Happy 2nd Birthday Meg Caroline!!!!

Sweet little Meg turned 2 today! We were so excited that it was beautiful outside because Brody and I took her to the zoo to celebrate her big day and it was a blast!! Thought I would do a little post to Meg about what she is like at TWO!

Sweet Meg,

It is hard to even put into words what you are like because your personality seems so big! You are always on the go and you are typically just so happy! You are so social and just love to get out of the house and go see people. You are very friendly to almost everyone you come in contact with regardless of if they are a stranger! You love to wave really big and say, "Hey"! You always have a little pep in your step and I love watching you be-bop around when we are out and about. You are a little runner and are very fast! I get so many comments from complete strangers about how funny you are and people giggle and talk about how cute and funny the things you do are! When you get really excited and happy about something you let out loud squeels of delight. It is obvious that you love life and you love people! Your favorite places to go are to church, gymboree, and the library and the park when it is nice. It is so fun going to Gymboree Play and Music classes and seeing you with other kids your age. You are very good at listening to your teacher and are always eager to be the first in line to try something new. You may not be able to talk as well as the other 2 year olds, but you are certainly a tad bit more energetic, enthusiastic, and daring then almost all the others. Your teacher always says, "It's so sad Meg doesn't have any energy and then she will jokingly ask the other moms who wants to take you home." No one ever volunteers. Oh well!

At home you love to run around with Brody and let him try to get you into mischief. You two have a lot of fun playing tag and playing with guns, swords, and dress up stuff. You hold your own quiet well and have recently started to become a tad too aggressive with some slapping. It always seems playful and that you are just trying to be funny, but it hurts! Your favorite things to do at home are play-doh, drawing, stickers, painting, playing in the bathroom sink, and playing with bouncy balls. I love that you love some quiet sit-down activities that we can do together! You and Brody love to take baths together a couple of times a day and you both love wrestling with daddy! You always try to whisper things in my ear and think it is so funny to do that! The phrases you say the best are, "Daddy! Daddy! I pee pee in the potty." When this happens you expect (well actually demand) that Daddy come in and sing in the most grand fashion the pee pee in the potty song. You get even more excited if Brody joins in. You also say, "Night Night Brody. Night Night Daddy. Night Night BOYS." before I put you to bed each night. So sweet. And the last is "Mommy! I tooted." Wonder where you got that one? I still rock you before you nap and before bedtime. I know you are a little too old but I love it and so do you! You love watching Barney clips on You Tube. You prefer this over watching something on TV. You have been battling an ear infection that won't go away which may result in another set of tubes and you have been sleeping terribly for about the last 3 months. Who knows if that is really the reason, but it gives me something to blame so I am going with it! You typically end up in Brody's bed because that is where I am at because he doesn't sleep either (and this is why I think two kids is enough for me). I am crossing my fingers that maybe one day you guys can just sleep together without me in there!

You are constantly doing hilarious things that crack us up. I am always exhausted at the end of everyday! You keep me on my toes with all of your climbing, jumping, and general craziness. But I wouldn't have it any other way. We love you more than you will ever know and I feel beyond blessed to get to spend almost every minute of everyday with you!!!

Sensory Tub Fun

I frequently read this Blog and get lots of great ideas of things to do with the kids! I have seen a lot of her posts on sensory tubs and finally decided to buy the materials and make some for the kids. They were a hit! All you need is a tub, dry beans and/or rice, scoops, tongs and some hidden goodies.

The first one I did was a "Treasure Hunt" theme. I found $1 party favors at Wal-Mart that included eye patches, fake money, gold coins, and rings. I hid them in the beans and the kids started to dig!

Brody primarily wanted to find all his goodies and then go play, but Meg scooped and poured for 45 minutes!!! The materials are so easy to pull out and it has entertained her so much each time. And Brody was more into the second time I got them out.

Are they not so cute in their eye patches? I also found some little farm animals and tractors in the dollar bins at Target and they were an even bigger hit! I did learn though that it is a better idea to put a tablecloth down on the floor and put the tubs on the ground and have them play there rather than at the table. I am already looking forward to a Valentine's Day themed tub soon!

Quiet Time

One morning while I was cooking breakfast it got a little too quiet in the house. I went to find Meg and this is what she was doing.

Precious girl always keeps me laughing!

Shiner

Poor Meg got a pretty bad boo-boo one night while I was at the movies. There are two sides to the story...Brysons and Brodys. Bryson said she tripped and fell while they were out walking. Brody said she was wearing her dress up high heels while out walking and just fell. And she cried and cried. Um....not sure who to believe! Thankfully it all healed up and you can tell it didn't bother her too much!

We are all thrilled she can wear a bow in her hair without a headband!

This is what she looks like when her daddy is around. Always trying to hang on him and wanting him to swing her and throw her. She loves him even though he let her wear high heels out on a walk. Actually....that is probably why she does love him. People always say that little girls have their daddys wrapped around their little finger. With Bryson this has never been the case.....until lately. One night Brody wasn't with us and we were at Target with Meg. She was looking at the toys and just picking different stuff up and walking around with it. I looked at Bryson and said that it was going to be a disaster when we took the stuff away from her before we checked out. And he just looked at me like I was crazy and said well we will just get it for her. I just looked at him and we both smiled because at that moment I realized.....she's got him hooked. Now I will say that the items weren't huge, but still. He would've made Brody put back a $0.99 hot wheels car!

Four Eyes

How do you like the kids new look???

Thankfully neither of them actually need glasses a the moment but let me tell you.....they both want them pretty bad!

After Meg broke my glasses we all made a trip to Pauls Valley so Papa could check my eyes and so I could pick out new glasses. It was crazy how much the kids loved trying on glasses, Brody especially! He found a red pair that he wanted so bad, but they were actually some that needed to stay in the office. The girls at the office were so nice to find them each a pair they could take home. (Just ignore Bryson in the background as he drinks his Airborne)

And ignore the lipstick on Meg's face. In a desperate moment to try to get her to sit still at Tios I actually gave her lipstick. In my defense I thought it was lip gloss but as you can see it was not!

If they do end up needing glasses at least they will look cute in them!

Thanksgiving Fun

Somehow I managed to never post our Thanksgiving pictures and since I am getting ready to print my 2010 blog book.....I needed to get these pictures added!
We enjoyed a very cold Thanksgiving Day at Mimi and Bumpys! KK was on Meg duty and was overly watchful and protective of her. I didn't mind. I think I actually sat down and enjoyed my dinner and maybe read a few magazines! Thanks KK!
Since it was so cold outside Bumpy turned the garage into an indoor play area! The kids bounced until they couldn't bounce anymore!

Huston loving on Meg!

It looks like they were loving on each other but they were actually wrestling!
A little bit of Olivia put Meg and Bumpy right to sleep!
And the kids eventually had to rest and eat a snack!
On Saturday we enjoyed Thanksgiving at Nana and Papas house! Meg managed to make her way into Papas convertible! We have a picture of her Aunt KK riding on the car during a Homecoming parade long ago. I bet it never crossed my parent's mind that I would end up marrying Bryson. We hadn't even dated at that point. Funny how things work out!
The moon bounce made another appearance! They thought it was more fun to play in it as it deflated!
One of the highlights is feeding the fish and then trying to catch a fish. I think that may be cheating.....oh well!
We call Meg the Donkey Whisperer
She loves Andy and Molly
It also happened to be Papas birthday!

Meg enjoyed her ice cream
Papa was a little embarassed by the gift Brody picked out for him. I love this picture of Brody. There is one from when Bryson was little and they look so much alike!
Reading the card Brody and Meg made!
Finally showing off the undies! Papas nickname has always been Batman since his name is Bruce Wayne! I have never seen his face so red!

Christmas Day!!!!

On Christmas Eve after the kids opened their new pajamas and Christmas book we were all ready to sprinkle food on the grass for Santa's reindeer and leave out some cookies and head to bed. After a fairly good nights sleep for everyone we were all excited for Christmas morning. These pictures are all out of order but I am sure you can piece it all together!

She is thrilled as you can tell!

Brody was so excited over the Sumo Wrestler suit from Bumpy. Meg was a little sad she didn't get one. She just used her little belly to bump him!
The suits were a hit until Huston started to take it a little too seriously. But who can blame the kid? Don't tell him to wrestle if you don't really want him to.

Of course the Santa hat made a reapperance
She loves her KK
Brody loved the remote control car from Grandmother and Grandad
My sweet babies!
She loves her jewelry
Taking after Bumpy
Uncle Matt and Daddy were awesome about immediately putting together every toy Meg opened!

Not too many grandparents by their grandkids a loud machine gun for Christmas!
So goofy at breakfast

She loved her dress up stuff from Santa

Poor Minnie got the boot (temporarily) after she saw the new Daisy and Mickey

Checking it all out!
A very happy boy! He loved it all! And he loved his pajamas too and wanted to wear them so bad, but he just couldn't stand to have them on. He kept taking them off and on, but just finally decided that it was too much to take!
