And so, I promised Chris to run a quick update here but I don’t quite know where/what to start with. Then, I thought of this.
GLEE! One of my new favourite shows! It’s a musical comedy that incorporates dramedy and broadway/pop songs in the show! Below are the reasons why I love that show besides the great songs – the brilliant cast!
#1 Rachel Berry (played by Lea Michele), the fame-hungry but very talented singer. Maximizes every opportunity that may make her famous. When Will Schuester takes over the glee club (after former coach was fired for behaving intimately with another glee club student), Rachel signs up and auditions for it, very certain this is her chance to showcase her great talent. Excessive zeal and enthusiasm = no friends. (Boy. she really can sing!)
“You may think that every guy in school would want to tap this, but my MySpace schedule keeps me way too busy to date.”
“You’re actually a good singer, Quinn. Occasionally sharp, but that’s because you lack my years of training.”
#2 Sue Sylvester (played by Jane Lynch), one of my favourite characters! Head coach of the award-winning cheerleading team “Cheerios” in William McKingley High School, “arch nemesis” of the glee club. Openly brazen and evil-mouthed, and more than often, dishes out classic quotes in the show,
“If I was out to get you, I’d have you pickling in a mason jar on my shelf by now.”
“I don’t trust a man with curly hair. I can’t help picturing small birds laying sulfurous eggs in there and I find it disgusting.”
“You are about to board the Sue Sylvester Express. Destination? Horror. ”
“Me, I never wanted kids. Don’t have the time, don’t have the uterus.”
“Hey, William. I thought I smelled cookies wafting from the ovens of the little elves who live in your hair.”
“What Would Madonna Do? Well, the answer to that question is usually ‘date a younger man’.”
#3 Will Schuester (played by Matthew Morrison), Spanish teacher at McKingley High and new director of the glee club (he used to be in glee club during his school days) which he renamed “New Directions”. Also victim to Sue’s constant jokes about his hair.
#4 Kurt Hummel (played by Chris Colfer), the flamboyant singer who regularly gets dumped by the footabll team into the dumpster. He’s gay, have feelings for Finn who’s together with Quinn, who got involved (and then pregnant)with Puck, who also had something going on with Rachel and Mercedes at some point. His comical antics are timed perfectly,
“My body is like a rum chocolate soufflé. If I don’t warm it up right, it doesn’t rise.” – to Finn during the warm up of his football team audition
“Though I’ve been grouped with the boys, my allegiance still remains with you ladies. They declined my offer to do their hair in cornrows.”
“Can you go now? I’m half an hour behind on my moisturizing routine and I need to get up early.”
“I’m so depressed I’ve worn the same outfit twice this week.”
Glee’s funny, moving and very entertaining. If you love music, you will love the way they combine both broadway music and pop songs into this musical comedy! 🙂
It’s the interim before the 2nd season, and if you have not, you should go watch the first season! I love it! IMMA GLEEK!
