Summer activities

My grandma came into town and we were able to take this 4 generation photo. Calvin finished playing soccer and is now playing baseball. They overlapped for 4 weeks of craziness. It is fun seeing Calvin learn a new sport and as Joel confirms,"He's got to know how to play America's sport".

Last Day of School

The kids finished school. Hailey and Oliver were sad to leave Kindergarten. Calvin is ready for 3rd grade. They are all excited for the summer.

Easter Dinner

Our family went to my parents house after church. We had an awesome Easter dinner with ham, scalloped potatoes and awesome desserts.

Dressing up for Church on Easter

We had a fun photo shoot with the kids' new Easter duds. Last year Oliver complained that he didn't have an Easter bonnet so this year I found a hat for him and Calvin so they wouldn't feel left out.

Easter Morning

The kids and us had fun hunting down their Easter baskets with clues hidden inside of Easter Eggs.

Easter Egg Hunt

The kids had an Easter Egg Hunt at their Elementary School on Saturday before Easter. They had a great time. Jade didn't have a problem catching on the competition thing when candy was involved. Oliver was elated with a prize egg.

Easter Egg Dying

Easter Egg dying was a little less chaotic this year. Always an exciting tradition.

More of Glenwood Springs-Spring Break

It was fun to have the kids skiing better this year. Maybe next year we will be daring enough to teach Jade. She was definately interested in riding the lift.

The highlight for the kids was the Hot Springs Swimming pool. The air temperature was really cold but the water felt great.

Spring Break

We went to Glenwood Springs to go swimming and skiing. We had a great day at Sunlight ski resort. Hailey and Oliver were skiing on their own by the end of the day.

The roads were partially closed getting to Glenwood Springs due to a snow storm. Joel was stressed driving.
Oliver's biggest request was the dragon pinata. Calvin finally busted it open and the candy diving began.
His buddy Elliott gave him a water gun for his birthday. A popular present.

Mom and Dad helped with the games including indoor balloon volleyball. Then outside for Bakugan battles and Bakugan rolling games.

The 6th Birthday Celebration

Oliver wanted a Bakugan themed party. I did my best with the cake. It is a Bakugan dragon make from rice crispy treats. Oliver thought is was pretty cool.

He enjoyed eating pizza with his friends.

Oliver's 6th Birthday

Oliver had a great birthday. He started the day with chocolate waffles for breakfast. We took this picture because it reminded us of his two year old chocolate face (see the picture on the wall behind him). We went to the movie Monsters vs Aliens. We left the next day for a spring break vacation in Glenwood Springs.

Snow Fort

The kids and I had fun building a snow fort after one of our spring snow dumps. The boys got "tired" faster so they retired to the house. The girls hung around and "helped". It was perfect snow for fort building.

New Orleans

Joel's parent's took us to Emeril's and another fancy restaurant by the French Quarters. We ate great food. We went and listened to a Jazz Band and we were so close my knees were touching the stage. We were a little deaf for the next few hours but well worth it. The man playing the trumpet was awesome. His name was Jamil Sharif. We went on a Swamp Boat ride through the Lousianna swamp looking for alligators. Calvin was the co-captain. We held a 3 month old alligator and our captain fed marshmellows to the alligators to attract them over to our boat. Joel wasn't sure that seemed like a good idea. We got a closer view of them that's for sure. The largest one was called One eyed Willie. We all loved it. The kids had lots of fun staying at Grandma and Grandpa's condo. They especially liked the roof top swimming pool.
