Wesley's Weekend Getaway

We told Wesley several months ago to be thinking of somewhere in the state of Georgia that he would like to go and maybe some activities that he would be interested in. He was very quick to say that he wanted to go to the mountains and go hiking. So, on Labor Day weekend, we headed up to Amicolala Falls for our hike-up to LenFoote Lodge. It's a 5 mile hike-up and you bring in what you need and take out everything with you - trash included. Neat place, good food, beautiful view, interesting conservation efforts at work, very tight quarters, and wonderfully peaceful and quiet! We had a great time with Wesley and got quite a workout along the way. The start of the trail.

Chuck and Wesley - on their way.

This whole weekend was about this kid. What a treasure!

Wesley is a hunter/gatherer by nature. He loves to explore, investigate, and collect all manner of things. I love his curiosity!

Having a snack break. Wesley took this picture from up in a tree. Like I said, ever the explorer and adventurer.

Checking the map to be sure we are on course.

Back on the trail.

Getting a little steeper.

We could see a nice clear shot of downtown and Stone Mountain. Wesley is pointing it out, but it's not as clear in the picture.

The next morning. Ready to hike out. Notice, we now all have our walking sticks, courtesy of Wesley, our guide.

We stopped along the way to gather some ridiculously huge acorns to bring home with us.

We made it! Love you, Wes!
