Thanksgiving!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving week!  The boys loved having Ethan home most of the week and being free to play all day.  We had a yummy Thanksgiving dinner at Jason and Amelia's house with Grandma Herzog and Aunts and Uncles.  The kids had fun with their cousins and we were even able to play a game:)

We changed our pilgrims hats in for reindeer antlers and decorated the tree on Saturday.  The kids were a little less-than-motivated, but we finally got them to come help.

This was our tree last year- I have had it in burgundy and pink for the past few years.

And since redecorating the front room, I had to switch colors (for the third time).  Looks like we are going with teal blue and lime green for awhile.  I like it!

A week of the blah's

Coming back from vacation is always blah.  There is laundry to do and normal routines to get busy with.  Coming back to a foot of snow is extra blah.  I didn't really want winter to come around another year.  I keep waiting til I can migrate south for the winter.  And then coming home with the stomach flu is even more blah.

Ethan woke up in the middle of the night on our trip and threw up multiple times.  I figured it was probably a combination of lots of fast, spinning rides plus greasy food.  But I also knew the boys shared water bottles (one thing I hate about vacation- it's hard not to share germs.  Gross). And so if the other ones came down with it, we definitely had some sort of virus.  And yep, Monday night Eli and Tyce traded off throwing up all night.  The joy of being a parent.  By Wednesday night, I was puking too.  And I felt miserable all Thursday as well.  I hate being sick.  It makes me appreciate my health so much more though!

On a brighter note, Ethan had early-out all week due to SEP (parent/teacher conferences).  His SEP went so well- he is doing well above average in everything and the teacher just gave glowing reports about him.  It was one of those moments that make you feel like you are doing something right as a parent:)  Great job, Ethan!  Keep up the good work!

And here is my little Indian, home from preschool

And the boys had fun playing outside in the melting snow

Day 5

The final day was quite chilly, and we spent it in Disneyland.  We were actually able to get right on a bunch of big rides- Splash Mtn, Space Mtn, Matterhorn, Big Thunder Railroad first thing in the morning.  Eli was tall enough for the big rides this year and loved 'em.  The day got progressively more and more busy (it was a Friday) and we had to fight the crowds and wait in longer lines.  We enjoyed dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and then bundled up to watch the fireworks.  And that finished off a lovely week in Disneyland!  We came.  We saw (everything).  We conquered.

This picture was taken the first day- Eli's first time going down Splash Mtn.  I don't know who looks more terrified, Eli or Grandma?

And this picture was taken on Ethan's first time at Splash Mtn- Classic.

Day 4

Eli was chosen to be a Jedi-in-training on Thurs and was in heaven!  He fought valiantly and refused to join the dark side.  Nice job, Eli!

We spent some time in Toon Town so we could get our traditional picture with Mickey Mouse.

It rained that evening, so we stayed dry in CA adventures talking to Crush the turtle.  We managed to stay out for the Colors of the Wind water show that night which was absolutely fabulous, but a bit chilly.

Day 3- Mixin it Up

We spent the morning in Disneyland and the afternoon in CA adventures on Wed.  Eli was the first one ready to go back to the park, so daddy turned him into 'goofy'

Ethan was soooo thrilled to get chosen as a Jedi-in-training.  Eli was so distraught that he wasn't chosen!  Ethan did great!  He remembered all the moves to fight Darth Vader and refused to join the dark side.

The new Mater/tractor ride was pretty cute.

We took some cousins to watch the Bugs Life 3-D show.  Allie was absolutely terrified!  She grabbed my arm and whimpered the whole time- it was just too real to her.  Poor thing.

And we got to hold a cool bird.

A few snuggles before we call it a night!

Day 2- CA Adventures

It was another 90 degree day and we spent it in CA adventures.  We tried out the Monsters Inc ride while Tom went straight for the fast passes for the new Cars rollercoaster ride.  We were told they are gone within the first hour that the park opens.

We met up with cousins Allie and Olivia for the Disney Jr show.  The kids absolutely loved it! They got to see Mickey and the gang, Little Einsteins, and Jake and the Neverlands pirates.  It was one of my favorites cause the kids are so fun to watch.  They were dancing and clapping and collecting 'real' gold dubloons at the end.

We spent a bit of time around Bug Land before it was time to take Tyce for a nap.  The boys said the new Cars ride was pretty cool.  They also watched Aladdin (twice) and did more rides in CA adventures.  We stayed til the park closed at 8pm that night.

Day 1- Disneyland

After waiting in multiple long lines to get into the park and get our tickets, we finally made it to Disneyland!  It was a sweltering 90+ degrees that day!

The first thing Tyce wanted to do when we got in- ride the choo-choo train of course!

Except for me and Tyce who went home daily for naps, the boys went strong the whole day!  It sure was a lot busier than we were used to at Disneyland.  But we were sure glad to have our Disney Rewards card so we could enjoy meals and snacks at the park without paying the ridiculous prices!  We stuck around for the parade that night and the kids loved it.  Except Eli, who was so tired he fell asleep and all the noise and commotion didn't make him budge.  It was a good day:)
