Van Trouble

Our van is on the blink. Dave is under it right now and all last night. Jillian cried because she wanted to go to church. It's not the alternator! Dave is worried that it is the Computer-- if so, we probably need to get a new car. I browsed 'pre-owned' vehicles with a 3rd row all last night. Dave thinks we should just get a sedan but I really love having a mini-van with all the room. I need a "mom" vehicle.
Well--- Pray for us in this matter! I so was hoping we could make it til January with our old van! Maybe it's the battery cables- Dave is going to check that today.
Anyways-- Josh played a great game-- he is really a tough tight end! But...The Panthers TIED the Hawks 0-0!!!
AND... I hope to blog about Jordan soon-- She had her very 1st Volleyball game Friday night! Let's just say... We have a Volleyball Player in the Family!!!!!!!! :)

Be back later to update on the Van status!

Special Visitors on Gameday!

Today at Josh's game we were honored with the presence of a royal football mom and grandma!! We were so excited to sit along side Penny and Mimi under the shade of a big ole Garland tree and cheer and watch our little Josh play some football! It was fun to learn that Mimi grew up here in Gtown just a block away (Avenue G) --the football field is on Avenue F! LOL
Before the game Mimi got to stand in front of her old house and take a picture! She was so cute to reminisce about her time here in Garland and she lamented the fact she never got to be a "Dashing Deb" at Garland High School! (she was too short)! :)
On a sad note...our firecracker cheerleader Jillian was feeling under the weather, she had a flu shot yesterday- I'm wondering if that's what caused her feel so bad. Here she is crashed out on the blanket with Jordan sitting nearby!
Here is the team at half time! They were tied 6 - 6 against The Sharks! The coach was on a tirade and Penny was having memory flashbacks of days gone past!
They had their team pictures taken earlier in the day-- it was a long day at the fields for the boys!
Here is Penny trying to get close up pics of the team and the 'drill team' performing at half-time- we didn't know there was a drill team until today! They were cute!
Mimi cracked me up-- she was commenting about how most of the drill team girls were bigger than the football players! LOL It was true - I think the biggest drill team member's parents were sitting 20 feet in front of us! It was just so fun!

Here is Mimi and Dave and sleeping Jilly during halftime!
Here we are...Mimi, Penny, Me, and second wind Jillian (notice Jillian's new birthday cheerleader ensemble!!)
We lost to the Sharks 12 to 6! but we'll HARPOON 'em next time!! (those are the words of this awesome experienced Football Mom!
ummm- I am so touched, Penny passed the POM POM!! I inherited the RED POM POM! thank you so much!!! :)
oh and thanks for all the other gifts too! LOL-- Dave wants to wear this one for Halloween this year!
The Cheerleader Witch!
LOL- Me as Pooh Bear-- actually, Dave may wear this one- he can't decide!
Big Pumpkin Jordan! I have fond memories in the pumpkin costumes!!

It was a great time! I felt so loved to have Penny and Mimi drive across the metroplex to support my family! I LOVE Y'ALL! I feel like you are my family! xoxox

Happy Birthday Baby!

Jillian just walked in my room-- I gave her a big grin and said in a happy voice, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY!!"
Then she replied, "Is it really my birthday? Am I 5??"

"YES baby! you are 5!"

Then she looks over her body, Up and Down, Up and Down! and says..."Are you sure? I don't feel any bigger!"

LOL she makes me laugh!

I can hardly believe it's already been 5 years! Today we celebrate the birth of our little sweetheart Jillian! She is such a little character! She makes us smile everyday. She can be a firecracker! It is a joy to be her mother. In so many ways, our family wouldn't be what it is today without her! I am grateful that she joined our family at just the right time-- a short 5 years ago!

Here are some fun pictures to celebrate our sweet Jillian!
This is one of my favorite pics taken by Aunt Aner at Christmas time in 2005!
This is the opening page of Jillian's scrapbook! Everytime she browses her scrapbook (which is 2 to 3 times per week), she comments that she sure wishes she still had that blanket that is on her head in this picture. :)

another page in her scrapbook...she was our tiniest baby weighing just under 7lbs. She was our little miracle!
Finally, here are current pictures of Jillian- we were playing on the playground yesterday as we waited for Josh during his football practice! I just think she is adorable!

Hurricane Panthers! Win 19-0!!!!

Our game was moved up from 12:30 to 9:30AM this mornin'! We woke up to watch the weather channel about all the Hurricane Ike devastation and wondered if our game was actually going to take place! Here in Dallas the wind was blowing and there was intermittent rain but we headed out to the Football fields despite the weather!
KICK OFF!
Josh is now on 'Starting Offense'!
Here he is riding the pine during defense time! :) #86!
Jillian was all smiles! She loves umbrella weather!
And she LOVES being a CHEERLEADER! She told Josh that she hopes he doesn't mind but that she is his official sister cheerleader! Josh just rolled his eyes and said, "whatever"
Here is Josh with his buddy/team-mate TJ! One great thing about playing football this year is that Josh has some 'instant new friends' at his new elementary school! Everyday when I pick Josh up from school, TJ comes to the van window and says...BYE JOSH! See ya at Practice!
I think their smirks are so cute! They were so pumped and happy about winning!
AND...Daddy couldn't be prouder!! He was amazed at the progress and toughness of Josh during this game! On the opposing team-- the other #86 was about a foot and a half taller than Josh--and JOSH SHUT HIM DOWN!! He was a blocking machine!
Dave calls him... "THE GREAT WALL OF GARLAND!"
Stud Josh! or Hurricane Josh! :)

Here is some cheerleader footage from Jillian...some cheers are made up straight from her little creative almost 5 year old mind!! so funny!

WHOOOHOOO! It was so exciting---the cheerleaders were CHEERING!---the teams BUSTED through the big paper banners! Parents are SCREAMING!!!
Here is some fun video...

I was snapping pictures with my digital camera that I thought was THE BEST camera ever in the whole wide world until I discovered when you are a..........you need a MEGA ZOOMER QUICK SHUTTER Camera and my favorite point and shoot may not be optimum anymore!

Can you see the STUD LINEMAN #86 with his back to the camera above?! He had an awesome tackle in the 2nd Quarter!
Here is little sis Jilly-- WHO IS AN AWESOME CHEERLEADER- she was dancing and copying the moves of the cheerleaders! I am going to make her a "SPIRIT OUTFIT" to wear at the games! so be looking for fun pics of that soon! :)
Here is the PRE-GAME HUDDLE and Lots of CHANTING-CHEERING-PEP-TALKING!
The Panthers are AWESOME-- We have some big ole 4th graders! A couple of them are over 135 pounds already! We were just about to score here--As you can see I need a camera upgrade! (please tell Dave I really need a camera upgrade! LOL)
SO-- We play the "Lumberjacks" on Saturday at 12:30PM-- We are gonna AX those Lumberjacks! LOL--so...if you have 'football mom' experience, feel free to shower me with advice! 1st -- where can I buy a Pom Pom?

Number 86!!

Go Josh! He was so thrilled to finally get his jersey-- His first PeeWee Game is Saturday night!!! GO PANTHERS! GO #86!!

I think he has the coolest # - it just struck me... the term "to 86 something" This could be such a cool Football theme. Josh's position is that of Defensive Lineman! He is my big 76 pound boy!
THE NUMBER "86"...
In science

86 is the atomic number of radon. There are 86 metals on the modern periodic table.

In American English, the number 86 used as a verb, to "eighty-six," means to "ignore" or "get rid of". The first recorded usage of this term occurs in the mid-1930s. There are many theories of the origin of this usage, most pertain either to death or to prohibition.

One of the explanations pertaining to death is the distance of eighty miles out and six feet under meaning when a person who is to be killed by the mafia is forced to dig his own grave many miles away from civilization; or the possibility of a simple variation of the slang term deep six, which has identical meaning, and is simply meant to describe the approximate depth of water (6 fathoms, 11 meters) needed for a burial at sea. The term came into popular use among soldiers and veterans to describe missing soldiers as 86'd. Rather than describe buddies missing in action, it was slang to describe the MIA as being AWOL, therefore violating UCMJ Sub Chapter X Article 86. The public outdoor observatory of the Empire State Building was on the 86th floor; the site of more than 30 suicides. Another origin related to the Empire State Building is the fact that all the elevators stop at the 86th floor. Hence, everyone had to leave. The building opened in 1931, apparently a few years before the term became popular.

Of the explanations pertaining to prohibition, one is a reference to Article 86 of the New York state liquor code which defines the circumstances in which a bar patron should be refused service or "86ed". Others have suggested that this usage originated from the famous Delmonico's Restaurant in New York City, as item number 86 on their menu, their house steak, often ran out during the 19th century. However, there is no recorded usage of this term in the nineteenth century. Yet another explanation is that Chumley's, which was a famous 1900s New York speakeasy, is located at 86 Bedford Street. During Prohibition, an entrance through an interior adjoining courtyard was used, as it provided privacy and discretion for customers. As was a New York tradition, the cops were on the payroll of the bar and would give a ring to the bar that they were coming for a raid. The bartender would then give the command "86 everybody!", which meant that everyone should hightail it out the 86 Bedford entrance because the cops were coming in through the courtyard door.

ANYWAYS... Go Panthers #86!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jillian's 1st Day!

It's always so FUN! Jillian was skipping and clenching her fists with excitement this morning and saying, "I can't believe it's the first day of my school today! I can't wait!" Because Jordan and Josh started last week--she has been begging to go to 'big school'and didn't want to go to 'baby school' aka pre-school anymore! I was relieved that this morning she was actually smiling and being so happy! She looked so cute with her new clothes and new adorable hair-cut!
Here is Jillian with her teacher, Mrs. Rawley!
The Theme this year is "Down on the Farm"!
I had so much fun with Jillian the day we shopped for her NEW Backpack and lunchbox! She was so funny as she searched for just the right one. When she saw this one-- it was PERFECT! :)
Isn't her Hello Kitty one so fun?-- She is a girly girl!
Here is Jilly with her other teacher Mrs. Teresa in her classroom!

I am so grateful that all my children were able to go to this special school. The memories and experiences that they gain from this Day School help them form such great self confidence and self worth. Not to mention-- it's just FUN! ahhh- to be young again and get to go to pre-school where you can paint, be read to, run and swing and slide, draw, and sing songs of praise!
