Me and the Rexburg Police Department....

Are at odds. On Monday I got a parking ticket for parking on a "yellow curb marked clearly through." Well, I just didn't agree with that at all so today during my free time I contested it down at the police station. This is a picture of the curb where I parked.

When I went to the station the woman behind the desk pulled up my ticket and said "you're going to have to pay the ticket, this is clearly a yellow curb." Right. So I asked to see the picture the officer had taken and she brought me back behind her office to take a look. The picture was no better than mine. I told her this curb is not maintained at all and I shouldn't have to pay this ticket. Then she goes on to tell me that the curb will be painted soon. Really? Because in the past four years that I have lived here that curb has ALWAYS looked that way, and people park there all the time. Painted soon my foot. I wish I could tell you that I wan't paying the ticket, but I have to and I'm not happy about it. However, I did write a letter to the city saying that if they want people to pay their tickets they need to maintain their curbs, and that it is completely ridiculous that I recieved a ticket for parking where I did.

Lets not get too hasty....

While I completely agree that the death of Osama bin Laden is an incaluable victory for the United States and the world I cannot agree with some of the reactions I have heard in reference to his death. Last night Hugh and I were looking on facebook at all the comments about bin Laden and I came across one that my friend had written tha said something along the lines of, "Please send our troops home!! Thank you for your service." Yes, it is a nice sentiment, but how ignorant! To think that the whole purpose of sending our men, woman, fathers, and mothers over to the Middle East just to find and kill Osama bin Laden. Well now that we've done that everything is going to be fine...right? How long do you think it will be until many more people attempt to rise up and fill his shoes, in the meantime taking innocent lives? All I'm saying is, let's not get too hasty. Let's not forget that what our servicemen and woman are doing in the Middle East is much more far reaching than catching bin Laden. They still need all our support and prayers to continue the freedom giving service they are rendering to all of us. God bless the USA.
