Pets

We are the proud new owners of these guys. Meet Anakin and Darth Vader. I'm sure you can guess which is which. They belong to Noah and Issac. I warned them that goldfish don't live very long so every morning they come downstairs and say, let's see if they are still alive. They've been taking good care of them.

The boys had a fair at their school and we ended up with these fish, brownies, cinnamon rolls, cookies, 2 liter bottle of pop, sugar, more sugar, even more sugar, a couple of toys, and crafts. Isaac won everything and on the first try too. I love free events! The boys bounced, jumped, slid, climbed, played, won, ate, got a sunburn, did some math problems. It was great! We were tired.
I think it is a little funny...(really...annoying) that the school tells us our kids can only bring in healthy snacks and lunches and then this is what they give out as prizes. Did it really need to be a whole cake or a whole 2 liter bottle of pop for the walks? Those are just great for the little diabetic who kept winning! Luckily he has a mom who helps him out with eating all of that!

Funnies

I love hearing Dylanisms and other such funny kid sayings so I'm sharing some from Isaac from this last week.

Isaac to Daddy
"If we didn't have arms, hands, feet, or a face, and were orange; we'd be carrots."
Then while Daddy was telling me this story, Isaac added:
"Yeah, AND bones, and muscles and a brain."

Isaac was reciting the 2nd article of faith which should end in...and not for Adam's transgression. Isaac ended it proudly with..."and not for Adam's transportation."

Isaac: "Mom, come try this!"
Me: "What?"
Isaac: "This rope swing. But, it's too scary for humans, it's only for kids!"

They are always way funnier in their own cute voices with the serious wheels turning in their little heads. It doesn't do it justice to write it down.

Medical Updates

Isaac's eye has been getting worse so we are now patching every day for 2 hours and he got a stronger perscription...so new glasses.

The glasses above are his old pair...the ones below are the new pair.

We also finally submitted to our insurance for a pump for Isaac. We've been putting it off because it's going to be some work to re-learn everything and we are already overwhelmed. Also, Isaac didn't really care for the pump when we tried the dummy so I'm a little nervous about how he will handle it. After him protesting getting new glasses last week though...I'm convinced he just doesn't like change and will get over it just fine. We should have that done in the next month or so.

We FINALLY got Matthew up to a full dose of his growth hormone last week and now he has puffy eyes and a wet cough again. We have to stop it and go back to a smaller dose...again! So frustrating! This new medicaton is different than his last one just a little bit. This company wants you to keep it in the fridge all the time where the other one you just kept it in the fridge until you were ready to use the pen and then you could leave it at room temperature for days and days (like insulin). So, it's cold and it hurts going in. I'm tempted to give up on this. Is it really worth it? We've been at this 9 months and nothing but trouble so far. Grrr!

Matthew also (Not surprisingly!) ended having a positive antibody for Diabetes. It was very weak and only 1 of 3 they look at I guess so they will retest. This only means that his chances of getting Diabetes is slightly higher than a normal person. It does not mean that he has diabetes or will ever get diabetes. Just another thing to watch for. This makes 3 diseases to WATCH for on him. The doctor just said... "Well, he's definately brewing up something!" Thanks Doc and to all the beautiful auto-immune genes we ended up with!

Joshua and Noah are perfectly healthy as usual.
