and say "shh baby" and then put the baby in the stroller and push her around and tuck her in the baby carrier. It was the sweetest thing watching her take care of her new baby. I have a feeling her baby sister will be getting MUCH love from Kiya :)

LOVE this picture!

This was so sweet. She had finished opening all her presents and just jumped right up and gave me the BiGgeSt hug. The last thing I expected was a thank you (especially without being coaksed or anything) from my sweet little two year old. It made me want to cry. She really does have a tender little heart

Daddy was such a good sport and put together Kiya's baby stroller. I remember my dad putting together doll houses, strollers, all manner of girl things. I love seeing my husband now doing these things for our daughter. He is such a wonderful father, I'm so blessed to have him.

Hmmm, oh yeah this is going to be good!

Dainty.

Alright let's get down to business here!

Summer Continued

Here's the rest of our summer pics! For the last half of the summer we were in South Dakota. We really liked it there too, a lot smaller town than in Alabama - which was kinda fun, reminded me of my home town in ways. My sister Katie was a secretary for the office for the summer, so she lived with us! It was sooo much fun to have her, and not to mention a HUGE help to me - especially for my prego sick weeks :( It was hard to let her leave us and go on to college. Kiya still loves talking to "Tatie" on the phone :) I wish I had more pics, and I did, but somewhere between South Dakota and the move home our camera was lost. But it was a fun summer, there were a ton of wives in the office. We all had such a good time together - we'd have So You think You Can Dance nights and Friday lunches and shopping trips, and it was so nice to have so much support in a strange town during the summer where you see your husband maybe 3 or 4 hours a day!

This was after church one Sunday. She looked so cute, so I was trying to get pictures. And Kiya thought it was funny to run from mama. I love that mischevious look on her face. The string cheese she wouldn't give up adds a nice touch as well :)

Little smartie pants figured out that the dishwasher makes for a nice stepping stool to get to treats on the counter!

Summers mean LOTS of time at the pool, with her best buddy Laena, of course!

A few Sundays we all got together and had a barbeque at the park - the swings are definitely one of Kiya's favorites!

All ready to hit the doors lol! This was on our way up to South Dakota, she loves to put on daddy's things, especially hats!

Christine, Katie, and Kiya. There was a really fun waterpark in South Dakota we'd go to, since the pool at our apartments was indoor and not very kid friendly.

Laena bug with cute cheesy nacho face :)

Still downin that icee lol

Lance's brother Craig was a tech for the summer and it was his birthday. Katie n I decorated a cake for him, and might've forgotten a word lol.

Yep, she's a girl!

Daddy and Kiya dancing. He's such a good daddy, most mornings he would get up with her while mama tried to sleep through some of the morning sickness. Even though I'm through all that he still gets up with her a lot of the time so my prego self can sleep a little more, he's so good to me!

Have I said how much I love this baby! She loves brushing her teeth and pretending to floss.

For the fourth we had a big barbeque and the guys set off a ton of fireworks, good times!

When the summer was over for us we drove Katie back home and spent a few weeks with family. Kiya slept in the room next to Kyle's, so most mornings he would get up with her. He's such a good kid, how many ten year olds would do that?!

This is what happens when Katie get ahold of the camera - I have quite a few of these pics :)
