Little League

Last Saturday was Tommy's opening game!  Unfortunately, due to prior commitments I couldn't make it, but I heard good reports.  He got a hit--yea!  But due to some confusion about who was and wasn't supposed to run, two people ended up at first base and Tommy was called "out."  I guess that happens when 5-7 year olds are playing.

He got his turn to sit on the bench during the last inning, which ended up being a good thing.  I guess he had gotten so worn out that he laid down in the dugout and fell asleep.  That was the start of a long week for all of us.

Tommy was not only worn out, he was coming down with something.  Poor guy was pretty sick.  For 6 entire days he lay flat on the couch with a fever and other symptoms that for your benefit I won't list.  While Tommy was feeling pretty much miserable all week, Hannah and I were needing something else to keep us occupied.

Now, those of you up north might just want to end here. . . look at that sunny day and green grass.  To keep myself sane, and to get Hannah away from the glow of the TV, I got the pool out and we played in the water.  It was a very nice break from tending a sick, sick little boy.  I sat in the sun and read my book while Hannah entertained herself with water.

We're glad that Tommy is now on the road to recovery.  Now Spring Break starts on Monday.  How am I going to keep the kids occupied for another week . . . ?
