January 2012~keyan is 2 years 2 months

Didnt realize how far behind I am with posting..... Keyan.....our busy busy 2 year old is just changing before our eyes....we started up swimming lessons again this month as well as gymnastics at the "little gym" in orem.... which much to our surprise and most of the teachers there... he really is advancing quite rapidly.... from almost walking on the high balance beam on his own, swinging from the uneven bars and rings... he just is a bundle of energy.... loves to jump, kick balls, and run run run!! Even with our busy schedule he seems to still find time to drive mommy crazy with his millions of requests during any given day. His favorite things right now are trains, trucks, books, cars, ipad, itouch, iphone... anything that starts with an "i"! He is talking so much and making full sentences... he loves to count to 10 and now knows the majority of the abc song thanks to dvd, book and flash cards of hooked on phonics:) Keyan is a lover and will jump on you, kiss, give loves and practically attack with love.... he is very compassionate and when I or someone is sick or hurt... he is very sweet and sensitive.... latest being when I had a lovely fall down the stairs one day practically doing a back flip as keyan says ...."momma you ok"? :) He loves to pray each and every night as well as read scripture... he is so sweet in his prayers thanking god for things such as his cousins...sometimes naming them one by one, dipping sauce, papa, grandma, grandma's house, grandma's rice... ect! His latest favorite thing to do is strip down to a diaper and try on just about every pair of shoes he has... which is about twenty pair... I know he loves shoes... what can i say... he takes after his mom... and his dad!!!

AUG/SEPT 2011 21-22 MOS

Wow... this past few months have just gone by so quickly I realize I have fell behind on my blogging of keyans life! Wow... he has just changed right before our eyes and is growing up so fast and becoming such a big boy! August brought many new changes to his vocabulary and understanding... He is saying yes please and thank you to everything... such good manners... love that about him...He is becoming much better and using the "potty" and staying dry most of the day... we still have to get the "pooping" down as it is a hit and miss type of thing right now.....He is still busy in his toddler tumbling class and reading class at the library! He loves to walk on the balance beam, summersalts on the floor and of course uneven rings... his favorite is the trampoline and gets mad when we have to leave! We also had the unfortunate event of getting in our first car accident here in utah too:( We were rear ended by grandma yi house after taking her to the dentist... we had just dropped her off when it happened and just so my cousin happened to be the middle car behind me in this big mess..... needless to say I couldnt turn my neck within a few hours of the accident and made a trip to urgent care and now getting chiropractic care... keyan also was looked at and he did have a small whiplash as well.... my poor lil guy... just felt so bad we had to be the innocent bystanders in that mess! But life goes on... Tyler was gone for two and half weeks in texas in a training.... we were able to meet up with him at the end of the month is dallas and had a great trip staying at a place called gaylord and got to enjoy the waterpark right at the resort hotel everyday and ate some amazing bbq as well. I also got to be play "nurse" while enjoying some texas bbq as a nice lady sitting next to me syncopated and had a seizure... oh joy.... ;)
My nephew tayven got to come visit us for the first time in utah at the end of the month for a few days and boy did keyan love having his playtime with his boy cousin! He is the only boy on our side of the family so he just loved spending time with him and we got to enjoy many trips to the pool here and also at lehi legacy center. We enjoyed one entire day at thanksgiving point going to the dinosaur museum, farm country, and childrens garden.. and topped of the day with ice cream and a 3D movie at the cineplex! k
September brought us to reno for our annual trip over labor day weekend to enjoy some ribs at the rib cookoff!  My mom and I also threw a baby shower for teeara as her baby is due the beginning of december.... yay for another boy in the family.....keyan will be so excited!! The weather was really great and got to enjoy some time outside at my parents house including riding the 4 wheeler and of course grandpa's tractor and keyan litereally didnt want to get off!!
He said his first 5 word sentence as well...."ok see ya bye bye dadda"....wow we were both in shock when we heard this... just went from one and two words right to sentences! Keyan just seems to surprise us every day with his amazing abilities to understand, talk and respond to us....he is our peice of sunshine and is so compassionate when anyone is hurt.... guess that might come from us... at least I hope it does:) I got to hike timp cave a few times as well with keyan... it is quite the hike... it is a little over two miles each way with a gain in 6000 ft in elevation.... lets just say with him in the hiking backpack, water and snacks is close to 50 lbs... great excercise! My favorite part of my day is when keyan comes in to lay with me in the morning and wakes me up by kissing and hugging on me.... nothing beats that! Just love him so much!!!

July 2011~20 months old!

Keyan's vocabulary has really just taken off... he says whatever is on his mind and frequently repeats everything we say....which in turn makes us think before we speak!:)
He is quite the little swimmer now too as we go swimming at the pool 3-4 times a week... he wears this floatie device that goes around his stomach and arms and he jumps in and splashes around with no hesitation! I think the swimming lessons we took in the spring have really helped with his no fear of the water... he is so great to spit the water out if he happens to get his face in the water! He loves to play at the park... the one in our neighborhood and the discovery park in pleasant grove...we have to get out at least two times a day! He continues to love story time on mondays at the library where he participates in story telling, parades and crafts! He has really done so well at toddler tumbling at a local gymnastics place where he is now swinging on the rings, doing summersalts and hanging from uneven bars and pulling himself up almost to a pull up!! Wow.... he really does love the trampoline the most where he can now jump up sit on his bottom and come up again on his feet! He has now been going for two months and really is loving all the jumping, running and hanging and even tries it at home!!:)
This month was packed with family visits, trips and events! We started out the first of the month with tylers brother and family visiting from virginia... we were able to attend stadium of fire and see brad paisley, david archuleta and other local talent.... wow this year was so amazing and fireworks were truly the best we have seen! Keyan loved the music and was dancing and singing along.... of course had to have kettle corn (his favorite) from BYU stands to make his fourth complete. We were able to host his cousin ezra's first birthday party at our clubhouse for traditional korean food and ceremony. My aunt and uncle, marty and dave came up from AZ and and were able to stay with us and meet keyan.... how fun to see them... just loved having them! My cousin had her baby blessed on that sunday as well where we got to see many of our relatives from texas as well!
The second week of july brought my brother and his kids visiting from oregon for the first time.... keyan was just so excited to have his cousins here and was pretty sad to see everyone leave. We were excited to go to seven peaks for the first time since moving to utah... I havent been there since I was a teen coming to youth conference... it sure has changed! Keyan loved going on some of the rides and was a little overwhelmed at the toddler pool as there were a million and a half kids there... but really enjoyed the lazy river! He sure does love the older girls and really can turn on the charm.... going to have to lock him up when he is older!
Tyler and I got to get away for an evening and attend kenny chesney and billy currington in slc... he received some free tickets from the military so it was a great date night! My brother and kids watched keyan for us and he was so good for them... which makes it easier getting away for an evening!
We ended the month with a trip to san diego with tyler as he was there for a yellow ribbon event! I just have to say that I love san diego... from amazing weather, friendly people and the most amazing beaches.... we really fell in love it..... and hoping one day to live there! We stayed right off harbor blvd at the manchester hyatt.... amazing hotel... I must say! There are so many things to do right there... we walked along the pier on friday and shopped around at seaport village which has exclusive shops, ice cream parlors and live music! We took a few hours to go to the pool that overlooked the bay as tyler finished up some work! Saturday we attended sea world.... which was a perfect day 72 degrees and just beautiful! Keyan loved seeing all the animals and enjoyed the 4D sesame street show with full effects including a shower of water!! He absolutely loved the dolphins and the children fun center with some fun carnival rides! We ate amazing thai food at the gaslamp district and topped the night off with pinkberry frozen yogurt! yummy!!! Sunday brought another full day at the san diego zoo... it was keyans and I first time... and boy that place is massive! I think we needed three days to walk the entire park. We did a bus tour around the park and then did the sky tram over to the elephants, lions, giraffes and panda bears! He really did love the animals... the elephants were his favorite as he got to see them getting a bath. He wasnt too sure of the sky tram ride... got a little scared and held on so tight! He crashed as we walked out of the park! We enjoyed some awesome seafood at the fish market at seaport village and keyan tried the clam chowder... he loved it! We headed back on monday after a half day at the coranodo beach and playing in the sand.... keyan literally had sand in his ears, eyes, nose and mouth! He really just loves the sand and beach.... which makes us want to move closer to the beach... truly is one of our favorite places to be!!

June~2011~19 months

Wow... I cant beleive how much we have packed into a few short weeks! We started off with going poo poo in the potty! Yay for hoping to get out of diapers soon! We also were able to hike up into american fork canyon for the first time this year... they still dont have the entire canyon open due to all the crazy amounts of snow! Keyan loves nature, loves outdoors and thank goodness  loves to hike! He was pointing out all the different bugs and creatures and even got to see a moose.... ya apparently I didnt realize they are so abundant up in the canyon... it was huge!!
We took a trip to dallas/fortworth with tyler the second week of june as he was going to be leaving to san antonio from there for a captains course for the army for an additional two and half weeks! We met up with one of his best friends from high school and his family. We got to experience the fort worth zoo... amazing.. but seriously the zoo here is not impressive... guess I have been spoiled by the zoo in portland! We loved dallas... yes it was hot... 97... but we were loving the sun as we havent really experienced summer yet here in utah! We ate at the best bbq I have ever experienced... it was a true bbq with huge outside smokers and live music to which keyan was dancing all over and really entertaining the crowd and the musicians! He really is too funny!
We were sad to leave tyler and even more sad to fly home just key and I... first time doing it solo... but had a few times with change in elevation he woke up with some ear pain... drank some juice.. and of course was all better! It has been rough at times with tyler gone so much and no family around to help... but my mother in law did retire last month and has been a big help when I need a break from time to time. Keyan started story time at the library every monday and tuesday we started toddler tumbling classes at the gymnastics center... loves the rings, trampoline, uneven bars and is already doing summersalts... thank goodness in places like this to get his energy out in such a positive way!
Well our biggest news this month is the strawberry days cute baby contest which keyan took first place for mr. prince and was able to participate in his very first parade! I entered him in kind of last minute not really knowing how tough the competition was but there were about 250 kids that participated... wow.... he was so handsome in his suit and tie and doing his wave to everyone on the parade route through pleasant grove... and grandma yi even got to come and join... first parade for her as well!! I truly made so many memories that day... I was such a proud mom and keyan was loving the attention and such a crowd pleaser! To celebrate we went to the carnival afterwards where he got to ride the train ride about 5 times... ate popcorn, tri tip and belgium waffles! He was one happy boy!

18 months and many more milestones!

May has been a busy month with Keyan being such a big boy and started potty training last month! Hooray for possibly being out of diapers in a few short months! He continues to say new words almost everyday and of course being the social bug and making new friends with everyone he meets. He is such a big helper around the house loving to do lots of chores including laundry, vacuuming, dishes, cooking, cleaning... really wants to just help with everything! We went to reno for easter spending much needed time with my family and cousins... tyler spent 3 weeks in alaska... definantly missed him over the holiday! We met up with a really good friend of mine  from oregon and her boy for a playdate that lives just 10 minutes away... been so nice to reconnect with an old friend from years ago! Started training for my half marathon coming up next month... at least when the days are decent.. we have had so much rain this month but I am not complaining as I love the rain and feels like I am home again! Here are a few pics from the fun events of the month including the zoo for military family day and kids and baby expo at the jump houses!

april ~ 17 months and busy boy!!

Wow... its really hard to beleive that april is almost gone... and Keyan will have his 18 month appt very soon. This month has brought many new milestones for Keyan. He is now saying so many words, including several korean words, responds and follows many commands and started climbing, climbing and climbing!! Wow I definantly wasnt prepared for the climbing busy toddler for my house. I realized how busy this time is when I was standing back one day watching Keyan crawl right out of his crib lowering himself down to the floor and then climbing up on the changing table to finally come to a seated position on the top shelf and looked around with such a proud face!! I seriously had to get that on video... I am sure this is just the beginning to a busy fun toddler age with lots of climbing!! So this month we ordered our conversion rails for the toddler bed... not realizing it didnt come with the expensive crib set to begin with... wow!! We were really fortunate to tag along with tyler on a weekend trip to anaheim and keyan got to have his first experience at disneyland with his favorite characters mickey mouse and pluto.... really loves dogs right now! In fact goes up to every dog on our walks to the park or around our neighborhood barking at them and when they get too close comes runny for momma...silly boy! We did go to build-a-bear  for keyan... I had this coupon that ended up being invalid but oh well... 50 dollars later and keyan is one happy boy! We were also able to hang out with my cousin from boise and her adorable family... they were in town for my cousin LaRen baby shower.. she is due in may and so excited to finally have a younger cousin for keyan to play with... well in the future at least!

This month has been busy with music classes, trip to disneyland and trip to reno for easter and I will post pics of that soon!

16 months and many new words!

March 1 my baby is now 16 months... seriously cant beleive how fast he is growing up! We just finished a 5 week mom and me swim class with his friend gideon. Mon, wend, and fri from 10:30-11:00 and then music class on thursday from 9:30-10:30... lets just say it has been a busy month! Keyan continues to be a very friendly, outgoing lil guy. He loves to wave to anyone that will look at him and loves to talk. He has learned a few new words in the past few weeks... he now says juice, shoes, bannana, thank you and of course his own name keyan... has had that down since about 11 months! He loves to look at pictures especially of himself and loves to look at picture of cousins and relatives! He recently had a very mild case of the chicken pox... after receiving the vaccine the first week of february he developed about 10 spots 3 weeks later... little did I know that 1 in every 25 kids will get a mild version... guess we are so LUCKY to be that small percent!! He continues to get his molars... he now has 9 working on 10 teeth.... two molars and counting! He still loves to cuddle and at random times just gives you a big hug and bopo "kiss" ....  I just love that! I keep telling him everyday that he better let me kiss those cheeks until he is 21!!!
