"Semite"

Yah for YOSEMITE!  We made it to Yosemite this year, or "semite" as Maggie and Grant pronounce it.  And I have to admit... making it to Yosemite is no small feat.  It's a lot of work to get all the camping gear packed up, laundry done, groceries bought, etc with 3 kids!  I almost wondered if it was worth it!  And then once we were there and settled in and there was a quiet moment to look around and take in the magnificent beauty of Yosemite... YES!  It is SOOO worth it!  We love Yosemite!  John Muir once said, "It is the grandest of all the special temples of Nature I was ever permitted to enter."  I couldn't sum up the beauty of Yosemite any better!

This is the surroundings of our campground.

And Grant was totally in his element: outdoors ALL DAY LONG!  He spent most of his time looking for sticks.

My uncle Randy, a veteran camper, gave us this backpack for Zoey and it was a total lifesaver!  She loved being in it!

On the way to Yosemite Falls.  You can see the waterfall in the background.

One of the reasons why we always go in May is because the waterfalls are so full.  It's breathtaking!

If you look really hard, you can see Half Dome in the background.

We took bikes this year, so Zoey rode it out in the backpack on grandpa's back one day.

We're cool cause we're in Yosemite!

Hangin' out around the fire

In the early evening, Cory discovered that the deer come out into the meadow.  Obviously, Maggie was amazed.

Deer in the meadow.

But deer weren't the only wildlife we had close encounters with.  THIS IS A BEAR IN OUR CAMP in broad daylight!  A first for all of us!

Here he is walking towards our camp to check out our food stash.  The rangers had warned that the bear activity was up this year, but I didn't expect that we would actually have one visit us!

He knew exactly what he wanted, too!  He went straight to the table where there was a basket of food and threw out the bagels and went straight for the Entemann's donuts.  He took them a few yards away to enjoy and then he came back to look for more.  We had put all the food away in the meantime.

The beautiful Half Dome.  Someday we'll climb it!

Mother's Day 2009

In addition to feeling all the blessing from being a mom this year, I'm grateful that I got to spend this Mother's Day with my own mom!  She came into town for Zoey's blessing and even though she has 2 other daughters, she had no other choice but to come spend Mother's Day with me this year.  Neener, neener sistahs!

This picture perfectly depicts Grant.  I love all my kids, but there's just something about that Grant...

Zoey's Blessing Day

We had the opportunity to give Zoey her blessing at home.  It was so special and intimate that I wish we had blessed Maggie and Grant at home, too!  Cory did a great job and we all got the impression that Zoey knew something special was happening.  She was very quiet and didn't take her eyes off of Cory.  I'm grateful that Zoey (and all my babies) get a headstart in life with special promises and blessings from the Priesthood.

Poor girl has to endure LOTS of kisses from mom EVERYDAY.  She's pretty used to it, by now!

Cory's mom made this beautiful blessing dress.  Maggie wore it, too!  It is my favorite dress that she has ever made and I feel so lucky to own it!

My parents came into town for the blessing and it was my dad's first time meeting Zoey.

Welcome to our family, Zoey!  We love you!

There was cause to celebrate!

Any excuse to go to Disneyland is quite acceptable.

#1 Grant is finally binky free! We'd been promising Grant that if he "gave up" the pacifier, we'd take him to Disneyland.  Good job, Grant!  You're a big boy now!

#2 It was Aunt Amber's birthday! Yeah!  Everyone gets into Disneyland for free on their birthday this year!  Yeah!

Can you guess what ride this is?

How did Grant know to turn the wheel?

A penny from Cory's penny machine

I love it when Maggie takes Grant by the neck hug... too cute!

One minute she was asleep, the next she's awaken by colorful dancing puppets singing "It's a Small World".  Oh, how exciting for an 8 week old!

A wreckless driver!

Pooped out!  Too pooped to even finish the sucker.
By the way, have I mentioned that "poop" also happens to be Grant's favorite word these days?

Next trip: when Grant learns to go potty on the toilet... hurry up, Grant!!  Put that "poop" in the toilet!
