Idaho July 2016

We were lucky enough to go to Idaho and see family this year. Lucky because it takes FOREVER to get there and back. The car ride wasn't anyone's favorite part, but we made it and no one died. Ha ha! We started the trip by seeing Tyrell's sister who we don't see often, for a morning. She happened to be in town too. We then had lunch with Tyrell's family at good old Burley Pizza Hut. For those that don't know, we met there while working and worked together for well over a year before marrying. Our kids didn't really understand this picture, but I thought it was funny since our family basically started in that Pizza Hut.

After that we headed to Shelley to spend time with my family. We enjoyed the Idaho Potato Museum for the first time ever. Strange that we had never been. I thought the potato masher and peeler displays were quite interesting. I can't believe how many different styles exist. The kids enjoyed to light potatoes in the cellar that were animated. Quite scary really! It was worth the $3 admission and I would actually recommend it. Most of the cousins went, which made it even more interesting.

The next day we made stepping stones with concrete mix and odds and ends to smoosh into them. Some of the grandkids took that literally. Mine looks like it would turn out, but I didn't smoosh literally so it didn't.

Once that project was completed and naps were taken we went boating. The kids had a blast. I was a little scared for my babies on the tube, but they didn't die. River water is filthy and that also terrifies me, but we bathed them!

The next day we attended "Secret Life of Pets". It was hilarious and the kids loved it! Then we played in Great Grandpa's irrigation water! Oh the memories. I remember being neck high in that stuff and loving every minute! The kids were no different. They were muddy messes at the end, but it was worth the hose down!

Thursday was a rest kind of day. We all just sat around and our family took the kids for a little back to school shopping trip.

Friday we headed to see some friends. The older boys got to play at the splash park with their friends while the littles played with cousins and went to the park.

Saturday we said goodbye and made the LONG journey home.

Our Week With Family

We began our week with family with the 4th of July. We had lots of fun! The first day we went to the Rec Center here in town. It's pretty spectacular really. No sarcasm there. I have few pictures of it and none of this trip.

We then went on a little trip to Rapid City, SD. We have quite a few favorites there and found some new favorites as well. The first place we went was Mount Rushmore. This was our third trip there. It's always fun to take family because most of them have never had the chance to see it. It is so cool in person.

After Rushmore we went to the mall, of course, and then had some dinner at Fudruckers, one of our favorites there. Then we headed off to a small cabin I had rented for the night.

The next day was chuck full and by the end this momma and her kids were TIRED. Grandma was far gone as well!

We began the day at Cosmos. It's an area in the Black Hills that has some odd things happening there. It was so so cool, but it literally made me sick. The first thing they showed us was that even though there are spots in the ground that look unlevel they are in fact level. Just take a look at this picture of Kael of Kai. Kai is taller in reality, but he doesn't look it here.

Yes, the level proved this ground was level. Hmmm....

After that our guide took us to this cabin (where I got sick) and things started to feel really off. You couldn't stand up straight and if you look at the picture of our family it looks like whoever took the picture was leaning, but they weren't and we were even though we were all standing up straight as we could. Kael kept falling so I hung onto him pretty tight.

They had lots of little tricks to show us and our kids got to participate a lot. Havyn got to do one of the main events. They explained to her that this was the truth chair, If you don't tell the truth the chair will through you forward. I didn't think she would be brave enough to sit on a chair that was barely hanging on, but she did it. Here she is being sworn in to tell the truth and nothing but the truth on the chair.

The Chair

Yes, she told the truth, though a few times she hesitated. It was so cute! She even earned a sticker that read, "I told the truth at cosmos".

We paid for the kids to each get a geode and crack it themselves at the end. They searched in the sand to find their geode first. They thought that was amazing and have been carrying them around ever since,

That same day we made our second trip to Reptile Gardens, but first trip in the sunny summer! The giant tortoises were out for the kids to pet this time. The skin is really scaly and rough. They also got to see a snake show and pet a snake. I actually touched it too, SO Cool!

One last place we had to go to while we were there was Bear Country. We got to see the baby bear cubs this time too. They were being fed and it was so cute! They saw the worker coming and huddled around her for their food. A couple standing on their hind legs. They were maybe as big as Kael. Adorable! There were tons of bears crossing the roadway too. This was only our second trip here. Last year I don't remember seeing so many bears.

Family left this morning. We will miss them, but will see more in a couple weeks when we head to Idaho ourselves.

4th of July 2016

We were lucky enough to spend this 4th with some family. Tyrell's sister and husband as well as mom came to visit for the week! We had a lot of fun as you will soon see. This was our first parade since moving to Gillette, WY. The kids had so much fun and got a TON of candy! They even got to meet Spongebob Square Pants and got free cans of Pepsi and Coke!

Later we had a BBQ for dinner and enjoyed time together.

Tie Dye

Long story really short: I needed something for one of my "projects" and had to run to Joann's and Kai wanted to come. We grabbed what I needed and passed the tie dye and minutes later walked out with it. Hmmm, not sure what happened there. Anyway, we did tie dye as a whole family yesterday. Yes, it was wild. Yes, it was MESSY. Yes, it was fun. The kids are so proud of their shirts!
