USS Hornet

Jeff has been wanting to visit the USS Hornet for a few months now, so we took a trip to Oakland to see it.  It is a Naval aircraft carrier involved in numerous historical events during WWII and after.  If you want to know about it's history, Wikipedia has a summary  here.  I highly recommend it! It took us two tries to make it there, but when we finally made it onto the ship, we had a fun time exploring. I was sort of freaked out after seeing a Ghost Adventures episode about it, thinking how it could be haunted ( I know, silly me!)

Here is our plethora of photos from the experience:

The USS HORNET

We ended up not taking a stroller. VERY wise choice!

Claire had so much fun with her daddy!
(in front of a Medi-copter)

Typical meal of the sailors. YUM!

Machine gun inside one of the fighter planes. So Cool!

Claire decided to go night-night in the berthing bunks.
It was too funny watching her climb in and lay down.
 My favorite part: The hospital:

Surgical room

eye exam room

X-ray room

Claire kept asking us to put her baby inside the planes.
Dad finally did. Look closely!

interesting quote...
Beautiful view of our city in the background.

perspective on how big the planes AND SHIP! are.

Reno visit.

We made a trip to Reno to see family and friends and so that Jeff can jump-start his dental career with the dentist he's working with after school. We can't  believe there are less than 3 months until he's a DENTIST!
It started out as a nice trip, but ended with an 8 (yes EIGHT!) hour drive to get home. We went from no snow on Wednesday to feet of snow in the Sierras by the time we left! Still, we had a great time!

Here were some great picture moments of Claire:
Claire not so sure of the snow. Guess she will have to get used to it!

Claire was being goofy for all the poses and this was the best pic!

Our 3 hour wait in Truckee. We were not the only ones apparently.
This was the front of the line.

The reason why we waited 3 hours in Truckee. It was pretty crazy over the pass.

Claire's new favorite book

We read this AT LEAST twice a day!
Claire points out the baby on every page, any bottles, kitty-kats (geegas in her words),
and mommy and daddy in the pictures.
It melts my heart when she gets excited over this book.

I can't wait until you can be a big sister Claire!!!

Brunch and gifts with the wives...

It's always fun when we get together,  just us girls. This time, the girls spoiled our new baby girl with yummy food and wonderful gifts. As Annie has pointed out, a baby shower is not a new idea to several of us wives, especially here in the city. Every one of us has had at least one baby here in the Bay area! That makes at least ten (I count 15 total, including those that are incubating now!) I am going to miss this group for the fun times, yummy recipes, helpful parenting advice, and the camaraderie we share!

L to R: Melissa, Laura, Annie, Emily, Joanna, Me, Linden, Tiffany, Kari-Lynn, Juli

Baby Cadence's or Coralie's or Cicily's gifts.
Half are hand-made; such talented girls!

Thanks for a fantastic shower girls!

7 more weeks!

really? 7 MORE WEEKS!!!
secretly I hope that it is less than that, but whatever is healthiest for baby and me.

I sure am getting ready... hello nesting!

I have already steam-cleaned all my carpets,  taken out and sorted all baby clothes, cleaned out the closet and some drawers to prepare for more clothes, washed the carseat cover, put together the co-sleeper, gotten Brady's talons trimmed and her shagginess groomed. Whew, and I still have more to do!

This pregnancy is definitely different from the last one! Here is why:
  • This baby is NOT breech! Woo-hoo! I feel her poke me differently than when Claire was in the womb.
  • Sciatic pain galore! I guess because her head is down now, there is more pressure down there.
  • A ton of Braxton-Hicks Contractions. Weird, since I felt none with Claire.
  • HER feet like MY ribs. Ouch, is all I have to say!
  • I love watching my belly move and pop out all over the place from her kicks or rump-bumps.  Claire's feet just kicked my bladder all the time, which leads me to....
  • ... Less potty breaks now. Yahoo!
  • I feel more anxious with this one. Maybe it's because we will soon have two to take care of and not just one child. Maybe it's the feeling that I will not be able to please everyone all the time, like I try constantly to do. Who knows?

I am just getting so antsy waiting for this new little girl to come. Only 7 more weeks!
