A Dallas Snowstorm

Yesterday big, fat, fluffy snowflakes fell on Dallas all day and through the night. Twelve inches of snowflakes, in fact. It was completely unexpected and absolutely magical. In the morning we went out in search of a sled with no success (I knew there was a reason we needed a bilibo). Luckily, pool supplies were already in abundance and we found a tube to use. We put together some not-so-stylish snow outfits and ended up being pretty well-dressed. After a lot of scrounging I was the only one who ended up not completely waterproof. My feet and hands got pretty cold, but Max and Tyler were able to stay out in the snow for hours. Max may have inherited my love of snow.

.

Already I can hear the drip, drip, drip of the snow melting. It's time to hurry outside and take advantage one more time. This snow and the Winter Olympics starting tonight makes me want to go skiing so badly. I miss it so much, it has been far too long.

2

Our little lightweight, Tessa, turned two a few days before Christmas. Unless we do the half-birthday option, I think we'll keep her birthdays simple and sweet. This year we took Tessa and Max to Build-a-Bear. The missionaries came over for a quick dinner. We had cake and ice cream after they left. Not because we didn't want to share with them, but they showed up 45 minutes late for dinner and had an appointment scheduled so they had to eat and run. Anyway, I know it's way past her birthday, but for my sake I'll make the very typical list about her:

*She is a HEALTHY little girl despite all the ulcers I've given myself over this. She may weigh as much as some kids do when they are 6 months old, but she's following her own little petite curve just perfectly. So says her doctor!
*She's got a funny little sense of humor. She makes jokes and tries to tease us and then laughs this loud, funny laugh like she is the greatest thing ever. Of course she is!
*She's the absolute perfect combination of girly-girl and tomboy. She'll walk into the room pushing her babies in a stroller with a gun hanging out of her pocket so she can get the monsters.
*Tessa ADORES Max. They are so great together. Their personalities are very different, but already they are the best of friends.
*She twirls her hair so obsessively that she makes terrible knots in her hair. They are nearly impossible to untangle, and many times I end up having to grab the scissors and just cut it out. The hair on her left side is getting a bit sparse.
*She happily goes into nursery. I'm pretty sure she'll be a lot more social than Max.
*She is a great sleeper, and still goes down happily for her naps. Max was just about done with naps by this age.
*She talks now, and puts together 5 and 6 word sentences without a problem.
*Every time she tries to hold up two fingers to show how old she is she gets all messed up and ends up making the sign for "I Love You".
*She is a stubborn little thing. Just try and get her to say "sorry" if she doesn't feel like it.
