Dance Recital

The month of May was Dance Recital month.  Since I never took dance and this was Meg's first year I had no idea what to expect.  Whew....I was glad it was over!  There were a lot of rehearsals!
Looking cute with her friends at the Journey Church rehearsal!

The day of the recital she played soccer that morning and then came home to get all fancy!  She was so cooperative while I curled, rolled, and hairsprayed her hair and did her make-up.  We even sprayed body glitter on her!  And she looked beautiful.  But she wouldn't let me take any pictures.  I was so sad but I didn't want to "rock the boat" because I wanted her to be happy and actually go out on stage!  So the rear and side shots were all I got at home!

Finally once we got backstage she warmed up a little and let me get a few pictures with my phone!
Sweet little dancing friends!

Cousin Alyssa was in the same dance recital and we loved getting to watch her too!
Sweet Emma from Meg's soccer team was in another class and we got to watch her too!  It was crazy windy outside that day and her pretty curls lasted all of 30 minutes.  Oh well.  I learned for next time to leave the rollers in until we get to the theatre!

Bryson was in charge of reserving 11 seats while I was backstage.  He compared it to the Oklahoma Land Run but was quiet successful in securing us fantastic seats.  We anxiously waited for the next hour (yes....that's how early we had to get there to get good seats) and finally it was dance number 8.
Carolina and Cooper were so sweet to come and watch Meg!

A few more of her biggest fans!
Her class did their tap dance to "Baby Take a Bow" and it was just the cutest thing ever.  I couldn't believe how comfortable she was on stage and her personality definitely showed!  There was a lot of bowing in her number and she bowed with such intensity that we worried she would either have whiplash or fall on her face.  But she didn't!  They got the biggest cheers from the audience after they finished!
Look at that pose!

And finally it was like dance number 64 (or something like that) and they did their sweet little ballet number.  Dance recitals would be way better if it was just all tap.  Those ballet dances were a tad boring.  But she still looked cute as can be and did a great job!
Brody was so excited to head back stage to pick Meg up afterwards.  He was genuinely proud of her and told her what a good job she did!

Her dance teacher Miss Jenna!

Meg got lots of goodies from her adoring fans.  Most of family had to leave early because of bad weather heading their way and because of graduation activities, but Gran B was a trooper and stuck it out till the bitter end.  She got Meg the cutest little bracelet and her dad's old ballet shoes.  What a special gift Meg can always keep.

Between the big flowers and the crazy wind it was a tough walk out to the car for our little dancer!
And this was her 5 minutes after we got in the car!

And at home after trying to wake her up for at least 30 minutes.  Dancing is exhausting!  Dance classes were such a success this year and we will certainly be doing it again next year!

Gnomes!

One morning in May Meg woke up and wasn't feeling that great.  She decided she should stay home from school.  I was happy to have a day with nothing to do but cuddle on the couch with her.  Around mid-morning Bryson realized that he had forgot something he needed at work and so Meg and I ran it up to him.  She had perked up some and so we decided to head over to one of our favorite parks at the Myriad Gardens.
We were pleasantly surprised to find the whole park had been transformed with gnomes everywhere!

They had a scavenger hunt to find about 20 different types of gnomes, then she made a hat, decorated a cookie, and painted a gnome.

Then she got busy playing!  She always loves to look at the Devon Tower!

And this was the first time the splash pad that was put in last year was actually working.  She couldn't resist getting in.....clothes and all!

It actually started to pour down rain and they shut it down because of the lightning!  I love days that turn out to be so much fun!

Doggie Doctor

Since Annie is a puppy she has to go to the vet every 3 weeks to get up to date on all of her shots.  The kids absolutely love taking her to the doggie doctor (as they like to call it).

It gets a little harder each time just because of her size and her energy level.  The vet always says she looks great and is going to be such a good dog.  Please notice how Meg has her leg's crossed.  So grown up!
And Annie went from getting to sit in our laps in the car then to sitting in the seat next to the kids.  Now she has to be in the very back and this is what she does the whole time.  It just makes me laugh seeing this in the rearview mirror!

Mother's Day Weekend

We had the most perfect Mother's Day Weekend this year!  Aunt B came up from Dallas Saturday morning and after Meg's soccer game and eating lunch we headed down to Lawton to the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge area.  I used to go down there with my Aunt Brenda and Uncle Phil but it had been a long time since I was last there!

The views were absolutely beautiful!

And I was reminded on this day that Brody and Meg are rock climbing fools!  I think they could have climbed for hours if we let them.

Meg was all about posing that day!

After climbing around we went to the museum area there and then went to see lots of longhorns, bison, and prairie dogs.  Then we found a great hiking area and enjoyed a little 30 minute hike.  By that point the kids were starving and questioning me as to why I wouldn't have packed a picnic lunch for them, so we headed to the nearest restaurant (Burger King) and then headed home.  We will be going back soon for some more hiking with a picnic basket in tow!
On Sunday we met up with the Alexander family at Frontier City.  This is what Mandie and I picked for our Mother's Day outing and it turned out to be so much fun!  Meg and Case rode the carousel at least 10 times in a row!
 She also loved the swings
And the canoe

Bryson had to do the Sidewinder with them since I don't do spinny rides!

Such sweet friends!

Brody and Meg rode this roller coaster at least 10 times in a row and the lady was nice enough to not make them get off.  They just went one after another.  Too much fun.  I love when things aren't busy!
That little coaster gave Meg the boost of confidence to try a big coaster!  She loved this one and Brody even got brave enough to ride the Silver Bullet that goes upside down!  Such a fun day with great friends!  I ended my Mothers Day with sushi to-go and went to bed so thankful for my two precious babies!

Mother's Day Tea

The Wednesday before Mother's Day was a very anticipated day at our house.  It was the Mother's Day Tea Party at Gingerbread.  Gingerbread does the best job of celebrating moms and hosts the cutest little tea party complete with entertainment.
Meg was very happy to see me when I arrived and eagerly showed me to my seat!

Then all the Elves got up to perform about 12 different songs.  Meg sang her little heart out and I must admit I got pretty teary eyed on a few of them.  She is just so big and I am so proud of that little girl!

Having Cooper in her class made the entire year even better and it was so cute to watch him sing too!
She has the best teachers and we had to get a picture with each of them!
I just love Teacher Pam.  This was Brody's favorite teacher and Meg sure loved her too!

Although Meg loved all of her teachers Teacher Laura was probably her favorite.  She always came home talking about what her hair looked like, what she was wearing, and she spent a lot of time following her around on the playground!

And Teacher Ghis!  The Elf Class probably wouldn't run as well as it does if it wasn't for her!  She does such a great job planning and organizing everything and I love how she encourages each kid to be so independent.  And she's so fun!

And the day wouldn't be complete without her showing me her new skills on the rope swing!
