Here is a picture of Max playing his cello.

The Good:
*He has an amazing teacher.
*Max loves his amazing teacher.
*He is actually happy to go to lessons, pleasant surprise for me.
*During lessons I become quite convinced that Max is a prodigy, he can do anything she asks perfectly.
*He looks adorable playing his cello.
The Bad:
*One year of cello will cost more than Tyler and I payed combined for our college tuition. (This, of course, doesn't count dental school.)
*This beautiful cello cost more than my violin (which tells you I really could have used a better violin...and that everything cello is much more expensive).
*Max isn't into the practice thing. Tears are usually shed when I mention the word "practice".
*It looks so easy in lessons, but when I try to get Max to do the same thing at home it doesn't work out. I can't get his cello properly positioned, his bowhold goes to pots as soon as he starts playing, his left hand fingers collapse, etc., etc., etc..
I know this is good for Max, and I am glad I got him started, but the lazy side of me sometimes wishes I waited a few years--or maybe ten.
