Here's a play-by-play of our Saturday night.
- Go to grand opening of local park/lake.
- Decide it's lame, except for the kite-flying.
- Go home and get our kite.
- Fly our kite at our neighborhood park.

- Decide there's not enough wind at our neighborhood park.
- Return to the park with the "grand" opening.
- Fly kite briefly until deciding the wind is pretty dead there, too.

- Sit on "beach" and consider watching a movie on big inflatable screen.
- Almost give up on movie after the sun goes down and it gets colder.
- Rummage through car for anything capable of keeping us warm during movie.
- Almost give up on movie after waiting through technical delays.
- Pretty convinced that the girls will not last through more than 10 minutes of movie.
- Seriously almost give up on movie after learning that there will be a THIRTY MINUTE Boy Scout movie shown BEFORE the actual movie begins.
- Watch 30-minute Boy Scout.
- Are inspired and thoroughly impressed by local Boy Scouts and their very nice film.
- Are thoroughly impressed by girls who STILL want to stay and watch Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.
- Watch movie.
- Shiver.
- Cover PJ's bare legs with random assortment of small clothing items found in car.

- Find the movie thoroughly enjoyable.
- Consider leaving and getting movie from Netflix and watching it at home with cocoa and down blankets.
- Suggest this option to girls. Are swiftly rejected.
- Notice that only the adults appear to be shivering, or aware of shivering.
- Leave park at 9:30 pm in amazement that the girls did not give up on the movie.
- Pat ourselves on the back for being such good parents.
- Remembered the first time we flew the Red Baron with Ava, three years ago in Boston. She was Derek's little helper then, too.
Now.
Then.
Now.
