Shutting Down...

Well, as if 14 month absence from blogging didn't say it, I'll make it official...we're shutting the blog down. With all that has happened in the last year and since the girls are getting older and thus our schedules busier, I can't seem to keep up everywhere so something's gotta give, and the blog is that something. You can follow our family happenings on facebook. Since I can quickly do that from my phone that is usually what gets done!
Thanks so much for sharing in our lives through this blog! God bless you!

Another Update

It seems like all I'm doing these days is playing catch-up and it's no different with our family blog. Between family, church and work we seem to stay pretty busy. Here's a few of the latest tidbits from the Sketoe crew.
Probably the most important news is that, Lord willing, shortly before Christmas we'll be expanding our brood by one more! That's right, we're expecting our third blessing on or around December 8th. Gracie and Lexie are so excited. They touch and kiss and talk to my belly all the time. Oh, and they are convinced it's a boy which of course would please John, but we both know we'll be happy with whatever God has in store for us!!
We just returned from NLC Family Camp. We stayed at MarVal Family Resort in Gore, OK with 84 other New Life Church families and had an amazing time of, well, just time! For the majority of our stay we did not have cell reception and wifi was spotty so it was a great time of riding bikes and swimming and basically just being together with few distractions!
Gracie had her first dance recital at the end of May. Lexie will get to start dance in the fall so we'll have two little ballerinas in the house.
At the beginning of May I began working a reduced schedule at work so I can leave early each day to be able to pick the girls up. Now, instead of being home at 6:30 and beginning the mad dash to bedtime, I am arriving home with kids around 3:15. It has done wonders for our family for me to be home more. There is so much less stress and rushing around and we are all enjoying that. We praise God for Him allowing us this blessing!!!
Gracie also begins kindergarten this fall. We've looked at the schedule and she can tell you to the day when school starts and what school she is attending. She is so excited! We're very excited for her, b/c she is such a smart little girl. Now this doesn't mean I'm not gonna ball like a baby when she puts that backpack on and heads into school that first day, but I'm content knowing she is looking forward to it!
I think that's the highlights for now. Hopefully it won't be another 2 months before I post again, but no promises ;o)

Updates

Ok, so I know I've not been a very good blogger as of late. I seem to be keeping up a little more frequently on fb so if you're there, send me a friend request and we can catch up and you can see what's up with our fam.
We've had a very blessed, happy & exciting winter and spring.
We took a short family trip to Big Cedar Lodge in Branson, MO in December and had such a wonderful time. It was the coldest weekend of the year, I think, but it was absolutely beautiful. Gracie couldn't get enough of the horses and as expected, Lexie had a meltdown at the mention of the word horse!
Gracie celebrated her 5th birthday in March and Rebekah and Wesley Turner welcomed Noah Ryan that same day! (Rebekah is John's only cousin on his Mother's side). Gracie is also registered for Kindergarten so the tear fest (for me anyway) will commence mid-August this year!
Now we are gearing up for Gracie's dance recital, which will be May 21st. Her tap and ballet costume is a frog...too cute!
Also getting ready for swim lessons which will start in June. Gracie AND Lexie will get to attend this year. Gracie had a blast last year so I know it will be a fun time for both of them. It might also help ease Lexie of one of her fears. We'll see...
We're taking vacation early this year. Since it's our last year to go at off-peak times, we decided to hit the beach in Destin, FL in May this year. So instead of having to wait all summer, we're headed to the beach in a few weeks. Can't wait!!!
NLC Family Camp is in June and we're planning to attend this year for the first time. This rookie family is going to need some guidance from some of the seasoned pros, but can't wait to go!!
I think that's the highlights for now. This update is due to a gentle reminder from my sister. Thanks Alex!
I'll try to do better, but no promises. Posting to fb from my phone is just too easy, but I'll try!
Hope you're all having a blessed spring!

Sorry...

This is just a quick post to let you all know that the Sketoe's are alive and kicking...and extremely busy. Since my last post my firm has merged with another similar firm and I am now the Director of Marketing for the new group. Needless to say that my workload has increase, and that's just my job away from home. We're still busy with family and church stuff too. I'm so sad that I haven't been able to keep up with the blog like I used to, but one of these days I'll get some new pictures and updates posted. Until then, we hope you're all well!

Eight Excellent Years!

Today John and I celebrate 8 years of wedded bliss!
Ok...so we all know that every day is not ideal in any marriage, but in my opinion that's what makes the relationship genuine! Marriage is wonderful, but is also takes work and committment from both spouses. I'm so happy I get to 'work' with my husband!!!
I know that God picked the perfect mate for me and am so thankful for my wonderful hubby!

No Justice

Last night, Lexie and Gracie were playing with play make-up that Lexie got for her birthday. Since this particular activity had to be supervised, they were playing beauty shop at the kitchen table while I worked on laundry. After a while we got to talking about what they did at school that day and Gracie said they said the pledge. I wasn't sure if she knew the Pledge of Allegiance or not.

Well...she showed me.

She knows all the way to 'one nation under God' then needs a little prompting, except she never says 'and justice'...she just finishes with 'for all'.

Everytime I watch this is makes me laugh, because she looks like she's wearing war paint!

Lexie's 3yr Stats

Lexie got her 3 year check-up on Tuesday and thankfully didn't have to get any shots!!
She weighed 34 lbs and was 36" tall.
Of course Gracie couldn't grasp that we were not at the doctor for her, so Dr. Lucas and Ms. Josie, the nurse, played along and checked her out as well.
Gracie weighed 40lbs and was 40" tall.

I'm not usually very good a blog challenges, but since Paige put the idea out there, I thought I'd post what we were up to one year ago, not to the day, but pretty close.
From July 28, 2008...
New Jersey Bound

We are going to New Jersey on a mini-vacation this week. John, the girls and I are going and my Dad, Mom and Ethan are coming as well. Most of our family lives in Paramus and Ridgewood, which are neighboring towns. Paramus is about 30 minutes from Manhattan. We'll be taking John on a tour of NYC on Thursday, so we should have some neat pics to share when we get back! In typical Beth fashion I'm very excited to see my family, but also very excited about the pizza and bagels we'll get to eat!!! :o)
