Puerto Vallarta

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had an amazing opportunity to take a trip this last week.  Many thanks to wonderful friends who watched our kids so we could go.

We went kayaking, paddle boarding, and snorkeling at a private beach, Las Caletas.

Another day we went whale watching.  This is the fin tip of a large stingray.  And that is about all we saw for 2 hours.  We saw a large turtle floating around.  We saw a few whale humps and tails.
We saw lots of birds near the Las Marietas Islands.
Finally on our boat ride back to the Marina, we found some whales.
This is the only picture we captured of one out of the water, although we did see several others jumping and slapping the water with their fins and tails.  Pretty amazing!

We spent a couple different times on the Malecon (boardwalk) of Puerto Vallarta.  Lots of fun architecural elements, art shops, and art structures.

We spent quite a bit of time watching this guy create rock stacks.  Awesome!

There were many different sand sculptures down the beach.  Pretty amazing!

We had a great trip!

Winter's here!!

Started snowing lightly last night and hasn't stopped.

New Years Eve

We typically celebrate the new year by going to bed at 10:00 PM.  This year we wanted to celebrate a little more traditionally, so we had friends over and instead did the "countdown" a little early (9:15 PM according to the clock in the pics :)  ).  It was a  lot of fun, and the kids threw confetti for about 15 minutes.  It was fun to make a little "snowstorm" inside, since we didn't have any of the real stuff outside.

Happy New Year!

Just us

It isn't often that a big event or holiday passes and we spend it just us.  But that is how Christmas went this year.  It felt a little weird, but was also nice in some ways.  And even though it was just us, I still made a nice dinner, so that helped it feel special and cozy...and yummy :).

Although we had a small cast, tradition mandated that we act out the nativity story anyway.  It was cute!
