Good Start

We've started this week off bug free. The girls are feeling much better and when we woke up this morning the thermostat read 73! The house hasn't dipped down under the AC auto (we keep it at 77 when we sleep) in almost 3 months. That was good enough for me to quickly open all the windows and go for an early morning walk with the girls. One way of Suzanna getting some running in on our walks is to point out the bunnies. That's her job, to chase them as long as she can. It's very fun to watch.

On our walk this morning we had a great find! On the crib side someone had left a pile of treasures for the garbage man to pick up. I was shocked to see they hadn't made the effort to donate them for someone else, but it didn't take me long to see the best of all. It was a bike just Suzanna's size with training wheels. That's what got Suz half way home. I'll post some pictures with her on it. She's good with steering but it's getting the feet to stay on the pedals is what she finds the hardest. Finding momentum is also difficult for her, but we're working on it! Nana said I learned to ride a bike at 4, so I'm hoping with practice this summer and fall buy next spring/summer we'll take the training wheels off.
I couldn't resist taking a picture of the sky. It's almost like something you'd see painted on a canvas. I'm in such awe of the Midwest sky. One if its best features. One of my goals this month (July) is to vocalize and think of only positive things of St. Louis. We'll see how that goes.

Big One-Year-Old

She's 1! She voices her opinion a little more than before, she's walking more (not 100%) and seems to know what she wants a little more too. One thing that changes more and more each day is her love for her big sister. When Suzanna's hollering in the corner of Time Out, Ella gets worried. This has been the latest thing she's been doing to cheer up Suz.....standing on her head. It seems to work too!
What a good little buddy. Ciao Bella!

After the Rain

It felt good this morning, we are almost nearly healthy again. Suzanna had energy to actually run around and is getting back to her old self. This entire day was nice outside.
Splashing barefoot. I've never been big on letting them walk outside without any shes on (for obvious reasons) but Suz wanted to splash with her feet on the deck and I thought why not! Casey put countless hours into the deck resanding and finishing it, we might as well get our use out of it while we can .
Ella enjoyed it all till this point, oops. Slippery!

Stomach Flu

Suzanna had her first taste of the stomach flu today. I think that's pretty good being three years old and all. Let's just say she's had 3 baths, I've done many loads of laundry and she's very lethargic. Ella on the other hand has a lot of energy but is runny on the other end. I just pray what we caught is just a 12 hour flu bug and doesn't go thru the night. All day she's said "I sick, I need to see the doctor." Poor thing!

Diaper Box

After coming home from the store today, the first things the girls wanted to do was play in the diaper box. First it was Ella's turn and Suzanna pushed her around the kitchen/family room area. Next it was the two of them.
Fun!
We've been trying to get back into the swing of things. I vacuumed out the car and oiled the inside right before the thunder storm hit. Great timing! Even though I do it in the garage, it's still nice to shut the door before a storm hits. The power flickered once (while I was talking to Casey) but it flicked back on. Garage swept (check), car vacuumed out (check).

One of Those NIghts

Tonight we had our normal bedtime routine. I snuggled Ella, put her down in the crib and read to Suzanna a few more books, prayers and shut the door. When I came back into the family room I looked at the clock again and noticed I read it wrong. It said 5:55 (not 6:55). I didn't know if I should let them out and enjoy the extra 40 min. the evening had or to let them sleep and know the morning would start early.

Happy Birthday Ella!

Ella turned 1 today! Where has this year gone?
Since it was just us three girls, we decided to make it a simple pudding party!
I asked Suz how old Ella was today and she said "Ella's one, Suz 2, Mama 3 and Kiki 4". I had to laugh! Makes me feel good, I'm only 3! This was one happy big sister! She sang Happy Birthday to Ella the entire day handing her the fake birthday cake in their kitchen set. The last few months Suzanna couldn't understand why Ella's birthday came first and not hers, she was older. So, to uncomplicate that, I told her Mimi was coming for her birthday.....then Nana! She seemed fine with that.
Testing the pudding....one finger at a time.
Top things I love about Ella:

Pacifies quickly
Was patient enough with me to nurse the first year
Tranquil personality
Perfect fit for a second baby
She's snugly
She's a Mama's girl
She adores Suzanna

Clan Murray 2008

Ella at the Pacific Beach

She loved it! The freedom, sand, crisp clean air.....this was one happy baby!

Trip to Washington

We flew into Seattle on Monday and stayed the night at Peter and Joni's place. We had such a fun time with them! Tuesday Annie, Carol, Kristy and myself headed off to downtown Seattle and went to Pikes Market. (Alisha and Nana watched the girls....it was a nice break!) Pike's is a fresh farmers market, one of the best I've been to. We enjoyed the smells, sounds and fresh fruit.
Anyone who has been to Pike's Market knows of this huge fish. It's jaw bone is about the size of an adult human! You'll have to ask Kristy about it! :) I know a big reason I was able to relax and enjoy myself completely was not only being with family but having Kristy along on the trip helping the girls and myself. Aunt Kristy was not only good company but was an extra set of hands for me. I just hope we didn't wear her out too much! I am so thankful she could take some off before her baby arrives in December. Thanks again Aunt Kiki!! We miss you already!
Pike's Market.

Lizzy and Ella were really cute in the grass outside the house we stayed at the beach. It was so nice, the weather was in the 60's and it was so comfortable to enjoy the quiet and peacefulness of it all. Walking up and down those hills, Suz had a lift!

More at the Pacific

Suz found a lot of snuggles with her cousin Daniel. It was cute how she was very curious as to where Daniel was and was especially happy when he spent time with her.
At the cabin we were relaxing and watching Horatio Hornblower (one of A&E's best) and Peter made popcorn. There was no putting Suz to bed once she saw the "pop-pop". She climbed into Papa's lap and went to town. Dad said she's a pretty fierce competitor at the rate she eats popcorn. Yes, we all know that's her favorite!Peter, Joni, Papa and Suz.

At Home

My camera was one of many that were snapping shots of the Family Reunion. So, these are just mine but once we compile the rest from everyone else, I'll post more!
Maddy was teaching Suzanna a song on the piano. Wow, her first lesson before age 3!
Looks like fun girls!!
Ella absolutely loves to try on Suzanna's shoes. These Hello Kitty ones are one of her favorites. (Don't let Suz see....)Bath time with the three little girls. Ella was done in 5 minuets but these two took over an hour!

The plane ride there was event less. Coming back was a little more strenuous. Suz played by herself the whole time and Ella was fighting a nap. Finally she gave up and took a quick 30 min. nap. I'll take it! The laundry is going, the girls are down and I'm ready for bed!

Buddy Allison

We had such a short visit to Washington, we really didn't have time to do everything we planned. It's especially hard because Alisha's family no longer live in our old neighborhood. So before the wedding reception (of Sarah) we dropped by to visit with good friends. They were extremely helpful with things (thanks) and also the girls got to play. Lauren is 4 weeks old. It's hard to remember they start out that tiny!
As the girls were circling in the Jeep, Ella was a riot! She'd give us her little expressive eyes and kind of pose in the grass.

Her Beach Walker

She didn't need her little shopping cart to get around at the Pacific Beach...she had Aunt Annie! And Nana....
.....and Suz had Nana too! By the way, a quick walk to the beach....does entail a stroller. I won't second guess that again. Thanks to trading off Ella between us girls....we made it up and down the hills.

Alisha's for Dinner

I'm not sure how this started. Oh, I remember now, it was dinner time and we were all eating outside. Suz wanted to play and I told her it was time to eat. This plus jet lag equaled the following incident.

Nana came over to get Suzanna's mind off what ever she was wailing over. I guess that's one of Grandparent's specialties. Empathy and compassion.
Everyone loved going to Alisha's little park! Ella especially.

Big Sisters

It's official! When you might ask? The 8th of December!!

Nana and Suzanna

Beautiful Pacific

Rides with Aunt Annie.
Ella....sandy on her hands and feet.

Walks on the Beach

Message on the Sand

Your three biggest fans, Casey!

The Pacific Beach

I have four adjectives that describe my experience on the Pacific Beach. Tranquil, peaceful, clean and unbothered.
The girls loved putting their feet in the warm sand.
One of the many who aided Ella in her explorations. This baby is a beach baby....fearless of getting dirty.

Dinner in Maple Valley

Papa was helping Suzanna with her shoes. This was the head tilt some family members got for the first few days. "I shy" she would tell me.
Cousin Maddy helping Suzanna out....what a big help!
The kids jumping on the trampoline.
Alisha cooked this awesome chili with corn bread....yummy!
