Merry Christmas!!!!

I can't believe I'm turning into one of them...those bloggers who only blog every few months. Is life really that busy? Apparently so.

We finally did it. Probably the trip of a lifetime, because I'm pretty sure we won't be doing it again any time soon. We've always said that someday we'd take the kids to Disneyland. (Maybe I'm the only one who said it) We saved our pennies, earned some "Disney dream dollars" and decided that this was the time. We wanted it to be a Christmas gift, so, we decided to do it at Christmas time. Last week, we loaded up the Yukon, headed off, stopped in Pocatello to pick up Bill's sister, Amanda, and were on our way to sunny (crazy driving, culturally eye opening, crazy crowded) California.

We tearfully, and yet so thankfully, left our cute little bug here with Grandma Bezzant. While we missed her terribly, and worried she could possibly destroy Grandpa and Grandma or their home during those 6 1/2 days, there's no way that we could have done it with her.

I had Ally go through our pictures for me, and load on some that we could post.

We don't want to buy the ears, only try them on! (Amanda didn't get to go to Disneyland with her family years ago, so it's her turn now!)

Sunny beach at Oceanside, it was 85 degrees that day! (as we were driving away)

I made them pose for this. Aren't they cute?!
They were just a little more daring than the girls.

Replica of Jurassic Jaws at Sea World

Waiting for a high five from the dolphins.

Meeting Shamu! (or maybe his cousin)

The Lego store at Downtown Disney District. Their choice for a souvenir was a box of Lego's that we could have purchased at home. But, they love them!

Matthew loved to sit on all the little "picture spot" cars.

Yeah, it's that exciting!

This was one of the first places we stopped. I have a picture of me and my mom in front of this little Alice in Wonderland house 18 years ago. So, we just had to stop!

This is at the front gate.
"We can't believe we're really here!"

At the "rainforest cafe" - a splurge that we wouldn't have done, but, Bill's boss very kindly gave us money, to take our kids there.

That's all for now. (Maybe more than you wanted to see!) --Just for the record, 36 hours of car riding with your family can really tire you, your body, your mind, out. And... I probably wouldn't take a four year old on a trip like that again. He loved so many parts of it, but it wore the poor little thing right out! Sure, there are cute things for him to see, a few fun little rides but the older kids were much more entertained! I asked him what his favorite part was..."swimming"! :)

It's here!

So we all sit, and anxiously hear about all of the hype of the H1N1 "swine" Flu. Should I get vaccinated, or should I not?

Well, as of this week, that is no longer an issue for us. We ARE the ones being talked about on the news. Yea for us! My brothers family in IF had it, we were not around them. So who were we around that could have contaminated us all at once? The only place we all go at once is church. I don't know. I'm just curious to know the cycle of it.

Maycie has had a little cold, and it started into a bit of a cough on Tuesday. By Tuesday night she was fevered. I knew if it continued I needed to get her to the doctor. Wednesday morning I got her to the doctor. She was so weak, just laying on my shoulder whimpering, and if I'd move her or she'd try to crawl or walk, she'd say "Owwee". So before the doctor even saw her, they did "the" test. When he came in, he brought the little test strip that had a bright pink stripe indicator on the "Influenza A" space. He was very informative, and I appreciated the time he took to explain things to me. He did say that they had been sending every positive test off to a lab, to see for sure if it was swine flu, and 99% were coming back positive. So the lab said, "please don't send us any more right now." He said since the seasonal flu has not hit us here yet, we're positve that all of these flu cases are swine flu.

With all of the talk, and news coverage, and mis-reporting my kids were pretty upset. Some asked if Maycie was going to die. Here's my understanding, with the doctors help. Swine flu has the same symptoms as any other flu out there. However, it is new, it has not been around before, so no one has built up immunities to it. So, chances are, if you are exposed, you will get it. Because so many people are getting it, we are hearing of more complications, because more people have it. And, people who have medical conditions are going to suffer more, and so there will be more reported deaths.

The rest of the story...

The doctor wanted to put Maycie on Tamiflu, to shorten the duration and severity of her flu. I agreed, because she was so sick. He advised me to put everyone on it-because we WERE going to get it. But, he said that it would be expensive. I told him I thought I should wait. I talked with the pharmacist when I filled Maycie's (gasp) $94 perscription, and, to fill enough for our family, we'd be looking spending around $800! Ummm, I think I'll hold off!

I've kept Josh home from school for a couple days, because he's been coughing (just in case). They say it's contagious before you know you have it. I haven't let Matthew play with his friends (much to his great sadness and sorrow). The night Maycie was diagnosed, I started feeling a weird tight cough, and some achiness. Yesterday, every move I made ached. My toes, my ankles, my knees, my hips, my fingers, and I was saying owwee! As bad as I felt yesterday, I don't hurt nearly as bad today. I really hope that with all the vitamin C and D that we've been taking, our immune systems will just kick this in a hurry! :) Maycie was sooo much better the second day, and I don't think it was the tamiflu, since, I have experienced the same thing, without it.

Matthew fell asleep early last night on the couch - he's a little fevered. Josh's throat hurts "SO BAD" Ally's does too, and she aches, Tyson's Ab's are killing him, Jaron's throat, stomach and cough only hurt "a little"! (He wanted to go to school) It's going to be a long weekend!!

Wow, long post. Wanted to document it, so, there you go. Watch out for a spontaneous cough, sore throat, severe aches, fever, chills, stomach ache, head and neck ache (Did I mention any aches?) AND hopefully if you do get it, It won't be because of us. We're not going anywhere!!!

Haircuts for everyone! (Even me!)

It's 9:00 pm on a Saturday. Mom feels lousy. Kids are tired. It's time for bed. What should we do? HAIRCUTS!Matthew didn't like the sound of the buzzer, so he opted for the scissors. You can see how much he's enjoying himself.
I thought Tyson had a lot of hair to cut. Guess who's was next?

Matthew has become the boy who keeps me smiling. He's my buddy when the kids are gone. And ALWAYS is requesting to "play with my friends". "Mmmm" he "LOVES" things I make - or pretty or awesome things. Yesterday he called out from the bathroom, "Mom! My legs are getting sooo big -- They're big as robot legs!"

I have arrived!

I remember just a few short years ago, sending my cute tiny daughter off to kindergarten. Going to the orientation - sitting there with the other parents at different stages of life. Thinking that it was official. I am a real Mom! Wow, life was simple. Children were young. The biggest deals back then were the messes the kids made, Tyson trying to hit his sister, dealing with no sleep with babies that wouldn't sleep through the night. (Those were and still are big deals!) But today, as I walked into the Commons of the High School to attend parent teacher conference (ever so reminiscent of Rigby High School) I knew I had arrived. It really is official now... With a child in each of four schools, I am a MOM! As I run to and fro, and to again, I think I'm understanding what busy is. As a stay at home Mom, I'd like to find the "at home" again, and get myself organized. (Would anyone like to nominate me for "Mission Organization"?)

As I sat and listened to the teachers talk about my great kids (hooray) I thought of how quickly the years go by. I sit and rock my little Maycie, and I'm trying to cherish each moment, remember how she looks, and I think how it truly was not that long ago that I was rocking Ally. If time were to go for Ally as it did for me...I'll be a grandma in 8 years. SAY WHAT!? I didn't think my parents were "old" when I was in high school - but, they sure seemed older than I am! (didn't they?)

It won't be long before Bill and I are sitting on the porch, sighing, and singing "Sunrise, Sunset".

Really?

Mom..."Hey kids, we've got to get out to the garden, and pick the beans. I just picked a few, and I think there's quite a bit out there. "

Kids..."Awww, do we have to?"

Mom..."Yep, it won't take very long if we all do it together"

Kids...two hours later..."Wow Mom, that's a lot of beans!"

(So, why am I not blogging?...I'm canning)

Don't let their cute little smiles fool you. Mom did pick 87% of them.

ONE

Bill and I recently celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary. (OK, so I'm a little slow, it was May) I'm so thankful to have a wonderful, devoted, hard working and loving husband. We're coming closer to the time when we will have been together longer than we have been apart. That seems hard to believe! It is a wonderful life. We are blessed.

I don't think either of us thought, going on that first date, that this was the one. Me in my slicked back, ugly dancer hair - Bill in his flannel plaid shirt, and tight 501's. But, once we got together, we were never apart, and all it took was one date!

I was thinking how alike we are at times. It certainly isn't hard to know how he's feeling about something, or what he's going to say (usually- I still have to pry it out of him occasionally!)

It always makes me smile when we blurt out the same word, or sentence spontaneously. For instance, this week, we went on a little 4-wheeler ride, and drove by our neighbors house. Their little curly headed girl was looking out the window at us, and as if on cue, we both said "little orphan Annie". Then yesterday, as Allyson and I were talking about Michael Jackson and singing a few of his songs, Bill came in the house to my serenade of "na na na...woo, woo, woo" (can't you tell, that's "Man in the Mirror"?) Then after visiting for a few minutes, I turned around, and again, right on cue, we sang together "Gonna make a change, for once in my life." Funny. He always says - "Get out of my head".
So... when you think about being one - how alike will we be in an eternity? It will be fun finding out.

He told me that his new favorite song is "Then" by Brad Paisley, then he sang it to me. Sweet! I love him!

Family, Food, Fun!

Anyone for some Memorial Day kickball? We decided we needed a little friendly competition in the Bezzant Family. (and Jessica, along with the rest of us, felt that one more night of reliving repeated childhood stories, was more than we could handle.) So, break out the exercise ball, and limber up.

Then, the day after school got out we loaded up, and headed off to Wallsburg, Utah to the Harward family reunion. A couple of fun days, of family, food, and fishin.

Wet, wet, wet!!

I guess that most of you who might be reading this have had just as wet a summer as we have. But this is more rain than I remember getting in a long, long time. Last month our irrigation pump, to the acreages in our subdivision, broke down. So we have been without irrigation for our pasture, and grain. What a blessing when we got rain, and our fields didn't dry up! Now if we could just dry out a little.

I called Bill today on my way home, and he said he was in the middle of cleaning up a flood, in the house! GREAT! When he got home, the back door was wide open, and another downpour had just come through. I usually lock the doors when I leave. But I had put some blankets out - to dry -(HA) and forgot. I felt a little sheepish for not shutting the door tight. Or did I???
My neighbor called shortly after I got home to see how things were at my house?? "Just fine...why?" Her son had just informed her that he, and some of Matthew's other friends had come over to play, but we weren't home, so they just came in (the back door) to find some light sabers! Ah Ha! So, I'm not losing my mind. - Lesson learned.

More EXCITING stories and pictures to come!! When I can sit guilt free, while everyone is sleeping.

New Trick!

Why is this so dang cute when they're babies?
Matthew has quite the personality. He came to the table the other night with all his "bling" on, ready to eat.
Then the other morning, he had several requests. Every once in a while, I agree to be a short order cook, so that they'll get some nutrition in them. As you can see, this morning, he had pancakes, watermelon, and strawberries on "different plates please!!"

And...we're back!!!

What a month! I was just going along, thinking that life was pretty easy going. Until the last couple of weeks hit. Since then,
* Sick kids
* teaching ballroom 3 times a week
* Pinewood Derby
* Emily's wedding
* Rich and Heidi in town for a week
* Josh's birthday
* and much, much more!

Emily and Caleb Leavitt - Married Saturday, April 25, 2009 in the Rexburg Temple. We had a great day of Wedding, luncheon, and reception at the Church. I helped Mom with the wedding planning/decorating/cake making, and decided to put on a quilt for her, 4 days before the wedding :). It was an exciting, and exhausting weekend.

Rich and Heidi were here from Maine, and we enjoyed family Barbeques, swimming at green canyon, Bear World, FHE, a good cry, Family Pictures (again) The kids have such a good time, when they come. (We all do!)
