Lazy day

We had the laziest day today, it was great! We relaxed on the couch and in our bed, yes all four of us, until noon! That's right, noon! We didn't take showers until 12:00. We finally got up, showered and decided we needed to eat something. Anthony decided it would be nice to go get lunch, so we did. More laziness, no cooking or cleaning. We really need to do that more often.

Soccer

Connor started soccer yesterday. He really enjoyed it. It was hard for him to keep his hands off the ball, but I think he's going to be a pro in no time!

Blue Jay

This bird was outside my bathroom window yesterday. I love to be able to see wildlife right outside my window!

I think I may be in trouble

Charlotte is only three and is already concerned about her clothes and accessories matching. Today I put her in a green shirt with gold writing and a gold belt on her jeans. Her first words about her outfit were, "this doesn't match". I had to show her that her belt was gold and it matched the gold writing on her shirt. Oh boy, this is starting already, what's going to happen in just a few years??

The bet

Anthony and his classmates made a bet with their teacher, they had to get at least a class average of 95% on their last test or they would all have to shave their heads. The class got a 93.5% average. So this weekend Connor helped me shave Anthony's head. I miss his hair already, he has really great hair. Although, he doesn't look bad bald either.

This is his hair before the shave. This was taken this morning.

This is after the shave. He doesn't look bad bald. Good thing he has a good shaped head!!

Open House

Today we went to an open house for the local police and fire departments. It was very educational for the kids and for us. Anthony's and my favorite part of the day were the k-9 dogs. The kids loved the bomb robot. They even got to make it move and make it talk. The life flight helicopter landed just yards away from us and the kids really liked that too. The slide show above has 12 pictures, it takes a few moments to view all of them.

Park fun

Today was such an incredibly beautiful day we decided to spend some time at the park. We have a park close by which is our new favorite. I love to get on the playground with the kids and run around with them. It's great exercise for all of us. We especially love the tube slide.
"Can you hear me?" Charlotte loves to talk into these things.

Charlottisms

Sometimes Charlotte makes up her own words. The latest one I like the most is, "stukie". It means stupid, as in "I don't like this show, it's stukie", this was an actual quote from Charlotte. I'm not sure where she comes up with this stuff, but I love it.

The cutest thing I've ever seen

Today Charlotte had her very first dance class. She's taking a ballet/tap class with three other little girls. Normally Charlotte is running around with Connor doing the boy things he does, so it took me a little while to get used to seeing her in her pink leotard and white tights dancing with other girls dressed the same way. I pulled her hair back in two braids, which she NEVER lets me do and she just looked absolutely adorable!! I can't wait for next Tuesday to see it again!

So cozy

One thing I love about the weather getting cooler is the cozy jammies the kids wear. They are so cuddly in their footsie jammies. It was still a little warm for these pajamas last night, but soon they'll be a necessity!

Imaginary friend

When I was little I had an imaginary friend named Lieko. I'm not sure how I came up with that name, but I remember that I could make Leiko into anything I wanted, a girl or a boy, young or old. Now, Charlotte has her very own imaginary friend. Her friend doesn't have a name yet and she only plays with her on occasion, but it's cute to see her imagination at work when she does.

I want to be a rockstar

Charlotte loves to sing and dance. A while back we got her and Connor guitars. They love to play with them and make up songs. Yesterday she was singing, "I want to be a rockstar". It was so cute.

A big wish!!

I want to wish my friend Melanie an incredibly happy birthday today! I hope this day is as special as you are!!

Kite flying fun

We had a breeze today so we decided to take the kids out to fly a kite. They had fun chasing the kite's shadow and trying to keep the kite in the air.

Funny girl

My friend Melanie recently had a Pampered Chef party. I bought a children's cookbook. The order came in and Melanie dropped my order off at my house today. I immediately looked at the book and showed the pictures to Charlotte. She took off with the book upstairs. I finally asked what she was doing. She came downstairs with the cookbook and a plate with some plastic eggs and a plastic spoon. I guess she was being a chef. She makes me laugh.

Other funnies

The kids say things all the time that crack me up. Here are some examples:

I've been trying to eat boiled eggs since I don't eat much meat and I really need the protein. Connor saw me make the eggs then asked me if he could have a spoiled (boiled) egg.

Charlotte was going around and around my legs and she said, "Oh, that's making me busy (dizzy)."

Charlotte likes watching Dora. Dora always says, "Come on, vamenos." So Charlotte one day said, "Come on, dominoes."

There's so many more but I can't remember them right now.

Mixed emotions

I recently sold Charlotte's crib. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I'm pretty sure I don't want any more kids (for those of you that have been talking to me lately you know how I was on the fence for a while), but getting rid of the crib makes it all seem so final. I'm sure it has to do with the fact that my little baby boy just started kindergarten and I feel like my two babies aren't really babies anymore. It's great having them grow up, they are getting so independent and it's much easier going places with them. No diaper bags, no more sleepless nights, being able to actually understand what they want. I'm happy they're growing up, but part of me is still holding on to them being little. When will that end? Please don't tell me it never goes away!

First day

Connor started Kindergarten today. He did a great job. I thought for sure he wouldn't get on the bus, but he got right on the bus without any hesitation. I met him at school just to make sure everything was okay. He didn't need me one bit. I was so proud!

The three musketeers. There are two other kids on our street that are in Connor's class. This picture is of them walking to class together after getting off the bus.

First homework assignment

Connor already had his first homework assignment. He had to make a self-portrait out of a blank person cut-out. I think he should get an A+!

Mountain adventure

Yesterday we took the kids to Mt Hood. It was so beautiful there. The weather couldn't have been better. Anthony and Charlotte went on the alpine slide. Connor said he would go on it when he turns 30, I'm not sure where that figure came from. Charlotte kept telling Anthony to go faster. She's such a dare devil! After the alpine slide we went to play on some of the other attractions. It was a great day!

Preparing for Kindergarten

Only three more days until Connor starts his long journey through school. I can't believe it. Time has gone so quickly. At the beginning of summer we got him a kindergarten workbook. He's been working on it all summer. He has really impressed us. Kindergarten should be a slam dunk!
