36 1/2 weeks - dilated to a 3 and "complete" - looks like this baby (with a little help from the Dr.) just might come next week.

M*U*L*L*E*T

If you are related to this woman....or worse....if you are this woman.....please do not be offended by the following statement. We have decided.......the mullet that was rapidly taking over our daughters head, had to be "eliminated". I have never cut Jaisa's hair because it has taken forever to get this length ..however... I just could not bear to see my daughter so closely resemble the woman above (who I am sure has a wonderful personality). And who my husband had a saved picture of her on our computer just to show us Jaisa's potential.
Hearing Todd call her "mullet woman" and Tyson call her "big fat mullet", was starting to get to me. Unfortunately, she has already learned the word mullet and says it several times a day to get a reaction from us. So, I did what any caring, sensitive, and loving mother would do.... I cut it.

A CHRISTMAS STORY.............BY TODD

"CRACK UP"

Grandma has a Santa figurine downstairs by the fireplace. A couple of days after turning him on and off, Tyson noticed that the candle didn't light up any more. So he decided to investigate. I heard Tyson yelling "mom..mom..Santa has a crack". I walked over and Tyson had Santa's nightgown pulled up looking at his behind (or so I thought). He was talking about the crack that surrounds the compartment holding the batteries. I obviously thought he meant something else.

PREGNANCY UPDATE

Good news! I went to the hospital for my non-stress test and the baby looked "picture perfect" as the nurse said. The Dr. was afraid of low amniotic fluid levels, but I am happy to report that I am still in the "normal" range - which is anywhere from 10-24 - I am at 10. I am at the very low side of "normal", but as long as it doesn't drop (which we are hoping it doesn't), then myself and the baby should be fine.
I am now at a 2 1/2 and still 80%. The Dr. recommended that I lay low this week so that he won't have to deliver a Christmas baby. After my appointment next Wednesday, I will be home free. Once I hit the 37 week mark (in 2 weeks), he offered to strip me and said that considering my cervical progression, his guess is that it would start my labor. YIPPEE!!! I just have to decide what day of the week to go in and have him do this.... which will take some calculating of different possible birthdays for this little one. Otherwise, worse case scenario......I will be induced the 15th or 16th of January.

Jaisa wearing her Christmas dress for the one and only time... *thank goodness for hand-me-downs* Tyson was so excited to show off his Christmas tie that the elves left for him last night. They come a couple of days before Christmas to check up on the kids and make sure that they are being nice.....**they must base it purely upon when the kids are sleeping, because Tyson has had quite the sassy mouth this week** He got himself dressed and ready for church. Complete with his "cool" clip-on tie.

Jaisa with her new pillowcase from Grandma Weston. Now she not only has to have her blanket and bear... but she wants to carry her Dodo pillow around the house....everywhere. And finally it happened..... all the baby talk and preparations have gotten to her and think the jealousy is setting in. I caught her with her doll's bottle and all of her bedding just laying on the floor (acting like a baby). This new addition is not going to be as smooth as thought it might be. And I'm starting to get a little nervous.

What kind of mother would send her 5 year old to his Christmas program in a long sleave brown t-shirt? That would be me! UGH..... I was not thinking (a huge problem these days) and Tyson was 1 out of about 5 kids not wearing "Christmas colors". Oh well......I will work on that next year.

I didn't get any good pictures of Tyson at his Christmas program, but wanted to at least document with what I did get.

**Reason #2 I'm a loser..... I started bawling like a baby when I would make eye contact with him. He was so excited and singing as loud and hard as he could. All the other mothers were singing along wand smiling with their children. Not me....I had to keep my face hidden behind my hair for fear that someone would ask me what was wrong or mistake my crying for labor pains. The eye contact had to stop about 1/2 through and I just focused on Jaisa rolling around on the wet floor.**

    IT'S A "NEST-OFF"

The "nesting" has begun. I have been frantically washing all the baby's clothes, packing a bag, clearing out toys and clothes the kids don't use etc... I guess Tyson has been watching and learning. He called me into his room a couple of weeks ago to show me something. To my surprise, he had dumped out his drawers and was folding all of his clothes nice and neat. He showed me how well he could fold....... without my help. "First", he said and laid his pajama top flat out on the carpet.
    "Then you do this"..........
"And then you do this................... see mom, I can do it".
I had to laugh when I looked in his top drawer and saw all of his underwear folded nice and neat. **Not to mention the mismatched socks and gloves** It's nice to know he doesn't just learn his bad habits from me. Too bad his folding and organizing hasn't happened since. I had high hopes for his drawers to always look this good.

    NOAH'S ARK........(TYSON'S VERSION)

Jaisa and I stayed home from church today, because we were both under the weather. So, Tyson went with his Grandma and Grandpa. When he got home, I asked him what he learned in church today. His eyes got really big and animated and he proceeded to tell this story:
"Mom, remember that toy that you were going to get Jaisa at Target?" I answered "yes" even though I had no idea what he was talking about. Then he continued " Well, we talked about that man, how he built a boat and then there was lightning and he told everyone to get on the boat". "Oh, you mean Noah", I said. "Yeah, Noah". And you know what mom? Some people......... they didn't listen to him and they were laughing at him. Yeah, it was really bad and then there was thunder. Then, it turned dark and all the water came out. So, Noah was helping everyone and all the animals on the boat. And the boat was even so big that there were cars, because it was a really big boat. And there was a roof made out of wood and it kept all of the water away. Then, they sailed all over the world for 20 years and all the lightning went away and all storms and water. So, everyone got out of the ship and they were safe.

    34 WEEKS AT LAST!!!!

I made it to 34 weeks!!!! Not such a milestone for most pregnancies (certainly neither of mine in the past), but for this one....... a milestone. I have been going in weekly for the last month to make sure there is no progression in dilation and effacement from the 80% and 2 at my 30 week appointment. There is something said for being lazy because........ there have only been slight changes, though the baby has dropped and is "ready" when my body is. Good to know. No breech baby here. I have never had a c-section and would hate to start having them now. Jaisa has somewhat figured out (with much help from her brother) that there is a baby in mommy's belly. She always comes up to me, lifts up my shirt and puts her blanket on my belly saying "baby". The other day she came carrying a marker and started inking up my belly. As soon as Tyson noticed, he was headed in my direction to do the same thing. So, being the ca-razy mom that I am, I told him that he could draw a picture of what he thought the baby looked like. Lets just say that if the baby is this small and ugly, looking more like a hampster than a baby...... I will be very disappointed. But, I thought the drawing itself was too cute to not show off. I'm sure I will regret posting this as soon as I hit enter, but I'm feeling generous to share my belly with friends and family.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY TY GUY!

Todd was going to be out of town on Tyson's actual birthday, so we took him and 2 friends bowling last Saturday. He had so much fun......

and so did his little sister.
She loved the arcade, bowling, balloons, birthday song, cupcakes and Tyson's friends :)

Tyson made his own cake and was quite proud! In his own words, "Being 5 is soooo cool. Jaisa you can't be 5 like me". I love this kid!

I would say that being his mother is definitely one of THE best things that has ever happened to me.

    ANOTHER "FRUGAL" FIND

I went to Toys R Us last night to get a little something for Tyson's birthday. While I was there, I noticed that there was a sale on the Lego's. I grabbed 2 box sets and realized that even though the sale was buy one get one 1/2 off, it still was going to be $70. I figured it was worth it since Tyson spends hours and hours building and rebuilding things. Plus.... the "experts" say that kids need to get back to basics when it comes to play time. They need to play outdoors more. More boardgames and building blocks to use their imagination, rather than have their imagination handed to them through t.v shows and video games. So, to get back to how to save money....... as I was walking around debating if I should really get these 2 boxes of Lego's, I noticed at the end of the isle, several box sets and cases of something called Best-Lock construction blocks. They looked just like Lego's but were a fraction of the cost. On the front of the box it said "fits other brands". Why not go ahead and save myself $50-60? I grabbed 2 huge boxes with over 1000 pieces in each (way more than what the Lego brand offered). One was planets and spaceships, the other police and emergency vehicles. They were $20 and $30 with an extra 25% off. *****AMAZING!!! *****I put the real Lego's back and headed home to see if they really were every bit as good as the overly-prices Lego. Hallelujah-they were! And...... because they were 1/3 of the price..... I like them even more! The only difference I can see is in the color. The generic ones are slightly lighter, but really not noticeable, especially to a 4 year old little boy.

    WARD CHRISTMAS PARTY

This was not at all posed **wink-wink**The kids really wanted nothing to do with Santa . Tyson does this at the beginning of every Christmas season and by then end.... he and Santa are "buddies". They loved the stuffed reindeer and wanted to pet him all night.
We headed outside to see the real reindeer. I learned that reindeer are NOT social animals...... Why Santa still uses them is beyond me.
How can kids be more scared of an old man in a red suit that brings you presents, than a big nasty smelly animal with huge antlers that won't make eye contact???

I THINK I GOT IT RIGHT THIS YEAR

Last year, Tyson was a little... let say.... disappointed when he began to open his presents and realized that not all the things we wrote down were there in front of him. He didn't realize, at barely 4 years of age, that just because he asked for something from Santa, it didn't mean that he would get it-all. It was my fault for getting him interested in all the new toys, showing him all the adds and commercials to get him extra excited (he was my first-I didn't know). This year will be different. I am already done with my Christmas shopping and had him make out a list. I gave him ideas of things that he wanted (things I have purchased), so that when he opens his presents this year, it will be things on his list. He will have a new found respect for Santa. One point for mom!

    MY "FRUGALITY" PAYS OFF.........

I went into Michaels craft store last night to grab some gift boxes and noticed how yummy the store smelled. On my way to check out, I noticed a shelf with candles that said 2 for $7.00. Hmmmmm, being the frugal (or cheap) person that I am, I smelled them all and took a chance that they smelled as strong when they were lit as they did in the jar - which they never do! I'm so glad that I did. I got holly berry (not Halle Berry). Within minutes of lighting it, the whole basement smelled like a fresh minty Christmas tree. The smell was so strong and so yummy. I don't know about the others, but this one was worth the $3.50. But, for all the candle snobs out there who don't want to take my word for it..... the Salt City Candles are on sale at Smiths right now. Buy one at $17.99 get one free.

    LIPGLOSS OF CHOICE

My sister Stephanie introduced me to DUWOP venom lip plumper about 4 years ago. I love love love it. It doesn't make your lips noticeably bigger, but I love the tingle and the shades that it comes in. By far...... my favorite lip gloss. The spicy mint "flavor" makes it that much better, since fruit flavors bug me when I'm pregnant. Unfortunantly, the Nordstrom by my house doesn't carry it, so I had to get it from Sephora. Good thing, because it led me to :

This is made by SUGAR, and it does make your lips noticeably bigger - almost "fake". It will set your lips on fire, but it is worth it (if you like plump lips).
**make sure you stay in the line of your lips, because it will cause welts if it gets anywhere on your face. Also, may I suggest not kissing your children or significant other while wearing this product. Jaisa had a huge welt by her ear for about an hour the other day and even the Dr. looked concerned and asked what it was during her appointment- my bad!**

    Sunday, November 30, 2008

Look how excited Tyson was about 10 minutes before my aunt administered a flu shot in his leg- while he unexpectedly wrestled with his dad on the floor. And that is what happens when you don't let them do it at the Dr.'s office.

** Normally, we don't do flu shots, but with the arrival of this baby and Tyson in preschool, the Dr. strongly advised all of us to get one this year**

    Saturday, November 29, 2008

Last night when Tyson noticed that I was getting dressed to go out to dinner with friends, he said in a sarcastic high pitched voice " goin somewhere Lynds?" It was even funnier when I noticed that he had his socks pulled up to his knees and was making this cheesy face. I told him that we were going shopping for Christmas, so he wouldn't care that we weren't going to be home to tuck him in. He then said in the same voice " whatcha gonna buy for Christmas Lynds? You gonna buy a snowman........ or a t.v......... or a reindeer?" This kid has a one-of-a-kind sense of humor....... and I love it!
