we got our family pictures back and I seriously can't believe how old the girls look! when did this happen?

can you believe that THIS is the only picture we have as a family of five and it was taken in SEPTEMBER?? yipes!

for posterity's sake, this was taken on Ellie's 2nd birthday. Which would make Caroline four weeks old and Savannah 3 1/2. Where oh where does the time go!

courtney pointed out to me that i have posted hardly any pictures of caroline. well, here she is in all of her two month, 11 pound sweetness. i think she is perhaps, the most adorable thing ever. seriously. i can't stop squeezing her and holding her and carrying her with me everywhere just for the sake of feeling her breath against my neck and the warmness of her body against mine. in fact, i think it's quite impossible to describe how much you can love your baby!

A few days before Halloween we went to the doctor and she asked Savannah what she was going to be for Halloween. Savannah said, "I'm going to be Cinderella. My mom is going to be Belle, my dad is going to be Beast and my two little sisters are going to be fairies." oh my! In her defense, she was Cinderella and Ellie was a fairy. But Branden was not beast, Caroline didn't dress up, and I scrounged together a Belle costume.

On Wednesday, she had a parade at school. Each class did a dance performance and SAvannah was so busy smiling and waving at me and the camera that she missed all her q's. but that's okay, it made it all the more memorable.

then on thursday, my sisters and I hosted a halloween playgroup in Dani's backyard. I think the pony rides were the hit. (for my kids at least!) it was fun to see everyone, especially Arien visiting in town from kentucky! and we had so much fun watching all the kids run around in their costumes.

Halloween night was cold and rainy. But that didn't stop us. We went to a whole sixteen houses and returned home with full bags of candy. Savannah chanted at every doorstep the song she learned in spanish school, "trick or treat, halloween, quiero dulces para me!" lovely.






it must be true what they say- halloween gets better with kids, every-single-year!

the weather has been so incredibly beautiful this fall! normally we have snow and cold weather but today it was 70 degrees and sunny. we have been enjoying spending time in the mountains and playing outside every day. a few weeks ago we went up to one of the girls favorite places, silver lake at brighton ski resort. the leaves were gold and orange and the air was perfectly crisp. nana and uncle pete in town from minnesota came with us too!

sometimes i can't believe savannah is almost four. where oh where does the time go?! a few weeks ago, she had school pictures taken at her english preschool and so i took a few snapshots on the front porch before she left the house. she attends an english fine arts preschool, mwf and a spanish preschool t/th. she does well in each and i think the change of pace is good for her. but every day we drop her off, ellie has a meltdown, they are so sweet now that they are fast becoming best friends!

i did it. i cut the kentucky mullet. and now she has a sweet little bob. just perfect for our little ellie!
