Thankful Thursday

So as I just barely remembered to do 'Thankful Thursday,' I haven't given this much thought. Let's see what I come up with-
Ok, here goes-

I'm thankful it didn't rain today! YAY!!! The sun is setting and the snow-tipped tops of the Rocky Mountains are shining from the last rays of the sun, today is beautiful! (Not a bad view from the back deck huh?)

Remainder of the staycation:

The last few days were extremely busy! As previously mentioned we went to the Children's Museum on Wednesday:
Thursday my baby girl turned 5! She got a trampoline and tickets to see Hannah Montana in concert this fall, among TOO many other great gifts, and thoroughly enjoyed the day. She is now looking forward to Kindergarten, but I'm not so sure I'm ready to admit my baby is going to school....

Friday Kolby and I spent the day at Lagoon. It's been a LONG time since the two of us have done anything without our kids. I felt guitly once we got there, knowing Hannah would have really enjoyed it, but then again, we needed some us time in a fun environment.
It was the only day this week we weren't bombarded with rain, so the park was busy, but nonetheless, pretty fun!
Saturday was pretty laid back. It rained again, I took a nap!!!! (which NEVER happens, but I loved it.) Then Saturday night I went to a sneak peek of 'The Proposal.' It was such a good movie, I absolutely loved it. On a side note, I was stopped at an intersection getting on the freeway when a car rear-ended me in my company car...there is hardly any mark on the bumper, but I am so frustrated with my luck that I refuse to further comment on the fourth accident I've been in since March.

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed my time off, it wasn't long enough, and gave me enough of a taste of being a stay at home mom, that I'm totally jealous I don't get to stay home. But I do appreciate the level of patience it takes to manage and care for kids ALL day long, it is a lot of work and you don't realize it until you do it!
Back to work tomorrow :(

Staycation Day 3

Good news, I got a new phone! So, as promised, I took the kids to the Discovery Museum downtown. Hannah had so much fun and asked when we could go back. They have SO much there, you could literally spend hours there! When we got back it was raining (big surprise right?), so we headed to get some candy for her pinata. At the party store the teenage boy working there heard she was turning 5 tomorrow, and gave her two little toy things. When we drove away Hannah said, "That boy that gave me these toys was handsome mom, I really like him."
Oh Man-----
She didn't even make it to 5 before she started liking boys, I thought I had a few more years!

Staycation Day 2

Today wasn't nearly as action packed as yesterday. I ran errands, got a pedicure, we did a little art {pipe cleaner farm animals from Martha Stewart that are too small and technical for children to do...no wonder they were on clearance}, and Hannah played with some new friends in the rain.
Did I mention that we are having unusual amounts of rain during the one week I took off from work?!!! How am I supposed to get a tan? I'm doomed to be pasty white-
Oh-and Maddax broke my phone, for some reason it froze and shut down, never to be turned on again. There goes all the data in my palm pilot, my numbers, pictures of him in the hospital, you get the gist.
Up next tomorrow: The Sprint Store. If all goes well there, we may venture to Wheeler Farm, The Children's Museum or Kangaroo Zoo, or if things don't go well there...then they are off to the babysitter's while I get a massage!

Staycation: Day 1

I took a week off of work (YAY!) Figuring out vacation between mine and Kolby's job didn't quite work out, so he only has 4 days off (which is better then none!) Anyway, we decided on a "stay-cation" instead of a vacation somewhere that requires most of our time driving to and from our destination.
So, Day 1:
We started with breakfast at Denny's with Kolby before he had to go to work. That place draws all sorts of people, wow.... Next, we headed to the zoo, knowing the weather was supposed to be 74 and scattered showers. There were in fact, scattered showers, but it was just enough to make the smelly animals "bear-able" (haha, couldn't help myself!) Maddax slept through most of his very first trip to the zoo, but Hannah loved it!
When we got home, the weather was a constant downpour of rain. So I dug through boxes to find my sewing machine. I whipped out some extra fabric and made a pennant banner for Maddax's room:
So it was a productive day...Later this week we will have Hannah's 5th birthday, maybe the Discovery Museum, hiking Mt. Timp, Lagoon...any suggestions?

Thankful Thursday

Yay! I remembered to do Thankful Thursday on Thursday! (According to the blog archive, it's been more than a while since I've done this..) I look around and have so much to be grateful for, but today I'm going to pick something I would have otherwise overlooked.
There is a viney rose bush on the side of our house, where nothing is growing, and it is basically dirt, but the previous owners planted this bushy thing and it is in FULL bloom, tiny little red roses everywhere!! I love flowers, I'm grateful to have flowers in bloom and see them everywhere in my yard these days :)

Dollar Section

I'm a sucker for Target, I love that store. No matter which one you go into, the dollar section is just right at the entrance, so you get sucked into looking at cheap crap you wouldn't normally buy, but because it's in the "dollar section" you tend to grab a thing or two. Well, this last week I noticed they had some fun outdoor games, but they were $2.50. So the dollar deals drew me in and I bought a $2.50 item (I'm thinking this was their goal, trick you into thinking good stuff is only a buck, but then they get you at checkout.)
Anywhoo- We got some plastic horseshoes and some cones to play in the backyard. Hannah doesn't like it much because she can't get the horshoe around the stake, but we had fun nonetheless. Next up, Soccer...we'll see if she inherited good or bad sportsmanship...
