The Glorious Food

Here it is my friends!  The giant tupperware full of snacks that we have made a tradition of taking on our long trek to the midwest.  Miranda christened it "The Glorious Food" last summer when Sam first created it.  (Aaron tried to name it "Snacks Galore" but it never really stuck.)  It is a subject of absolute fascination for the kids and for their cousins, who still remember it from last year.  Here are Daddy, Chad, Bethany & Amber at the grand unveiling of this year's snacks.  Don't you guys wish you had "Glorious Food" at your house?

Goodbye Kyra! Sniff! Sniff!

Pictured above are the two cutest 4 year old friends you will ever see.  Kyra moved here with her family near the beginning of the year.  Before that time, Amber was the only Sunbeam girl in her class.  Oh, the fun they have had.  They held hands at ward picnics, they played princesses, they built blocks, they made colossal messes like this one.  We were devastated that Kyra's family had to move this weekend to an orthodontic practice in Los Alamos.  Amber gave Kyra her favorite princess phone and a miniature Book of Mormon so that Kyra would always remember her.  Come visit Kyra!

Summer Kids!

Chad was at High Adventure and Helaman's Camp this week.  He said the mountain biking and river rafting was a blast - the ropes, not so much!
Here he is working on the rope course.
The drama for the week occurred when Chad cut his finger whittling and his scout leaders had to meet me in Santa Fe where I picked him up and drove him to the emergency room.  I don't know what capillary that boy cut but it must have been major because we could not get that finger to stop bleeding for anything.  The doctor finally glued and splinted him up at 2:30 in the morning.  Boy, did we have some tired girls by that time.  Here we are after driving him up to Sam & Aaron's camp the next morning.  The scouts were kind enough to treat us to lunch before we headed back.
And here is what Aaron was up to at scout camp.  Clearly he was misbehaving and  had to be publicly punished!
Sam says Aaron was quite a marksman.  We may have the new Robin Hood on our hands.
And here he is practicing his water survival techniques.  He is pictured above trying to inflate his clothes to use as a flotation device.  Who knew you could even do that?
Bethany at the Fourth of July Breakfast.  Isn't she festive?
Bethany went to her first swim meet this weekend and she did great.  The girl is a fish.  She won first place in both  Freestyle events and she got a 2nd  in breaststroke and a 4th in back stroke.  Now she wishes we'd gone to all of the meets before.
Miranda swinging at the 4th of July Breakfast.  Randa is such a ray of sunshine.  I wish I could bottle up her giggles and spray some out whenever I need a smile.
Miranda is also on swim team and though she hasn't participated in a meet, she says she wants to go this weekend and get first place in the breast stroke. :)  She isn't interested in the other strokes though.
Amber staking out the cereal table at the breakfast.  She takes her breakfast cuisine very seriously.
What a cutie.  Chad told her yesterday that she stinks and she said, "Chad, stop smelling me!"
