Relaxing Sunday....

Well, Kensley & I have had a great few days. Kent had to leave to go out of town for the weekend, so my mom and dad came up to visit. I always love when they come! We got a lot of things accomplished. including a little clothes shopping for Miss Kensley! Our house went up on the market so the sign is up. :-( It was pretty sad to see. This is our first home. I'm going to miss it. And the neighbors.... that was the best part :-)

We've got a fairly busy week. Hopefully we'll make it to the pool one day. I'm excited that summer time is here!

Here's a picture of Kensley today- I've been making a few bows to match her new outfits my mom & I got her. This is just one of the few!

Finally settled back down....

We had a very busy end of the week/weekend last week. Kensley went on her 1st plane ride (I'm going to try to get the pictures from my friend ASAP!) and she did really well! We looked at houses all day Friday and Saturday. We found NOTHING! We're going to have to make another trip up there to look again... it was a little depressing because the houses up there are so old...

We got home Saturday night and went straight to bed. We were beat! We got up Sunday and headed out to East Texas. The family we flew to Maryland with was headed out there and invited us. We had a lot of fun. Kensley went on her first boat ride & got in the lake for the first time. (Our weekend was filled with "firsts"!) Needless to say, when we finally made it home Monday evening, we were EXHAUSTED! Kensley is now back on her routine, so things are a little better. She's not as fussy. This weekend we're staying home & my parents are coming up for a much needed visit! I'm ready to see them- and I know they're ready to see Miss Kensley. Hopefully I'll be able to get a lot packed while they're here.
Here are a few pictures from the lake- and then from yesterday at the pool.

She loved the mashed potatoes!

Day 3

Well, after a trip to Cook's Childrens Urgent Care, we found out that Kensley does not, in fact, have the chicken pox! She has had a delayed allergic reaction to amoxicillin. Crazy, huh?! Now the poor girl has to write in the "Allergic to" box of all her medical papers "penicillin". It's always been so nice to go into the Dr.'s office and when they ask what you're allergic to, you can say "nothing". It's that simple. But oh well... :) That's a petty thing, huh? At least we know now that she is allergic- bless her heart (I know I keep saying that... but it's so sad!) We are now giving her a stronger does of Benadryl every 6 hours and then Zyrtec once a day. Hopefully this will knock it out soon! The Dr. said the rash could possibly come & go for the next 10 days... NOT fun! She is miserable.

We're going to make the trip to Maryland now. Woohoo! I am so excited- I just pray that miss Kensley does ok. She'll have 24 hours worth of medicine in her by the time we leave.

Here is a picture of her this morning. Oatmeal bath.... I hope it's working!

Day 2

Well, I want to try to blog everyday so I can have this for myself later on... I'm a dork like that :)

Today has been ok. Poor Kensley has more red spots and is irritable. Overall, she isn't too bad. It could be a lot worse. She's been taking some good naps with the help of benadryl. When I went in her room after her afternoon nap, I started crying. It just breaks my heart. One of her eyes was so swollen and red. I've made an appointment to go BACK to the Dr. in the morning. With it being around her eye, it really worries me. And the fact that I talked to my friend and she said chicken pox has a cycle that it goes through pretty quickly- and within 24 hours, she still has not had blisters or scabbed up. I'm trying not to worry- but it's hard.... she's so little... I just hope she is ok.

Here is a picture of her eating her dinner. Bless her heart- she is in good spirit.... just looks horrible!

Day 1- PoX

This morning I woke up to a baby girl whining in her crib, ready to start the day. Kensley usually gets up around 8-8:30, but this morning she was ready to go at 7. I planned to go to cycle class at 9:15, so I went ahead and got her out of bed, changed her diaper and let her play- fed her breakfast and then wanted to put her clothes on so she would be ready to leave when we needed to. When I took her pj's off, I noticed a bad rash around her little legs. As I got to looking, there were whelps. I ended up making an appointment to go see the Dr. (keep in mind that just over a week ago we were in there because of an ear infection. We had finished the last dose of antibiotics last night) We get to the dr. and he tells me she has the chicken pox. WHAT?! I never even imagined it would be that. For some reason, that was the LAST thing I ever thought about her getting- not sure why, but I just hadn't even thought about it. I don't know where she got it- I haven't been anywhere in the past 3 weeks because, A) that stupid swine flu going around- I kept her from the nursery at the gym and B) the 3rd week she got the cold & ear infection. However, I did have a big play date at my house in those first two weeks- I am emailing parents tomorrow to see if any of the other little ones got it. I also took her to the nursery at church on Sunday- so I've phoned them to let them know.

So I've had friends say "oh I want to bring my kid around her so he/she will get it". Earlier today I thought "oh ok.... whatever... (however in the back of my head I'm thinking "I'm not sure if I want you to do that because then in the whole scheme of things, it would be MY child that gave YOUR child the pox!) But after this evening, I wish I really did have another mommy going through this! I need some support! It's really a tough thing- she is miserable and I can't do anything about it. She can't scratch (luckily) because she doesn't know how. I tried to put the lovely Calamine lotion on her. I'm nervous to see what it all looks like in the morning when we get up. I dread the scabs it leaves.

With all this said- we have a trip planned up to Maryland on Friday to look at houses. We'll see how things go and how she is doing. I have a feeling Kent is going to have to be sending pictures to me via the cell phone so I can look at some of the houses. I trust his judgement. I just really want to go up there. I've never left her over night with anyone and so I would hate the first time to be when she is sick and when I am 22 hours (in a car) & 3.5 hours (in a plane) away from her! So if you're reading this, please pray for us. We have so much going on right now in our lives- it's all great! But it seems like everything is happening to our poor Kensley. Just pray for her healing- and our sanity! :)

Here are a few pictures of our baby girl.......

house hunting

Well, the search is on. We are for sure moving and it will probably be soon. I am excited but feel a little overwhelmed because looking at houses online seems endless! The houses up north are so different- they're all very old. I'm going to miss my nice, new house. Not to say we won't find a nice one up there- it's just a lot different. I've spent a lot of today looking (while I'm not having to chase Kensley around the house). We're going up next week to actually look. That will be Kensley's 1st plane ride...any tips? :-) Keep us in your prayers.

I want to mention this- I absolutely love Kensley's age right now. She's almost 9 months. She is SO much fun! She is starting to pull up on anything & everything she can get her hands on. She'll be walking before we know it..... :-( I just love that girl so much.....

Dumpster Diving!

That's what I'll be doing later this morning when Kensley wakes up :) We are in need of boxes!!!

You may wonder why? Well, Kent's job is taking us to Maryland for the next few years. I am very excited about this adventure. It's going to be really neat to live somewhere besides Texas. There's so much to do up there, from what I hear- and it's beautiful! The next couple months will be crazy as we try to show the house & sell it and then pack up the house to make the big move across the US! I never thought I would be saying this... I think in a way, I'm still in denial.

Here are a few pictures from Mother's Day Weekend last weekend. We had a nice time in Houston visiting Matt & Amanda. I am SO glad we got to see them! Then we went to Mexia- we had a nice time there.

Oh- and here are some pictures from the Mother's Day Party I had at my house. There were so many babies! It was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, Kensley picked up something and has a nasty runny nose now and an ear infection in both ears. She's fine now- she's on amox., which she loves! :)

Kensley REALLY wanted Maddox's paci &
he could've cared less! HA
And lastly, here are some pictures from the other evening. I bought her a little pool & decided to try it out once the sun wasn't out full force. She had her cute little bathing suit on- and she loved every minute of it! She's so darn cute :)

Infant Buddies

Well, I am sneaking in a little time to upload some cute pictures of Miss Kenlsey & Hailey Grace. Whitney's husband got a job in Oklahoma, so they'll be leaving us tomorrow :( I'm so glad we got to watch Hailey today while mommy & daddy cleaned, packed, and loaded! It's been so neat to see them grow together.... it seems like yesterday Kent & I were going to our "child birth" class and visiting Whitney & Hailey in the hospital.

They played really well together- they are now asleep... thanks to Baby Einstein! haha

Here are a few pictures.......

The two below here are my FIRST attempt with nap time! haha

I was trying to get her to nap..... at this point- I hadn't put on the magic show! (Einstein)

Here's Kensley- this is what I walked into find! (This happens quite often now that she can pull up) We've had to move the mattress in the crib down so we don't have any accidents!)

We had bubbles going and then of course, McCoy....he entertains very well!

There was something about Hailey's pacifier.... Kensley would NOT leave it alone! I would give her her own paci- but she wanted Hailey's!

See how McCoy just fits in so well with these two?

A day of cleaning...

that's what I did all day.... it feels good to have a clean house. I really got the cleaning bug today... I don't get it often- I really liked the house when I was in the nesting stage of my pregnancy... the house was always so clean! When I get these urges, I have to run with them... they don't come very often... :)

This past weekend was nice.... my mom, dad & grandmother came up on Saturday to watch Kensley while Kent & I played in a sand volleyball tournament with Christian & Megan. It was a lot of fun- however, the sand felt like CEMENT! Since it had rained, the sand was packed... NOT fun to fall in! My whole shin on my left leg is bruised & swollen... but overall, we had a blast. Kent and I sucked together, needless to say. But with a little practice, I think we'd make an OK team! haha ..........Sunday we just lounged around the house. The weather was pretty chilly so we stayed home from church. I know, shame on me. I just didn't want to get out :( I have a few sermons on my iPhone to catch up on when I go to the gym by myself!

Kensley is crawling like crazy.... I don't have any pictures right now of her... I'll try to post some I've taken with my phone. She is a mess.... she loves McCoy. It's funny to watch her crawl all over him! He's been so good with her!

Lastly- I mentioned a while back on a blog about a big change.... well... It's a done deal... kent & I are moving up to Maryland for his job for the next 3-4 years. BIG changes for us! I know I'm going to stick out like a sore thumb with my accent (I think I belong in East Texas!) but I'm goign to represent Texas! haha I am really excited about the adventure. Kent won't be traveling, so that's nice. It's a bitter sweet deal. Luckily we'll be flying back in to see family once a month.... please keep us in your prayers!

Friday!!

Man this week has flown by! We haven't done too much this week... just hung around the house, went to Bible study.... it's been nice. We're staying here this weekend. We're playing in a sand volleyball tournament tomorrow and my mom is coming up to keep Kensley. I can't wait for her to see her- it's been over a month and she has changed SO MUCH! I'm hoping my grandmother gets to come up too. We're going on a walk in a little bit- just need to get out of the house! I'm staying away from the gym for a little bit... all this swine flu talk... I'm not really paranoid, but since I don't have to take her there, I'm not going to. Just playing it safe. SO we'll go run and play at the playground...she likes to swing....and I'll take my sanitary wipes :)
